ngl I always thought the weirder Titans prototypes were all "Scirocco did some crazy drugs on Jupiter and gave these designs to the Newtype labs" because of some old unconfirmed information from third party magazines way back in the early 2000s. Glad to know that there's technically more reasonable explanations for these things.
Paptimus Sirocco was a near perfect newtype human but then again that human part of him or his ego would contribute to his downfall, and who wouldn't? My man managed to scour funding, rise to the ranks, and even have his own mobile suit factory where he can test designs, give them to pilots of his choosing, and his charisma alone got him in the good sides of the Titans, he did all that so he could take over the world and he thought of it so far ahead that in case he died he created newtype clones of which his spirit can possess in order to achieve that goal no matter what, if he had only set aside his ego and his hatred against Kamille he could have achieve those in such a short time and he wouldn't need to act out his back up plan which is what happens in gundam walpurgis which happened between the end of zeta and near the start of double zeta and since double zeta happened that would mean he still failed in his goal to take over mankind and erase war, Paptimus managed to turn Kamille into an insane person through his spirit haunting him and even scared Haman with the only other person able to scare her being Judau, that alone says a lot about how great of a newtype Paptimus was and still that greatness of his only made him more arrogant that his idea of taking over man kind and erasing war is to remove every other emotion through some kind of newtype technology he had hidden in Jupitris
Although it is TECHNICALLY considered mildly non-canon, in the "MSV: Johnny Rhidden's return" manga, there is at least one known Airborne squadron on Earth that still uses the Asshimar. It's a relatively small force, but it IS in use.
I thought Asshimar was a burger. 😋 Also, Major Buran in Zeta said "spacenoids belong in space", funny as his MS was looking very much like an UFO, as you mentioned.
The best transforming mobile suit in 1/144 scale The Gaplant comes close but it feels a bit loose and has the potential to split in half mid-transformation
Asshimr is an example of Zeta Gundam getting carried away with transformable mobile suits. Not one of my favorite transformable designs, but it's certainly memorable for reasons the designers intended. Safe to say my favorite variant is Kehaar 2. For a gundam, it's surprisingly cool for looking almost nothing like a gundam. It doesn't have the both famous and also somewhat controversial parade color scheme; instead primarily white and blue like Ni-Nu and like that design, it works quite well here. I also think the mix of the unique head, the cockpit, and the crotch piece work well together. I also prefer its vehicle mode over that of the Asshimar; especially for those twin fins. I also like the Anksha better than Ashimar. It actually looks like one mean hooded figure; unlike the more strange looking Asshimar.
Given how much it had advanced, agree. They could debut transformable RG frames with a second shot of the Z Gundam, giving it the gimmick while being very stable
Maybe with recent RG format: less usage of advance joint and build the frame from the start they'll consider. RG Impulse can be example of that, it's not transformable MS in sense but still have some folding gimmick like transformable MS mostly do.
I love after the OYW Fed MS started resembling Zeon suits. Like the Zeon scientists they snatched up after the war were like fine we'll work for you. But in return everything gets the mono eye.
As a huge fan of the Barzam, that Musica is a trip to see, UC Engage is a wild game it would seem. Hoping a Barzam Development History vid might happen sometime in the future, no matter how long or properly short it'd be! Keep up the great work man!
It would be pretty long, the Barzam has alot of development behind it with the Hazel Gundams and the Gundam MkII converging to create it, then from there you have a couple different variants of the Barzam itself, as well as several successor units and also the fact it spiritually is related to the Jegan even. The Barzam is actually an incredibly important machine in UC
Honestly if a machine was that reliable I'd have made a agile, ground variant while trying to discard the flight aspect. Could've made for cheap, and easily armored machines that had back ups to its main sensor.
That would be an incredible waste of the frame mechanism(something that likely is expensive to produce relatively speaking). Also it would be quite large. You'd be better off stripping the sensor pattern and putting it on a dedicated ground type MS. Besides being able to fly trumps ground type use for most situations, if the Asshimar needed to be grounded it would simply not transform into the donut
"Can I copy your homework?" As a long time Macross fan (as well as Gundam), that made me laugh. One thing I always loved about Macross is that the fighter designs look practical. People have even made flying RC models of the VF-1. Gundam designs on the other hand don't make sense. Aerodynamically, they are horrible, they would give little advantage in an atmosphere (some few I think might actually be worse in fighter mode!). In space there is no atmosphere to worry about, so a fighter mode would be no help. While yes, visually some of Gundams transforming mechs are cool, on the practical side I can not imagine why anyone would have made them.

The second unit is the star spark Gundam, a hi streamer version of the spark Gundam like the hi nu Gundam piloted by kamille bidan during the second neo zeon war.
