After I saw the movie "O' Brother, Where Art Thou", I played this song over and over- just couldn't get enough of it. As a few people mentioned, it gives me a feeling of peace. Love the words. I also related it to someone that I knew that passed away and wanted the grieving husband to hear it. But, he just didn't like blue grass. Sad, but true.
played this song for my Dad & Mother when they pass they loved the Cox Family so do i ; i have pic of me & Suzanna Cox great song Suzanna ; Sidney ; Lynn ; Evelyn & there dad Willard Cox
I am so truly sorry for your loss of your precious daughter. May our heavenly Father wrap his arms around her and make his Love shine upon your family, as his new wonderful angel enters heaven.
My sister-in-law heard this song weeks before her passing and asked that it be song at her funeral. Then she changed her mind and said it would be too painful for her mother to hear. I really miss her.
My father just passed away suddenly and I believe this song holds the key as to why he left us without a word. My father was not ill, he was going great guns the day before and the next day he passed away peacefully in his sleep. I am trying to find out the true meaning of this song so that my mum and our family can feel at peace as these are the last words I believed my father left for us. How we came about this song is that my father was a lover of bluegrass and he plays on a regular basis with his group of friends. My sister asked them to perform a song on the day of service and one of the guys mentioned that my father was really keen on this song. My father rarely showed his sentimental side as most music he played was funny and very happy but this song is really out of the ordinary. That leads me to believe that my father left this song as a parting message to us. Please someone help me to understand this song more so that my mum can share his final message.
"I am weary, let me rest".No matter how happy you are,i truly believe there comes an appointed time to go, and when that time nears, you get homesick for a place you don't even remember."I am standing by the river, angels wait to take me home". Yes, home,God created us, and God will call us home. i hope you and your mama find peace.
Our loving Heavenly father created his sons and daughters of his own likeness. As a person, we had no clew of how the passing in to God's kingdom worked. God lent us his own son "Jesus", to teach us God's words, which were documented in to the NEW TESTIMENT. When Jesus died on the cross, even he as flesh and blood, asked if his father forsaken him, but knew God will never forsake YOU. God loves you so very much. As we cross to the other side, We ask God to help us be a better person, to lead by example, and to do this BEFORE we cross over. Matthew chapter 5. Blessed are the pure in heart, for they SHALL see God. Please read the New testament, as it has many answers for all your questions and ALWAYS remember John 3:16.
To Golfer Fore - This song is definitely based on the Holy Bible and what it teaches us about departing this life. Jesus teaches that the person who dies in Christ is not really dead; only sleeping, awaiting the time of their resurrection (Job 19:26). It also depicts the deep love of the Christian marriage as she does her best to save his life. Also the angels waiting for him is taught to us in Luke ch16 as the angels received Lazarus into heaven. I am standing by the river is metaphorical as this is the River Jordan that is the border into the Promised Land (which is heaven). The deep and lonely grave is expressing the finality and sorrow of this physical life but causes us to focus on the spiritual part of us which the Bible teaches will go into the presence of God. (to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord). Another remarkable part of this song is how well the write knew the holy scriptures. It is a very special song and the testimony of your father using it to express a departing message is quite believable.
