It is an easy project to adjust the hot water temperature either up or down for a delta shower/tub valve. There are a few different types of valves and rotation limit stops but most of them will work in a similar fashion to the one in this video. Let me know if you have any additional questions by leaving a comment to this video and best of luck with your Everyday Home Repairs!

You made my moms day. I sent her your video (since i was out of town, her new faucet was ice cold) and she fixed her faucet all be herself. Thanks brother.
I am so grateful to you for making this video. I was so tired of a mere lukewarm shower and I plan on enjoying many hot showers in the future. You truly are a lifesaver.
Here to help 🙌
A big thank you from me and the rest of my family. We just bought a new house and I've been playing with the boiler for a week now. Watched your video and BOOM!!!! We have a hot shower!!! 👏
Fixed it for me in less than 5 min. Just finished bathroom remodel and I was dreading have to call contracture about this issue. Fixed it myself. It was even easier with with the delta universal valve. The plastic ring is labeled “adjustable” and you just pull it out slightly and turn it left, dont even have to take it off. Thank you so much!!
Hi Janelle. It’s Janel 😊. Quick question...did you have to turn your water supply to the house off before you did this?
Just what I was looking for. My system looked a little different but easy enough to figure out. My wife will be happy to finally be able to take a nice hot shower. Thanks!
My mom hired someone who obviously didn't know what he was doing when he installed the new shower valve. I had no hot water for months until now. Thank you, thank you, thank you for this tremendous video!!!
Thanks Michael.
Most times it is factory set to being scalded. The plumber should have asked you.
I just followed this guys directions. I was only getting warm water at the master tub/shower combo. I was literally going to pay some plumber to do this--I think i just saved at least a $100 service call!!! I did it. All done. I have hot water again! Thank you so much!! Now to get the melted plastic off my dishwasher heating element...sigh.
Hey Builder Girl, way to get after it and I would say it's a safe bet you saved at least $100. Best of luck with that dishwasher 😬
We haven’t used our second shower since we moved in to the house because it just didn’t get hot and we were considering getting a separate water heater for that shower. I knew it had to be an easy fix since our other bathroom has hot water. And I was right! Thanks to your video I fixed a 5 year problem in 10 min!!
Same here mine been a 16yr problem 😕 and that was all it took
Wow! I needed this ! Thank you so much! Single mother here and we were not sure why the water was always so cold ! Amazing thank you !
Dude thank you, my supervisors at work just told me to turn the water heater knob, as a rookie I can now show them something
I have pfister shower. But also has the anti-scalding valve. As I watched this video, it's not even a valve issue. It's basically a limiter device to limit the handle/valve from opening. Mine was slightly different than the Delta as shown, but still the same concept. I was done in 5 minutes. Thanks so much. No more cold showers here
Nice Kevin!
Really thanks for this video, my family moved to a new house and we didn't hot water in the shower for around 4 days, now we are enjoying taking again thanks to this video.
Hey Harry, good to hear. Glad the video helped and enjoy the hot 🚿
Thanks a ton. This was a 1 minute fix after watching this. I had no idea there was a limiter built into this.
Bless you good sir. I’m a single mom and when the plumber came in and left with “no drip” but all of a sudden a cold shower…I was beside myself.
Thank you!!! Watching this video, it took me less than 2 minutes to solve this problem!
Awesome! 🙌
Thank you!!! I have been taking horrible lukewarm baths until your video! 👍🏼
Hey Danielle, lukewarm is no way to start your day. Glad the video was able to help fix the issue.
Omg thank you! Scalding hot, skin melting showers, here comes me!!! 💛😍
Feel The Burn 🔥👍
Man who you tellin
KSKDKSK😭
🤣😂🤣
😂😂😂
This video is a life saver!! Just adjusted both showers in my home!!👍👍
Thank you, brother, I have been taking cold shower for three weeks, but now I have take a wonderful one. God bless you.
Yeah buddy, I got you 👊
You saved my life with this one. I had moved in and took cold showers for a month!!! Thanks
Here to help, enjoy the 🔥
It is a fate worse than death, isn't it?
@@Pre-Expatriate 💯
Thank you for this video! We just had a shower remodel and the water wasn't getting hot...I was able to fix this in less than 5 min
👏
Michelle Hultberg same here. I was thinking it was my water heater.
Louis, good point as often it could be the heat dial on the water heater being set too low.👍
Thanks man our landlord "fixed" my shower after the first knob broke but I've since then been stuck with cold water for like almost 2 years now and he didn't know how to fix it now I can finally take a warm shower in my own bathroom instead of our other shower
Thank you, my water was scalding hot, so i just did the opposite. You saved my parents a lot of money!
