The fact that that's Ben Stiller's wife irl makes their interactions that much more funny.
Time has turned that Lance Armstrong scene into a work of art. It went from being played straight to layered with abstract, dark comedy.
So true! Usually when these kinds of scandals happen it kind of ruins the stuff they've worked on before... i.e. watching House of Cards feels weird now after the Kevin Spacey revelations. But that scene is ten times better now than it was then, can't help but bust out laughing every time.
You’re both the kind of people that naively invest personal feelings in the media. Grow up.
Lance must’ve been a former member of Globo Gym himself. 😉
@@tempsitch5632 and you're the type of person who never learned it's not ok to ridicule people. I might suggest you take your own advice.
He was doping in a competition where 90% of the contestants were as well. Way overblown.
It’s a bold strategy Cotton, let’s see if it pays off for them.
LOL, he was my favorite character in this film... "He will not be able to See very well, Cotton."
Do you believe in unlikelihoods?
I'm shocked!
@@Palavino Pepper needs new shorts
I'm shocked😂
"Nobody makes me bleed my own blood, NOBODY!" ...one of the best movie lines ever😂😂😂
And then the finger click and Mechel immediately shows up like 30 yards away on the scooter
LOL
The guy with the glasses was Milton in Office Space. He was the guy who constantly mumbled to himself and wanted the red stapler.
Fran was played by Missy Pyle, who usually has an odd look, but has been in a LOT of things. She's the main female alien in Galaxy Quest, and the mother of one of the kids in the johnny Depp version of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.
Stephen Root, and the other thing most people might know him from is the blind art dealer in _Get Out._
There’s Something About Mary (1998) may be right up your alley, if you liked this. It’s such a fitting name, too.
Agreed!
This movie came out almost 20 years ago. My wife and I still quote it at each other on a daily basis.
Also, congratulations on the baby!
The lines "if you can dodge a wrench, you can dodge a ball" or "it's a bold strategy cotton" at this point has just joined cultural vocabulary I don't think people realize theyre from this movie
19:46 - You didn't recognize David Hasselhoff?
(Patches) Rip Torn has the best lines! 😂😅
I'm a chef, we randomly say "That's a bold strategy, Cotton" anytime someone does something blatantly stupid.
Oddly, it usually does work out.
"It's so bad, I shouldn't be laughing!" That's exactly _WHEN_ to laugh . . .
The Kate Veatch character is portrayed by Christine Taylor, and she is Ben Stiller's wife
She was i think they have seperated
She's a loser.
@olivegreenpants7153 they were for a little while and are reconciled now
Gordon. Played by Stephen Root. He's in a zillion films. He's a master actor. Super respected. A chameleon. Milton in Office Space, the criminal corporate guy in No Country for Old Men, the radio producer in O Brother Where Art Thou, and the blind man in Get Out. He's in everything and amazing. I'm a super fan of his.
You missed the owner of the radio station in "Newsradio", Mr. James :)
@@exile220ify he's so damn good
Back in the day ( I think 70s or 80s) Ms was introduced as a term equal to Mr. . Before that , Miss meant single woman , Mrs. meant married woman and yet for men it was always Mr., married or single . So Ms. Is what was introduced for women and it can mean married or single .
I've always thought that William Shatner is playing himself and, for whatever reason, Shatner IS the ADAA chancellor. It's not that strange when you consider that Chuck Norris sits on the sport's governing body. If anything, it's even funnier that the American Dodgeball Association of America has a Canadian serving as chancellor.
David Pumpkins Jr is right
If you haven't seen/watched Zoolander, Ben Stillers character is hilarious, with another good performance from his wife who plays a reporter investigating all the male models who are "really really good looking." And that is pretty much their only asset. I think if you liked this one you would like that one.
Vince is in it too but he has no lines. Hes one of Dereks brothers
They made us play dodgeball in Jr. High School back in the early 80s. It was coed with kids of vastly different stages of physical development. I have no idea who ever thought this was a good sport for kids.
We were still playing it in jr. high gym class in the early 2000s. I loved it lol.
@@ragtimeraver Yeah, but we used wrenches and had to play it outdoors in the snow, both ways!
@@norwegianblue2017 😂
8:25 "Squaw" is just the word for a Native American Indian woman. (He's continuing with the metaphor that he began by calling his employees a "tribe.") However, as with many similar words, over the past few decades it has acquired offensive overtones.
Yeah, offensive overtones is putting it mildly. Some equate it to the N word for female Indians. Excuse me, Native Americans. I got a horrified look from the cashier at a deli about ten years ago when I asked for it by name. But, it is literally the Algonkin tribe’s word for “woman.” My great grandmother was Sioux, btw. Anyway. Growing up, Squaw Bread was my favorite. It’s a sweet brown bread, made with molasses, honey, brown sugar, raisins, and butter all liquified together and added to the rye/wheat flour. You can find it in stores now called “sweet brown” bread, or something along those lines.
