I'm not a religious man, nowhere near it. I watch these gospel vids and I could wash my feet from the tears that won't stop. I talked about this with a friend of mine that's the most devout person I've known since my grandparents, he says it's the Holy Spirit that moves me to tears. I don't know what it is but I do feel better after listening to these songs.
Your words move me as l feel you feeling the loving energy these songs and her singing bring to your own heart’s spirit. One doesn’t have to be religious to feel the universal energy that moves through all sentient beings. 🤍 How beautiful your words.
For a non-believer, I am sure that you have inspired everybody that has read your message to tears. That means something. Tears never fall haphazardly but only on purpose.
Before I played this, I was listening to Ralph Stanley. If anything would bring me back in to the fold, it would be this music. This is the music of my mother and her mother, a Depression Era survivor full of grit and love of God.
Thanks to Suzanne andCoxFamily I’m a old man with cancer . When I listen to you and the family it helps to find peace of mind . God please give them my blessing for songs and the love they have . God bless you again . Kevin
Suzanne Cox's vocals are impeccable. A lesson in how a voice can provide emotion in every line and that's not something that can be taught with singing lessons This is a wonderful family band.
My guess is at least 3/4ths of the had a few too many bourbons and just clicked the wrong icon without realizing it. The others were from Los Angeles or New York i.e. soulless anyway.
I remember when I first seen the movie O Brother Where Art Thou, my parents and I went racing to Walmart to buy the soundtrack, still love it to this day
@@airwolf5826 It's the general tone of the movie, & one line, in particular, spoken by George Clooney, where he sneers at God. Both the music & cinematography are wonderful. 'Profanity' just means disrespect for God, & there's a lot of it about these days.
Take a deep breath - those of you commenting - families with these skills (vocally and instrumentally) are disappearing. Whether you "like it" , or not, its so much hard work to put this together, and yet so rewarding. I have a feeling that it wont happen again. The Cox Family are Giants. Ask Alison.
gomez8733 the traditions still alive and well in my area there's some family's that all they do is bluegrass and church lol there good people and young aswell
Having just heard the morning the sad news of a little girl dying of cancer at only eight years old, I thought about this song. This song provides some comfort to me. Bless her.
Man, this isn't just a performance...they truly feel and live through it and you can see and hear by looking at their faces or hearing her voice tremble that they barely get through it. wonderful.
I searched for YEARS trying to find who sang this song on OH BROTHER!! I would REWIND the video just to hear/ watch HER sing the SHORT clip. After 15 years I found it tonight with the lyrics from the movie....as a lover of PURE Music. Voice and instrument and Blue grass and Gospel I am so happy 😅
When you think of an angel singing you your final lullabye, Suzanne's voice is the one you hear in your head. it's the one we all hear. Anyone who has ever heard her voice will remember it always, and it will subconsciously become the voice of angels for the rest of your life.
This is the first time that I've actualy seen the Cox family perform although I have listened to their music many times, what an incredible voice that Suzanne has . she is as sweet as a nightingale in song and in my opinion quite a beautiful woman. I love you Suzanne.
My father-in-law sang with your beautiful family before his death.... He could really play the banjo, and had a voice of an angel his name was Cecil Evans, your family was on tour in Huntington, WV, and someone got sick so they called him, it was the most wonderful nite of my life..... THANK your family for letting his DREAM COME TRUE.......
I was taken at birth and given away to bad people and was homeless and alcoholic for a long time after that, I finally found my mother but she died 2 days before I was supposed to meet her so when I first heard this song it just about killed me. I'm sure I'll meet her someday though, when one or both of your parents dies before you have met them it sort of forces you to believe in the afterlife anyway...
My father just passed away suddenly and I believe this song holds the key as to why he left us without a word. My father was not ill, he was going great guns the day before and the next day he passed away peacefully in his sleep. I am trying to find out the true meaning of this song so that my mum and our family can feel at peace as these are the last words I believed my father left for us. How we came about this song is that my father was a lover of bluegrass and he plays on a regular basis with his group of friends. My sister asked them to perform a song on the day of service and one of the guys mentioned that my father was really keen on this song. My father rarely showed his sentimental side as most music he played was funny and very happy but this song is really out of the ordinary. That leads me to believe that my father left this song as a parting message to us. Please someone help me to understand this song more so that my mum can share his final message.
Golfer Fore I wish I knew what to say that would make everything clear, but I hope and pray that the true meaning for those of us that have experienced sudden heartbreak is the lyric, “angels wait to take me home”.
My dad's side of the family was like this...very musically inclined. My dad could play just about any instrument. My Aunt Frances sounded like Allison K. and my Aunt Ruth was a cross between Suzanne and Allison. During the summer they would get together and jam just like this. My dad had written a few songs that some how got recorded and then he heard it on the Oprey show. He was always sore at that issue til the end. Back then they made songs that no one really put a claim to...just made songs for the sake of having music and expressing themselves and country living.
I am personally smitten by the beauty of her soul which comes through in her song. I hope to meet her someday... she is my inspiration.i love her to the dephts of my heart..i know she has her own life and children and this is only a personal fantasy..but I think she is my soulmate.. ilove her with all my heart..i just cant get her out of my mind.
i commend you for your love that you have confessed it is a pity ....I feel like that for my soulmate but he could not see it now im to live a lonely life until I die
What a truly Devine and comfortable thought. Love her voice; must be or have been a true blessing to sing with them. Thank The Lord for their wonderful blending voices!!
I second the comment from Tim Cox. The way the performers relate to one another on stage reveals a connection and "authenticity" to their sound, something I think is very rare in music today. The family element may have a lot to do with that. I also can't say enough about Suzanne's beautiful and moving voice.
Love this song and this video. I could watch it over and over. Love the harmony and the way that Willard's pride and love of his children shows. Reminds me so much of my dad when we sang together. I can still remember that little smile like he does at :39, Also, notice he is wiping tears at the end.
WONDERFUL SINGING !!!!!!!! REMINDS ME OF MY DAD'S YOUNGER BROTHER THAT DIED OF DOUBLE PNEUMONIA AT ABOUT 14 YRS. OLD AFTER HE AND DAD WENT ICE SKATING IN THE WINTER . i dont see how they can get through this performance without crying. soul wrenching. love it.
I think there is a tear being wiped away at 3:24.
Probably because they left him in a nursing home to die instead of loving him at home until he passed.
I can't even get through this without cryin! Gets me everytime.
Patrick Reilly Same... I've tried to sing and play it as well, ain't happening. Catfish John sung by Alison Krauss also