Thank u very much, almost made a big mistake and tore everything apart. U saved me a bundle of money I don't have.
I cannot thank you enough for this video!! Sending you all the good vibes! It’s now December and I was getting tired of these like warm showers!❤️
My husbands so impressed with me right now. Thanks for the help !
How could you have any dislikes,,,it was fast, efficient and simple. Good job bro.
Not having hot water is a delicate topic. 😁
Thanks man for the video. The contractor who installed my new tube & faucet made no mention of this.
Yep first time in a month I took a hot shower it's an American Alan head not the other. Excellent video
Many thanks.. a handyman wanted to charge me $40 for adjust the valve. You're a live saver
Thanks a million...the place I stay pays the water and power and I couldn't figure out why one got hotter than the other...now I know...thanks!
Let me save you five minutes. Remove handle with required bit, move limiter to the left, put handle back on
THANK YOU!!😂
True, but this video is helpful for people who are new to doing stuff like this
Awesome bro!
Clockwise. Not to the left.
My limiter won't go farther to the left and the water is slightly less warm. What do I do?
Thank you so much! Now o can help my landlord fix the problem.😊
🤦♂️
This is awesome! Just had a rand new shower overhaul and have not been able to take the hot shower that I have wanted. I sure feel like I can get this done and enjoy my shower the right way...HOT!! Thank you!
🔥 🚿 👍
Thank you. My delta was a little different but concept was the same. Mine was pull and rotate counter clockwise.
Thank you very much! Fixed this problem in 10 mins. Thank you, your video was very clear and easy to follow ❤❤❤
you sir, are a lifesaver my family just moved into i new house and the water in our basement shower where i live gets lukewarm and i like the water scalding hot so thanks so much
Bought a new house and this just saved me so much money omg thank you so much for this
Thanks for the info. I was afraid I screwed up the install until I found this!
You read my mind when you mentioned different styled handles / knobs
Give this man a medal!
Just now watching (March, '23). Almost a great video - lacking was what we couldn't see when your hand was covering the 'adjustment' (could you have moved the camera to the side?).
Also - like the others I watched - you should have advised viewers to close or cover the drain so when the Philips head screw gets dropped it doesn't get lost ('cause it's gonna happen, sooner or later!). 😀
I appreciate the instruction, as we replaced the water heater and needed more hot water in the shower. I'm assuming the previous owners negatively adjusted the valve to make the lack of hot water last longer (we had to cut a door into the block foundation to replace the hot water heater). Your video is 4 years old, but will never go out of date!
Thank you tons and tons! Was able to figure it out with the help of your video! Yay! 😊😊😊
Thx a lot, did not know such an easy fix. 🎉
Thanks for the video and getting to the point quickly.
Great video! This was exactly why my shower wasn't getting hot. Very easy fix with your help! Thank you
Saved me a lot of money and headaches, thanks!
Thanks a lot, your video helped us with the guest bathroom
Bro I almost called a plumber...thank God for you...I subscribed because of this video
Welcome to the channel 👍
Thank you for your video. I fixed my shower's low temperature issue.
Thank you for posting this helpful video
You bet!
Omg. THANK YOU! Hot showers at last!!!
Thanks a lot to your instructional video. I was able to fix the issue myself without calling a plumber which I’ve fix it for only 15 minutes.
Tks buddy...you just saved me a tone of time and money thumbs up to you!
Happy to help!
I love you, sir. 😍 No more lukewarm showers! Wish I’d found this months ago!
Hahaha, don’t know how much you love hot showers till they are gone. 👍
Super helpful!! Thank you!
Oh man! This video is such a blessing. Thank you.
Thanks for making it easy!
Thanks a lot! The fix worked for me❤
So easy, mine didn't have the adaptor with the screw, just had to remove the handle with the supplied allen wrench. However, it would be good to note that your faucet is sort of backwards to mine, I had to turn my white plastic threaded thing COUNTER-clockwise to make it warmer.
Hi. What size allen wrench did you use? TIA
thanks just got my newly bought house up to temp with this
Yeah, classic that new homes are set a bit low.
Wow thank you soooooo much for this video my shower is the only one that doesn't get hot and I hate using my KIDS!!! bathroom to shower 😩🤣 Thanks again
Thanks! This was so easy but we wouldn’t have known how to do it.
Just what I needed! Thank you!
Happy to help!
This was very helpful. Thanks.
You're welcome!
Bless you. No more cold showers.