Best reaction ever, Mary! I particularly lost it when you displayed three distinct facial expressions in about 2 seconds during the pumping action @ 8:02... additionally, you were speechless! LMFAO, and I could not stop! Thank you for that -- it's a been a demanding post-Christmas week and this made everything better.
Mary's gonna start throwing wrenches at her husband to keep him on his toes.
Christine Taylor (lawyer) and Ben Stiller were married in real life....which makes her disgust bring around him even funnier. 😂😂
Up to this day, my friend group sometimes comes up with "Thank you, Chuck Norris!"
Great choice for a reaction Mary. I needed a laugh after the Christmas madness. Of course you're tired, with a baby in your home. I'm speaking from personal experience, that they often require so much of your time in the early years, even though we love them dearly. I hope you can continue to find the time and the energy to create such enjoyable content.
Gordon is portrayed by Stephen Root, a fairly successful actor who has a long resume of both live-action and voiceover roles. I suspect you're remembering him from his stint as Milton, the muttering, perennially mistreated employee turned arsonist in the film Office Space (which you uploaded here 6 months ago).
Very successful actor he was in alot of films like Ghost, TV series like Eerie Indiana, Newsradio.
28:00 funnily enough, the original ending of this film had Dwight winning the game in regulation. The ending tested bad in screening so the film company required them to rewrite it so that the Joe's would win. A subtle nod to that decision can be found in the scene where Peter receives his betting earnings, the chest containing the cash has the phrase "Deus ex Machina" to point out the forced ending the movie had to make.
As well as the end credits scene where he openly mocks the audience for it and does his milkshake dance
"So glad I dont have a weiner watching this movie" That killed me 😂😂😂😂. You are so funny
Another fun little goofy comedy (if you need another one) is "Grandma's Boy" (2006), which also stars the guy that fell in live with Fran. Or, if you want to reach a bit further in time to 1998, I would suggest "Wrongfully Accused" with Leslie Nielsen.
Second vote for Grandma’s Boy.
There's Something About Mary (1998) is the obvious movie to watch Mary.
Absolutely must see for Mary.
There's Something about Movies with Mary! Lol
I've recommended this a few times and people reply telling her not to watch it because it's disgusting. Hope you have better luck.
"If you can dodge a wrench, you can dodge a ball." Truer words were never spoken.
If you want more sports comedies a good choice would be Major League.
Loved this reaction! Comedy films I recommend: Old School, Wedding Crashers, 40 Year Old Virgin, Forgetting Sarah Marshall, I Love You Man! You will see that in the US, there was a certain period where the same groups of people were making and acting in a bunch of the best comedy films. It was the modern golden age of comedy 🎭 😂 🙌🏾!
Was not expecting this movie on your channel. One of my favourite comedies ever.
Nice! Straight from ESPN 8, the Ocho!
This is such a great movie to watch for laughs, the whole cast are great! It is one of the best comedies of all time!
If you want a similarly amusing movie, while having a plot, I'd recommend "The Other Guys". Its very funny and amusing, and definetly not what anyone would exoect.
I just noticed that the chest was labeled “Deus Ex Machina.” I love how self-aware the writers are.
The Beaver Tranquilizer gets me every time
How long does it take you to wake up? (sorry, had to)
@@beardedgeek973 it’s the only way I can sleep now about 16 hours
Chuck Norris approves of Mary watching this movie!
I think Jason Bateman's delivery is my favourite thing about this movie... "Usually you have to pay extra for that, Cotton!"
Miss is the word to describe unmarried, widowed, and single females.
Mrs is an abbreviation for the word Mistress. Which is used for Married women. It is the feminine version for Mr (Mister/Master). These are old English words that dates WAY back. It was in the olden times where there was the "Master" of the house and his wife the "Mistress" of the house. Which means they was in charge of the whole household.
The word "Squaw" is a word to describe women of thr Northern American Native American Indians. It was often used as a demeaning slanderous slur to describe the Native Indian woman.
Eurotrip is a great comedy I'd recommend that's not really talked about when early 2000's comedies are mentioned. Also, I believe it was a sound bite on TikTok and it just hurts that knowing that a lot of people don't know where it's from.
"I've got shareholders, you haven't even got...cupholders!"
I’ve seen this movie at least a dozen times, but I never noticed that Justin’s cheerleader girlfriend is pregnant in the ending commercial. Nice catch.
