I talked to a girl friend about a crush I was having. My crush was pretty, very nice and sometimes flirty. But she was mentally ill and would sometimes disappear for a week because she struggled with depression and anxiety. I told my friend that this girl would totally be my type is she was healthy. That was after 2 months of chasing her and finally concluding that she wasn't ready for what I was looking for. My friend then said that it is ok to be friends with someone even if you have feelings for them. I thought that was good advice and my former crush is now one of my best friends. We still flirt but I know what to expect, not a girlfriend but a friend. We even go on dates once a month or so but we have both agreed that it would be unwise to try a relationship. Exactly because she isn't mentally available. So I date other girls. Maybe I find a match some day.

What i hate about my crush is that she was very into me for like 4 months (August to December), wanted me to begin at her gym, wanted to have "taco evenings", going out to restaurants ETC. Then suddenly she just wasnt interested anymore, she used to start convos every other day up until about 1-2 months ago (so we talked everyday), then she started convos two times a week, and now she sends them maybe once a week or not at all. Last Friday was the last time she started a convo, and she complimented a picture i had just posted. But overnight from Friday to Saturday she just stopped showing an interest, and when i sent her messages this week i just got extremely lazy replies. Its just so annoying... But the crush wasnt healthy, i could feel i got more and more jealous of the people she hanged with because she said she didnt have time to hang with me (she pretty much only hangs with people who parties and drinks, which i dont.). We hang together one time in early December when she got me to start at her gym, that was it, she still started convos for like a month or two, but now she`s stopped. She doesnt seem to be in a good place mentally tho, but thats not really my problem when she blocks me out (to be clear, im not blocked). She also keeps posting stuff about how she easily looses attachment to people, how she stuggles finding her own identity ETC. When i started talking with her she had a friend group she always hanged with, then in December she just stopped hanging with them, i never saw her post them on her stories or anything ever again, now its a new friend group.