I am NEVER weary of Susan Cox's voice.
Suzanne's control of her articulators make this look effortless.... She is singing LOUD and it looks like she's whispering. Incredible
How did my YT algorithm know I was sad tonight. Voice of an Angel.

Love and Prayers for you 🙏 may God 🙏 comfort and Bless you 🙏 now, Hallelujah, Amen 🙏 🙌 👏 ❤️

A lesson in how a voice can provide emotion in every line and that's not something that can be taught with singing lessons This is a wonderful family band.
I'm pretty sure it's about a relative so the emotion is real
Tho whole family even the younger ones that sing now are incredible.

Exactly, it transcends genre

Suzanne has such a plain and simple appearance but when that voice comes out she becomes the sexiest woman around. I'm in love.
Funny you should say that - I thought the same thing when I saw this video. What a beautiful face!
(peeks around corner... Whispers discretely...)
Agreed.
(disappears...)
It's the eyes. You can gain weight in your eyes. Plus, the voice definitely helps.
I think she's gorgeous!
She's beautiful, so is her voice
Who would down vote a lovely song like this.
I wish my father had looked at me just once like Willard looks at Suzanne. He is so proud of his daughter and rightfully so.
I remember watching this during the o brother where art thou concert and was in awe of her voice. The cox family is the real deal.

The music in the movie is wonderful but movie itself is profane, like all modern-day movies. Industry is corrupt, can't you see it?
It's a great film.

Thanks for the lecture. But I think most people already know that. We know about country music families.
Ain't that the sad truth. They are destroying everything that is lovely or Godly.
The love within their family is clear to those with eyes who can see and ears that can hear.
I’m working on it with my kids. They’re all talented, and beginning to love these old time songs.