Looking fun movie.... great cast + good music + silly jokes = Hudson Hawk (1991)
dodgeball is such crazy fun movie
patches o'hoolahan's offensive directness is hilarious
u shud watch a movie called "cool runnings" it's a classic feel good comedy and based off a true story. perfect for winter as well since it's based around the winter Olympics
Cool Runnings is a great comedy with a ton of heart. Always shed a tear at the end.
Mary, a cute adventure-love story you may enjoy is 2007's "Stardust"
The key to the success of this movie is that, despite its "happy ending," it remained true to itself throughout.
I prefer the original ending for sure though.
Fran Stalinovskovichdaviddivichski is played by Missi Pyle, who was also Laliari (the Thermian who stayed with Fred Kwan on Earth) in Galaxyquest
Missi Pyle is very pretty. Speaks to who she is that she would let them do that kind of hair and make up for her character and have a blast doing it. She's a great comedic actor.
9:06 the funny thing about the scene as between White and the lawyer is that they are married in real life. Especially this part 17:35 when she gets to slam him into the wall. 25:11 also along with some pharmaceutical help.
Oh you’ve seen Gordon. The actor who plays Gordon, Stephen Root, plays many rolls but he has surprising range, from being an eccentric business mogul back in his News Radio days to his more recent roll as a deep black ops mover in Barry. But he is always rather comically jovial.
Missing out on singing looking for freeedom when David Hasselhoff was on screen😭. Also great german pronunciation on your side👍.
“Or he might be a real one (pirate).” Way to not close your mind off to the possibilities!
If no one has explained, "squaw" refers to a native American female, when White is talking about her joining his "tribe", making the native American reference.
Do "Wedding crashers". Vince Vaughn, Owen Wilson, a great decidedly offensive premise 😀and HEAPS of great supporting actors: Rachael McAdams, Isla Fisher, Christopher Walken, Jane Seymour, Bradley Cooper and Will Ferrell.
As a parent, you should definitely check out the Ron Howard directed comedy: Parenthood.
Some other Vince Vaughn movies to watch:
Swingers
Wedding Crashers
The Break-Up
Ben Stiller movies:
Zoolander
Meet the Parents and Meet the Fockers
You've already watched Tropic Thunder
You should watch Heavyweights (1995) now, I love reading online how people think Ben Stiller's character from this is the same person in Heavyweights. Dodgeball 2 might confirm this theory.
Ben Stiller is awesome in this movie, and the commentators of the "Ocho" are hilarious! If you liked Dodgeball, I would highly recommend Game Night and also Walk of Shame.
Based on a true story. 😂
The story of Steve the pirate
@@andreshernandez1180 Gar!!!
Squaw is a derogatory term for native American women, he made a comment about being a close knit tribe so it was in relation to that. Just a way to show that even when he tries to say something good, white Goodman is still saying something nasty and racist lol
Best recommendations for Comedys with some members of this cast would be Old School and Swingers for movies and Arrested Development for a comedy TV show. Arrested Development is the most underrated comedy show ever.
The man in the wheelchair is the late Rip Torn. You see him in the Men In Black movie and Down Periscope. I think that you would enjoy watching Down Periscope. A very funny movie.
Eh, a house full of unicorns is not worse than a house full of Warhammer figurines. Just a different kind of nerd, basically.
Sqaw mean woman in the Algonquin language family. Algonquin speaking Indians lived in the Northeast of the United states and where among some of the first Native Americans that the European settlers encountered. Because of this many Algonquin words entered US English as loan words or even as slang. In fact Algonquin contributed more loan words to English than any other family of native American languages.
Sqaw came to be a slang term for wife in American English
Other word borrowed from Algonquin Include Tomahawk (a type of Axe), Moccasin(for soft foot coverings), pecan, hickory, squash (all foods). And many more.
The north eastern part of the US has a very interesting linguistic history as later immigrants from places like Italy, the Caribbean and Eastern Eiurppe(particularly Yiddish speaking jews) also brought words into the local lexicon
The female player for Globo Gym is played by Missy Pyle. She was in Galaxy Quest.
What I always think is funny about this movie Ben Stiller (White Goodman) is married to Christine Taylor (Kate Veatch) and has been for years.
Great reaction Mary 🙂👍
White (Ben Stiller) and Kate (Christine Taylor) are married IRL
I bet they had a blast doing this crazy film 😂😂😂
Fun fact the dodgeball announcer pepper brooks is jason bateman and also voiced nick wilde the fox from zootopia
You Kill Me... amazingly dark comedy with a crime element
8:29 It's a slur against indigenous North Americans, specifically women. It originally meant woman in some of the indigenous languages of a particular region, but colonials began using it to refer to any/all indigenous women, and by the late 1800s/early 1900s it had picked up sexual connotations and implications. While indigenous people have been pushing back against the use of the term for some time now, it's only begun to be removed from government language and place names in the US in the last couple of years or so.
