What always stuns me when I hear something like this, the composer didn't have a computer to put all this together. He heard it in his head and then put it on paper with a pencil. I couldn't carry a tune in a wheelbarrow but a musician can conceive and produce something like this. Sometimes it just doesn't seem fair but I'm still glad it can be done. Even if I can't do it myself I can at least enjoy it.
Oh my goodness this is absolutely phenomenal. Some of these harmonies are so luscious and full they legitimately elicit a smile and shiver from me. Bravo to all of the performers and to ALW for creating this masterpiece
I know! I’ve always loved when the French horn finishes music of the night 7:22 and the rest of the orchestra moves up the scale until they meet the French horn at the final chord!!! And in this rendition it was awesome!
I was the timpanist in this, This orchestra is probably around 70-80 musicians but a full symphonic orchestra which i played in the Phantom of the Opera live musical some years ago had about 120 musicians. Because all the instruments are mic'd up it sounds bigger than what you might think. If you ever get the chance to see any ALW show that has a full Symphonic Orchestra beg, borrow or steal to get a ticket, you will never forget it. These types of music sounds 10 times better if you have "Dolby Atmos". It sounds like your sitting in the middle of the orchestra with the sound coming above you, behind you on your left, on your right etc This is probably the best arrangement of a phantom Suite i have ever heard.

I am so happy I ran across this scanning thru you tube. All the times I've seen the phantom I never once saw the orchestra play these beautiful and touching pieces. How many people are in this orchestra...they're spread out in such a large area. Mr. Weber, you are a genius. I have to admit I loved the Phantom with Gerard in it, the modern Phantom I didn't really care for...everything done on stage, the settings, costumes etc just weren't there. Thank you...love music, loved this video! ❤🎼🎶🎵
I was the timpanist in this there were close to 80 musicians but with everybody micd up it sounded more like a full symphonic orchestra which has usually at least 120 people. It was recorded over 2 days & Simon Lee really worked us hard. There was a young flutist (around 18) who was struggling with her part & was sacked & given her marching orders in front of the entire orchestra. I think Simon Lee could have handled that better. He is a real tough judge but he is a real hard ass although these musicians are the best of the best & are paid well & there should be a expectation that the musicians should deliver first class music. A hard, arduous 2 days but also enjoyable.
@@helpstopanimalabuse8153 Great to hear from an insider of the performance. Also, I hate it when the video director or editor does not recognize that when ever the timpanist is playing, he is the most visual instrumentalist in the orchestra.
@@1106gary You must be a mind reader, i was the Timpanist. The timpanis are the link between the brass & percussion. You need excellent tone hearing. If you hit one off note it's very obvious. it is a challenging instrument. Everybody was spaced out because of Covid. This was filmed at the Theatre Royal which ALW owns & had just spent 19 million dollars on a complete refurbishment. it looks stunning. The top section is very high & steep. There are 2 other similar pieces we recorded. Just search "Sunset Boulevarde Symphonic Suite" & Evita Symphonic Suite.

@@FrantasticFrantasy Thank-you Fran! I was just listening to this. Very nice with the organ. I have a piece entitled "The New 23rd" that was also recorded with organ. I hope you can listen to it on RUclips. I play violin & trumpet. This song was recorded with the organ at Rye Presbyterian Church in Rye, N.Y.. This symphonic suite is certainly much better than the original score. Full symphony orchestra plus a careful arrangement make the difference.
TOTALLY AGREE - MUCH BETTER THAN THE ORIGINAL SCORE - FULL SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA PLUS A CAREFUL ARRANGEMENT MAKE THE DIFFERENCE.
Definitely. This is what the movie should've had. I feel so transported listening to this
I listened to this inside my car with the volume turned up a bit and WOW! I could actually feel the music inside my soul! Absolutely beautiful! ❤️
Gracias Sr Andrew Lloyd Webber por tan maravillosa creacion.Bravo bravisimo!!!
What a Beautiful Masterpiece!!! Phantom has been my favorite ever since childhood! Andrew Lloyd Webber is a Musical Genius!!! This music touches my soul! It's sooo Powerful and Beautiful!! I've been blessed to have ice skated a solo to Music Of The Night for ice show performances and it was my absolute favorite! And my acapella choir during my junior and senior years in high school got the amazing opportunity to sing Masquerade!! 60 voices strong singing that song was absolutely Amazing!! Thank you for sharing this!! ❤🎶❤🎵❤🎶❤🎵👏👏👏
OMG!!! Probably my favorite is the crescendo and progression of 'The Point of No Return' honestly, the best I have ever heard.
What a joy to be able to watch and listen to this recording! Stirs up memories, emotions, and all sorts of wonderful thoughts! Have a happy Christmas!
I have never heard anything so beautiful. Thank you Andrew Lloyd Weber and Tim Rice and these absolutely wonderful musicians and the conductor. Well done.

I don't know why but I'm crying my eyes out here, this reminded me why I'm struggling so hard to become a composer
I love how we are able to actually watch the musicians and their craft (not easy at all in live POTO performances). Well done!
Magnificent! Lloyd Weber is truly a great composer.
Just search "Sunset Boulevarde Symphonic Suite" & Evita Symphonic Suite.
hd25's on, volume on max. This gives me chills. So beautiful and moving
I love this! I especially love watching the orchestra and hearing the use of the horns. Awesome! Can't get enough!
Wonderful as a musician, to see the camera going around and picking up individual players in action-love it!
Such beautiful music! Makes one forget all the negative stuff that is going on. Great musicians!
What a lovely rendition of this famous musical piece. 👍👏
I listened to it with good headphones and it sounds so amazing 😍
Love how this video shows how each section blends into the sound we hear.
Cuando llega el solo de trompas en el 14:51 se me pone la piel de gallina... espectacular
This man's music will always be a part of my life. Cool that we also share the same birthday
As I sit here listening/watching, I am transported back to the 2nd row, stage center, during the performance of Phantom! I have the original CD and listen often, but the absolutely lush sound of this orchestration is transformative.
What a fantastic performance, I was back in the London Theatre with my late wife, watching the performance with Michel Crawford and cast.
increible como de niño me impresionaba esta cancion sin llegarme a gustar, me daba incluso cierto miedo, tenia 10 años ahora a mis 40 años Dios que hermosa melodia
Definitely made me emotional. So beautiful
I want this played at my wedding thank you very much. ❤️
Music that moves us without words. Beautiful.
