I’ve been living at my new home for 5 months showering with almost cold water and my cartridge is older but looking at this video helped me fix it! Thank you so much
I've been living in my house for 4 years, in the master bath shower would just never get as hot as I would like it ( It's warm at best). For some reason it popped into my head today to look up any information.. I guess I better get after it!!
we have the second type with the black stopper but the mixer would stop when turning clockwise and the water was still scalding hot, so we couldn't get any cold water at all. I removed the stopper and put the handle back on, then just kept rotating it back and forth a bunch of times and it would slowly move clockwise a little bit each time until it was completely free and I could turn it all the way and get just cold water. looks like it was just stuck from hard water buildup, so this video gave me the confidence to force it clockwise knowing that it wouldn't break, and saved me from having to replace it. thank you!
Awesome video! I just bought my first house and a shower only has hot water. I figured it had something to do with the insides! I’ll take it apart and try adjusting it to the colder setting! Thanks again for a great video!
Thank you so much. I was waiting to close in a back wall until I looked into this as we have "ok" temps but not as hot as needed. Really appreciate the learning!
any tips for this: my shower or even most of the house , the water is scorching hot even where it should be warm. I like taking colder showers but the water temp where it should be cold is only Luke warm and nothing more,, any tips? is it because my water temperature is to high?
I fixed my water issue, but now I'm stuck with the water not being able shut off...unless I turn off the main valve😬! Can you please tell me what I've done wrong😭
I used to have really scolding hot water in my shower that lasted for a long time. Then maintenance changed the knob and ever since it only gets warm and doesn’t last as long. Ty for the help
If it’s really old they don’t have that u will need a New shower cartridge try turning your hot water up on your hot water heater usually located near the furnace there will be a little knob that says hotter or colder
Okay...so I get you need an alan wrench and to turn it counter-clockwise. It's not coming out. Afraid the screw is warped. Just to ask what size does the alan wrench need to be and is is standard or metric? If the screw is warped what do I need to do?
I have turned off my water heater since June. Do you think this will help me. I really need cold water my kids are complaining water is too hot. We are a family of 4 and after we are done showering and doing laundry at the same time water keeps running hot.
Turn down your water heater some. If there was a previous owner they may have turned it up. Figure out what you have and search the net or yt for directions on adjusting water heater. Most gas watee heaters have a simple knob. Dont turn it all the way off just down some. Maybe get a thermometer and test the water temps before and after.
Some of those anti scald rings need to be pulled out before adjusting. My old shower had a ring that needed to be removed and put back in, at a different angle to turn the hot water up. Nice video though. A visual example is always easier than a written one.
Okay mystery solved, that bitch took a star socket #10. I spent 20 minutes trying to force different allen sizes, my god so frustrating. I got it set up now good though.
At 1:37 you say colder colder freezing. How the heck the water becomes freezing cold? For that matter, how does it become colder than base supply line temperature? My son wanted to have very cold showers and because of what you claimed, he believes it is possible and wants me to rip the cover, handle, sealant, and adjust the settings. But, in spite of that, thanks for some useful info.
He is probably referring to areas where water in the incoming line gets very cold during the winters. I live in the northeast and have to adjust the hot temperature of my water heater to account for this as the seasons change. At lower temperature it takes a higher flow of hot water to warm up the super cold water, making the house run out of hot water faster.
I followed the instruction and got hot water at about 110F for longer than 5 minutes the first time. But the next time without any changes, I got hot water at 110F for about 2 minutes and then it dropped to 100F. Could someone help? David Me

No need

Hi. I have the side screws leaking on mine. The ones you have each side with the flat head. How are these called? Thanks
Purchase a roll of thread, tape wrap it around, counterclockwise a few times and then screw it back on. Should stop leaking.
I was about the pick up the phone to call a plumber... Thank you so much for sharing this. That was easy as pie!! 🥧☺️
Thank you for showing me this! No more cold showers.
You bet!

What is the name of the first part because I haven’t been able to find that specific part at all
I've been living with a barely warm shower for 4 years, instead of a hoter shower like I like.. Thank you!!
Should you turn off water first, or can you adjust with water still on?
No need to turn off water
Thanks for the easy to follow fix , just had a walk in installed and once I got the handle off the rest was easy .
Thank you man! You saved me from taking cold showers
Oh man I just had my shower re-tiled so I have to tear it down to have this fixed! Crys

Thank you! Worked like a charm and now I get to enjoy hot showers!
Colder showers are better, so I will try this.
Praise you. Going to try this. Just moved into a new place and the water is FREEZING AF.
Your welcome
Thank you! I knew this was possible, I just Ed needed to know how to get to it.
Do you have to cut the water off to do this?
Not on the style I have
Does the water have to be shut off at the shower to do this?
Not on this style cartridge
I fixed my water issue, but now I'm stuck with the water not being able shut off...unless I turn off the main valve😬! Can you please tell me what I've done wrong😭
But can you do this while the water is still on to the house?
I used to have really scolding hot water in my shower that lasted for a long time. Then maintenance changed the knob and ever since it only gets warm and doesn’t last as long. Ty for the help
I have a three knob shower. Is that in the middle or left shower knob??
If it’s really old they don’t have that u will need a New shower cartridge try turning your hot water up on your hot water heater usually located near the furnace there will be a little knob that says hotter or colder

Do I have to turn the water off in order to adjust this from super hot to normal warm

Kool I was thinking you needed metric Allen wrench’s

Mine for like four years, I thought it was where I lived etc.
I want that shit cold. My basement shower is cold for 30 seconds then warm water comes through even on the coldest setting.