FYI Mary
Miss - unmarried
Mrs. - married
Ms. - unknown or none of your business
Another fun fact, Ben stiller (white Goodman) and Christine Taylor (Kate veatch) are married irl!
Mary I had a ball watching your reaction. Ahhh meee 😀
Hi Mary. Happy New Year. Two Very Funny movies I can recommend to you are "A Fish Called Wanda" & "Fierce Creatures". Both movies have the same cast and Kevin Kline got his Oscar from the first movie.
In honour of Tom Wilkinson's passing I'll suggest Chain of Fools as a comedy. It's not well known, but it's solid
I love the sound of a dodgeball... sproyoinggg.
Office Space! "I could put stricknine in the guacamole" ring a bell
Cool reaction as always Mary, you have a nice day and a Happy New Year sweetie 🥰❤️
Mary, ek geniet jou reaksies baie!! Gelukkige Nuwe Jaar vir jou en jou familie!!
27:13 In the original ending, Average Joe's loses. End of movie.
The ending we get is because test audiences didn't like it, so they had to shoot a "happy" ending. Ben Stiller, as a fat White Goodman, basically says as much in the credits scene.
I actually had my arm broken in a high school dodgeball game once.
Watching Dodgeball with you is my favorite 😊
"Nobody makes me bleed my own blood"
the guy your trying to place played the weird guy "Milton" from office space. hes the one with the red stapler that set building on fire
*Stephen Root,* he was on *News Radio* (1995-1999) and in a few episodes of *The Big Bang Theory,* he also had a small part in *Ghost* (1990) and has voiced several animated characters.
A true underdog story!
No. I would not be bothered if I entered a woman's house and she had some sort of collection. That just means she won't be bothered by my Star Trek ship collection.
We played dodgeball in grade school, I was bad at it. I don't think schools play it anymore. The ball isn't really that hard, it's softer than a basketball or volleyball.
Yeah, it wasn’t hard or solid, but it had a nice sting to it on bare skin. We also used them for handball against a wall.
And now welcome to saying "if you can dodge a wrench you can dodge a ball" at moments for the rest of your life
Mary, we used to play Dodgeball at school in The Netherlands. Called 'trefbal'. I'm surprised you didn't.
Not my style, caught it as a in-flight movie at the time. Absolutely loved it. However I'm in the uk and couldnt believe it was an actual sport at the time.
I just subbed after binge watching 201 of your viceos. does commenting on older videos help with the algorithm for you?
Reasons i subbed: Your natrual reactions. Your accent (it's so unique, even to a brit). Your humour is spot on! and your editors do a great job as well! I don't bother with other reactors. Keep up the good work.
Your Game of thrones series was amazing! being some one that watched it as it was released.
the guy with the glasses is stephen root he was in office space as milton
Good for you Ms. Mary 😊 you deserve a nice laugh. YOU should watch "Coming to America" 😂 it's hilarious 😂
Smiling in anticipation of you enjoying this silly, funny movie.
20:01 - No they weren't a Dodgeball team. It was the BDSM group wearing the Average Joes uniforms that were accidentally sent to them. They were there to exchange the uniforms for their BDSM gear
He said "Where is the library, Pablo" i.e. Peter.
You would love "The Wedding Crashers" also with Vince Vaughn.
23:48 Fran is played by Missi Pyle (who looks nothing like her). Missi was in a bunch of movies and TV shows.
Big Fish. She’s smokin’ in that one.
Not sure if you've ever watch Barry, but Gordon who you recognized is Fuches.
A '"squaw" is a female. The Europeans who came to America came up with that gem when they referred to female Native Americans.
Cheerleading is actually a really intensive thing, equal to any high-impact sport
But due to lobbying by a cheerleading supplies company, it's not legally classified as a sport, meaning that it's not held to the same stringent health and safety rules.
Which means that, when cheerleaders inevitably get injured due to lax safety at competitions, they can't sue for compensation.
It's actually very horrible.
Is this a bit ? Is this cut dialogue from this movie ?
Lol cheerleaders are taking hits just as regularly football players. 🙄
Also, the hockey cheerleaders lose their teeth just as often as the hockey players? You’re just saying words to say them.
Dodge Ball is a very funny movie, but I prefer kinder and gentler comedies " Arsenic and Old Lace"1944
Fun fact: Christine Taylor is Ben Stillers wife IRL :-)
Must have been so funny to play that you hate your own husband :)
