When Eleven is in the black place, that is not the upside down. She is in the sensory deprivation tank so that she can tune out everything and psychically connect to people far away.

Like you, I remember being so surprised by my change of sentiment towards Hopper from the first introduction scene to honestly not that far in, haha! David Harbour has become one of my favorite actors of the day 😊

One of the things I like about the show is the magnificent performance of Winona Ryder. The moment she run to her car scared like everyone would, but then she turned into mama bear and charged back in with an axe. In other shows and movies, you get this type of characters, but first of all, it is usually the dad, and second, when it is the mom, is more detective work, investigation, etc, and not as much physically putting herself in danger.
Also, when she breaks down you would think that Winona has lost her actual child. It feels so raw and emotional, instead of "trying to give sad".

The 'Darkness' that El can psychically enter in the sensory deprivation tank is called 'The Void'. It is different from the 'Vale of Shadows' a.k.a. 'The Upside Down' that Nancy enters through the portal here.

Hmmmm....how far/seasons can they take a story about an alternate dimension that intersects with ours? I would say many!

Every time I see the close-up smile at the beginning of your videos, the reflection of whatever is in front of you makes your pupils look like vertical slits, and just for a second, I think you might be part snake.
And that's pretty cool, and I never want it to change.

To answer your question , it hits deeper as a parent. i saw this before we had our boy , and i just see this again with your reaction and it deeeefinetly hits harder as a parent . and i am just a Dad , imagine the feels for a new first time mother. so yeah you would love the series anyway , but as a mother you feel all the feels.

I wonder how many kids (or people in general😂) learned how a compass works from watching Stranger Things😂 THIS is how you teach someone. Make it exciting and explain it simply! Love it!😂

I wish people would stop using the word “Stalker” with Jonathan as a stalker seeks out a person and Jonathan just happened upon the party. Granted, the pictures weren’t the best idea, but they were still harmless, people seem to overlook Steve’s intentions that night, which were to get Nancy drunk and likely have sex, which is way worse.

This is the episode where Nancy becomes the most badass character in the entire show.
Everybody else, think about it, they are all reacting to whatever happens. They're investigating, they're hiding, they're playing defense, they're just trying to rescue somebody, whatever.
But little Nancy Wheeler, who probably weighs like 80 lbs... This girly little 15-year-old high school girl, she decides she's fed up with everyone's bullshit, and that if nobody else is going to save her best friend she's going to fucking do it herself. And if she can't save her best friend, then she's going to fucking hunt down the monster and kill it to get revenge.
How does she plan to do it? With a baseball bat. Then she gets a gun, and it turns out she's a crackshot.
Everybody else is nervous, and Nancy does not give a fuck. She jumps headfirst into a weird hell portal to another nightmare dimension with a monster who may have eaten her best friend, her brother's best friend, and a deer who they just saw it dragged off into the darkness, and who knows what else.
But Nancy does not give a fuck.
All 15 years old and 80 lb, and she's going to take down this monster herself.
That's her plan, and she has no doubt she can pull it off.
Like don't get me wrong, hopper is a badass, but he's also the police chief, and like a trained police officer and he's trained in combat and trained with how to use a gun and he's a big strong dude.
And even then, when he's busting into places, he knows he's just going against ill-prepared humans who aren't ready to deal with them.
    But Nancy.
Nancy probably weighs twice as much if you spray her with a water hose.
She would probably fly away in a strong breeze.
But she's ready to go fight the man-eating murder monster that comes out of the walls.
    Nancy has absolutely insane bravery.
And when they give her her fingerless gloves, the red jacket and the ponytail with the baseball bat and the revolver, that's instantly an iconic horror hero look.
Like you can put her right alongside Ash Williams from the Evil Dead, and she'll fit in perfectly as an iconic horror hero.
    Such an amazing character design.

This would have been a kids show to me. The 70s and 80s were different. I was watching Nazis melt and critters explode in microwaves before I started Elementary school.
