I realised that with longer dresses it works for me best if I wear a harnass of sorts on top or a corset to make me feel less like I am drowning in the sillouette
I just love the Kibbe system! My daughter and I have realized that the gamine/ flamboyant gamine specifications are exactly what look great on her. It’s such fun to go thrift shopping and find good pieces for her. It doesn’t matter what’s on trend as much as what works on her. I’m flamboyant natural and looking forward to FN summer video- although I’ve been following this approach for several years and will probably not be surprised by your advice!

The style tips given for gamines given in this video apply to all age groups. Choose which aesthetics/styles/trends suit you personally. Look for narrow silhouettes, fitted through the hips, knee length or below, show your ankles (in dresses, skirts and/or pants), choose higher necklines if wearing longer dresses, choose crisper, heavier fabrics, smaller, sharper prints, geometric designs, stripes, and color blocking. Avoid over voluminous styles. Audrey Tautou (shown as the Gamine example at the beginning of the video) is 46 years old. Given she is a celebrity, her style might be to creative for some.
Why would you dress up based on your age? Age doesn't matter. Just go for the style you have always liked and wear the clothes you enjoy wearing:)

Oh wow, I think this video pretty much sealed it for me, I am a gamine. I used to wonder why I can't pull off wide denim pants, but now here I have my answer. I look great in skinny jeans and will never get rid of them, and in slim pants that have a stiffer fabric, like 100% cotton denim.
You look so beautiful, Aly, the hairstyle and these colors suit you very much!
I’m pretty sure I am FG and I prefer dresses that end just above the knee or go down to the ankle. I also like sharp a line skirts and somewhat fitted tops a lot. I have no curve in the Kibbe sense but I have a very pronounced waist and wide hips so waist emphasis works really well as long as I keep the outlines and materials sharp and crisp. I always think of my body as a petite hourglass but instead of rounded lines, it’s straight lines like an X shape.
You Look like a doll Aly ❤I think when Aly says 'We' when She's talking about gamines She means that's her type. I may be wrong about that but I can see more sharpness in her outfits since She told us She thinks she's not a soft gamine anymore.
I would love to see a video that combine gamine with different essences! I think I want to just start with assuming I’m a gamine as a base. For sure I’m a gamine lol I just want to look mature and respectable. I feel like I either get lost or I feel like I’m showing so much skin or immodest.

If you haven't already I would love one for Romantics and theatrical Romantics! I feel like I fall between the two, like if I go too romantic then it looks off but if I go too theatrical Romantic it looks off as well, when I do a bit of a blend i look great, so 🤷♀️😆

Oh my gosh that was amazing my mum in heaven was/is a gamine and this was everything she did and she really started to look her best when she clicked she was a gamine body type. she always sort of knew but it unleashed her and these points were all bang on so helpful - great work Aly I know this will help so many people I hope they give it a try sometimes it sounds so simple but it makes all the difference these little elements

Thank you so much! I live in a country with tropical weather and have tried to apply the general rules to what i wear off work. My staple for looking a little elevated are pleated high-waisted shorts. Finding denim shorts can be a little difficult, they always make them super short and it's not comfy! I got myself some linen cropped shirts with no sleeves and mao collar, i love them so much.

Oversize is a great indicator of belonging to Natural body type family. Although I am tall and have broad shoulders, I excluded Flamboyant Natural because I do not look good on oversized lines. I am Soft Dramatic.

You are unbelievably accurate, I dress exactly the way you described it although I have to combine it with Romantic style as I'm between gamine and romantic type, not skinny, not too curved, not too sporty and quite proportionate. So I think that must be between the two types. ❤😊

Barely 5'2" under 90 lbs. gamine here! It's so hard either not looking like a too young girl or like a boy. Ha! I like loose clothing, but sometimes look lost in billowy dresses or shirts.

I really like romantic dresses, so i wear them with a denim jacket and sandals and my hair up bc my hair is long and wavy but i do not want to cut it 😫 so i tie it

I will never understand why discarded classics, gamines and naturals, they definitely exist!!
I wont ever be sure wich type I am.. while I am short and slightly boyish long skirts and bootcut jeans make me look and feel the best. And I can’t say if I am flamboyant or soft gamine because I am really sporty with soft flesh, on my knees f.ex. my calves are heavy, too and I have big hands and feet (compared to the rest of my small frame) and big facial features on a big head.

Are you sure all gamines are angular and straight ? Because I belive im a gamaine as I am petite and delicate and often describes as cute yet my body romantic looking as I have wider hips and a big bust at 5ft tall, with that being said I don't think this applys to a wide range of gammines.

I'm a soft gamine but I look best in romantic /TR lines , the lines for Gamines don't work well for me . Mini dresses , 20s dresses , boxy tops/jackets , stripes, v necks, stiff materials and sharp collars, pleats or pixie hair cuts do not look right on me.

You can. Just wear something tea length (6 inches above the ankle) with some waist emphasis, arms showing but with a higher neckline. Or if you wear spaghetti straps you could add a nice choker to focus the eyes upward. I always find that the right length of statement earrings helps a lot too. I like earrings that are around 1 1/2 to 2 inches long with a colorful stone.

What they said ^ Also don't fall into the trap of thinking certain styles are off limits.. I've learnt that there's almost always a way to make things work. You just have to figure out why it doesn't work, and look for stuff with elements that work. E.g. you want to wear a flowy dress, look for one that has the gamine elements like the previous commenters recommended...high neckline, sharp contrast, and lots of small accessories - earrings, rings, bracelets. When you look in the mirror you should see little accents all over your body and outfit (ofc I'm assuming you're a gamine and basing off of my own experience) Remember "best" doesn't mean "only"...it just means that'll probably get you where you want with least effort, but I have a lot of fun trying to make things work as well
