i rmbr when the movie "o brother....." came out. i had to have the soundtrack because of the great music. this song, "i am weary, let me rest" is just beautiful. i love mrs. suzanne's voice as she conveys a very special message about the LORD and "mama." we all need "mama." i cherish this. thank u for your song. 💯💪❤
Being from generations of Tennessee and Georgia hill folks all I can explain the music is that it is a grand mix of deep soul bending emotion and experience...mixing with the traditions,faith in God and country hard work and being poor all your life but always finding love and security in your kin and in the beauty of the hills and mountains around you in nature and rejoicing in spite of...and I can remember using a real outhouse up on the side of the hill,churning butter with my great grandmother and sometimes going to the radio station on Sunday mornings with all cousins ,Granny ,Aunts to sing on the radio show with their church choir...My Great grandmother was Cherokee Indian and had a huge tobacco farm around her little wooden house and a huge mean mule who always tried to bite me...that's been over 50 years ago and my sister and I have become members of the nation since...
Lord, how I am missing my dear mother, who has been gone from me these thirty years, now. What amazing love, patience, faith and perseverance she manifested toward her eight children after her husband abandoned the family! Rest in the arms of Jesus, my beloved mother.
