      That because DC clothing is boring and a bit “old” looking. I love DC for winter. Looks super sharp… but as a young woman a lot of our style recommendations for DC are not age appropriate and make us look older than we are 😢

      @@EvaLou42 For real! My style is more 1700s men‘s fashion. Especially riding attire! But it‘s cool because the Kibbe System still works! A long tailcoat maintains a long vertical line and provides sharp details like the lapels, so it works :)

    It seems that all the lines recommended for classics are very similar, with slight differences in detailing that don't seem to make a big difference. I would classify myself as either a pure classic or soft classic, but I prefer wearing dramatic classic details as they make me look more formal while soft classic lines make me look more casual. But I can't tell whether one of these looks more harmonious on me than the other

    I'm a dramatic classic, I get the most compliments in suits, classic pieces, trench coats, old money preppy outfits. BUT, Kibbe says classics gain weight mainly on the hips, which isn't the case for me, and doesn't look like the case for the example celebs you showed. I gain weight equally all over, which I think is what a moderate classic means? Isnt it supposed to be romantics who have luscious hips that get plumper with weight?

    • @katitadeb
      @katitadeb 9 месяцев назад +8

      Don't focus on where you gain weight or what Kibbe says about these details, fabric weight, garment's construction and how it fits your body is way more important, Kibbe is a dressing system after all

    Spot on for me...thank you! Now I understand why loose light fabric tops like t-shirt with drape neck etc never suit me. Unpopular opinion perhaps… but very thin dramatic classics can often be mistaken for flamboyant gamines OR at the very least pull off a lot of FG clothes. So if you feel drab or “old” in these kind of straight, tailored, monochrome clothes and you tend to be on the leaner side… try some more playful gamine stuff (especially for summer). I’m about 5’7 120 lbs but I can totally raid my FG mom’s closet and a lot of her clothes work AMAZINGLY well for me… and to be real FG clothes are way more fashionable, sexy, and fun than DC clothes 😅
    Side note… Audrey Hepburn was (in my personal opinion) a severely underweight DC who had a lot of FG essence and she’s literally the kibbe prototype of FG… so there’s that lol

    I'm a dramatic classic, with slight undertones (according to the Kibbe quiz) of flamboyant gamine. I'm somewhere between 5'6" & 5'7". I lean more into the dramatic classic body lines for what I'm looking for in my own clothing, but I've found certain lines from the flamboyant gamine can fit my body style. It's be fairly hard for me to find Summer dresses and skirts that I enjoy wearing because the fabric looks and feels like a bed sheet to me normally, but leaning towards chiffon makes a lot of sense! I've also found that I can wear a A-line skirts and dresses, so long as they don't have too much flare and fabric---so more like a partial A-line than a full A-line. Fit & flares also tend to be my favourites as well! Do any dramatic classics have any other clothing recommendations?

    • @EvaLou42
      @EvaLou42 Год назад +3

      This is me too. I think Audrey Hepburn (kibbe verified and prototype FG) was a very thin DC… so I think DCs can often look and feel better in FG lines/style. I’m constantly raiding my FG mom’s closet 😅 but if you’re looking for style inspiration for this DC/FG “type” just look no further than Audrey Hepburn.

    Hello! I consider myself DC (I'm angular, 5'7 and have long thin bones) however I have well-defined waist, I'm an hourglass or even pear-ish. Giving that can I be DC or it's another type? At first I thought I could be classic but angularity shifted my thinking towards DC
    You also mentioned contrast look good on DC, what kind of contrast can you recommend for soft summer type? since we are no so good in high contrast and morre soft, muted. Or soft contrast also counts?
    And the last question is what dress is on the 5:00 ? can you tell the brand?
    Thanks a lot for your videos! love them!!! You're doing such a serious work !

      @taisiiakrivoruchenko8011- Ellie Jean at Body and Style did a great video on Colour Seasons and how to interpret them which I think could be helpful for you with this! Basically, you just use the versions of colours in your colour palette that best fits the description. So instead of lemon yellow and royal blue (think Snow White - a Winter) your high contrast might be dusky pink and hunter green.

    Hi Aly, thanks a lot!!! Did i hear IT right: we can wear/look good in contrasted colours/patterns in shirts/blouses and trousers?
    and especially contrast near the face?
    For example stripes at the top and polka dots/flowers at the bottom but the patterns or colors should have a strong contrast? I'm a summer type (soft or true) + who doesn't harmonize so well with bold colors...

    • @EvaLou42
      @EvaLou42 Год назад +2

      Yes… totally supports my theory in the cross over towards Flamboyant gamine in thinner DCs. The thinner the DC the more she probably can/should lean towards FG… the softer the DC the more she should stick to the traditional DC recommendations.
      For example, in this video she mentions a “twiggy” inspired 60s dress for DC. Twiggy was a kibbe verified FG. This is a good recommendation more for the leaner DCs… for curvier or overweight DCs they should avoid color blocking (especially with bright colors) or anything too short, angular, boxy, or asymmetrical. Stick to the classic DC look with a long silhouette and a monochromatic look.

    Hello Aly, once again, a very well detailed explanation of dramatic classic style. Of all the body types, I resonate most with the dramatic classic type. I've made up my mind, that's what I am, as opposed to a dramatic gamine. I had a bit of confusion going on, especially since I am only 5'4". Though people often think I am taller.
    I have an unusual "request" may I suggest that you use the words "bottom" or "bum" instead of "butt" ? It's just more classy.
    Also, when you talked about "calves" you pronounced it as " cuffs", which is that extra fold at the bottom of your pants.
    English teacher here, I hope it's not offensive.
    Cheers!