They say cold showers are good for you 🥶
I stripped my screw trying to get it out. Some deltas have a set screw in that inside screw that also needs an Allen wrench. I wish mine had been easy like this one. So to others be careful if you have a tiny screw into side of this gold screw it has to come out and then both plastic guards pried off to move. They didn't just turn to the right. But still thanks for the video. Just watch a few until you find one with your delta faucet.
Good advice in terms of being careful not to strip the screw. Turns into a big pain in the butt once stripped . Been there before 👎
I think this is my type of delta I cant figure it out. I got the handleoff but hther is no philips screw
thankyou, i figured it had to be easy and my income is saying try doing this first!
Would have been great if you had mentioned the size of the Allen wrench, since it's impossible to see/measure in that small hole, and I'll have to buy one to do this.
ave a handle with a screw hole in the middle on the front of the handle, not the top or bottom, that I cant get it off. I can't find any tool to go in the hole and latch onto anything. How would you suggest I get it off?
Very helpful video. Thanks
What size Allen wrench to remove the handle??? My shower is Luke warm and it's 8 degrees outside!
Yes what size ?!
Thank you ...you just saved my marriage. Great job.
Excellent. Thanks very much.
This video saved the day -- thank you!
You are freaking awesome!
Thanks for explaining the right way betterthan the instructions!
Quick and easy!! Thank you!!!!
You're welcome!
Thanx to you and mostly to RUclips for the post
Thank you so much for this information
My pleasure
Thank you!!!!!! This helped so much
What size Allen wrench? I thought I had the right size but it doesn’t feel snug when I insert it into the screw. What do I do if it’s stripped. The shape of the top of the screw doesn’t look like an Allen wrench would grip. It looks like a circle. Not sure if the previous owners stripped it ? Help!!!
This helped a whole lot !!! Thanks
Hey Ana, glad the video helped.
Thanks for the help, really dumb issue from the manufacturer
Thankyou so so very much 😁...jus wish I did 4 months ago...I need hot!!! I had nothing but wimpy luke warm for minutes then cold.. 😩
Thank you very much now we got hot water in the shower
Hi will this work if the water is to hot and it won't adjust no matter how cool you turn the knob?
Did you turn off the main water supply beforehand? Or can it be done without tuning the main water supply off?
WE HAD HOUSE FLOODED JULY 2023 WE HIRED A PLUMBER NAME JAUN HE DID NESTY JOB ALL AROUND THE HOUSE TOILETS SEATS WERE NOT PROPERLY SCREWED ITS WAS MAKING NOISES WHEN WE SIT OR STAND THE SHOWER DID NOT HAVE HOT WATER IT GET WARMER AFTER TEN MINUTES BUT NEVER HAD A HOT SHOWER! BUT AFTER WATCHING THIS VIDEO I FIX IT IN ONE MINUTE ONLY I WANT TO THANK YOU FOR YOUR KINDNESS AND SUPPORT TO PUTTING THE VIDEO TOGETHER GOD BLESSINGS DEAR THANKS 🙏
Helpful video !!! I would correct terminology though. The "threads" are actually called splines.
💯 thanks for the correction.
My issue is I’m not getting any cold water. Can follow these steps but go counter clockwise?
Very helpful thanks ‼️
what would be the issue if my water gets scolding hot or just cold and doesn’t mix to be warm?
Saved me a nice buck you dope 👌.
I think you just called me a dope 😂
Fixed my hot water thank you 😊
Hi could you help with my question, why does the temperature in our water change when showering? For example, say someone is in the kitchen and they decide to wash their hands while someone is showering the temperature in the shower will turn either too hot or too cold, Why is that?
Hi Tiffany, it would be my guess that your shower water lines branch off of your kitchen water lines. So when someone runs the kitchen faucet or dishwasher (runs on kitchen faucet water source) then the hot and cold water running to your shower is impacted without you changing the position of the valve in the shower. This is not an uncommon problem and to fix it would take a bit of plumbing work. All the best!
Thank you for your response . So what do I have to do to avoid this? How do I know which tubes will need to be removed and placed differently?
You are probably never going to see this but if you are trying to do a close up of an item in your hand, you can place it in your palm and have your hand take up most of the screen space and the camera should then auto focus better for you.
I just mention this for when you were trying to show the numbers on the limiter plate. This trick isn't 100% but it is an option to help getting the shot.
Thank you. Worked great!
Here to help 👍
For the life of me I can't get the allen wrench into the socket. Any suggestions?
I watched this so many times and didn’t see him rotate at all and what was that adapter? Thanks for video however hoping this fixes the issue
