. That is the plan for my 07 Lexus es350 only running a separate Skar 350 amp & a 6.5" Scar sub leaving the armrest down for direct music. Did the to my to my old Mazda 626.
Man this video is still helping me out nearly 4 years after you made it. Ordering all the stuff right now, but I have a question. What guage wiring did you use? Idk if you’d still remember but if you do, that would be a great help. Factory shitty ML has been blown since I bought the car
although its an open air sub, it would dfinately tighten your lows a bit if you close up the hole from the old sub with a piece of even 1/4" mdf. to separate the 2 air volumes (cabin and trink)
Wait…you put this on the ML amp without having to replace it with an aftermarket amp????if so good job. Is it still going,it didn’t burn out your ML amp?
I appreciate this video! I did exactly what you did, but lowered the subwoofer down. Works amazing and sounds sooooo much better now that I have bass lol. I am hitting the steel bracket up top though, I'm going to have to wedge something between the speaker and the steel bracket, an 1/8 inch at most
I replaced mine with a shallow mount in stock location. People need to be advised that close to 100% of aftermarket subs will pull too much power and the stock amp will not be able to handle it, leading to the music cutting out for a few seconds. I am currently trying to figure out how to remedy this issue (Not a sound system person) so I can still have decent bass but it won’t pull too much power while still keeping the stock amp which I believe is 80 watts.
How did that work for you? I have an 8" JBL sub that's 4.5 inches tall, and I dont think it's possible mounting it upside down. Do you think I can put maybe a 1" spacer or more and mount it right side up and make it work?
Even if the sub is mounted with the magnet inside the trunk rather than the woofer cone? I know 4.5 inches is too big, but I wanted to see if it will fit the other way around.
Jeff Sales it’ll still be too big. It’s a really tight fit underneath the rear deck lid. I hollowed our the oem blown sub and mounted the new shallow mount inside of it so I can keep the oem mounting points. Anything bigger is gonna have to be mounted somewhere else.
Hi there so I got a Is250 06 so basically if I buy this sub I can swop it out and there will be no problems ? And it will run on the OEM amp ? Do you have a video of the sub playing something can't find on your channel
You can use the OEM amp no problem. A video of it would be pointless you would never be able to hear the sound quality. Its absolutely worth the time and money though
What did you end up doing. As for my one we tapped into the ml sub connectors at the mount. And added RCA wire to the connecting points. Everything should be fine only issue is sub is very quite not sure if it's the enclosure or not enough power
What exactly made it not fit in the stock location? I just ordered this unit due to this video. Really hoping I can figure out how to mount it in the stock location. I am willing to modify the liner underneath in the trunk if i have to. Please let me know.
@@therealboofighter No the stock one was blown, thats why I did this. And no way was I going to spend a few hundred dollars on replacing the OEM unit. So of course I had to do a PMM upgrade
@@PoorManMods same as mine , I’m thinking bout doing the same but with a Memphis mojo 8”, oh but keeping the factory rear deck sun and running a hi to low converter on the deck sub leads
Great video for anyone with the ML system! Unfortunately I have the pioneer system, so I think the sub is smaller and less power, and prefer the sound of a 12" sub! I know that doesnt work for everyone cuz the IS models are limited on space as well
My sub isn't blown but I've always wished it had a little more punch. I'd love to hear this in person some time and I am definitely considering doing this mod.
Followed the vid step by step (cut the wood wrong but shush) and the new woofer sounds way better. Preciate you making this video
heck yeah glad it worked out for you!

Yeah please let me know aswell I don't wanna buy a new amp too
That's nice and all. But im not doing all that for a little sound. I'm putting in a 12 or 2 12's and a monoblock and voice amp.
I appreciate this video! I did exactly what you did, but lowered the subwoofer down. Works amazing and sounds sooooo much better now that I have bass lol. i saw a video where this guy just cut the steel bracket off
What type of wiring did you use?
16 gauge wire
Do you still have the original subwoofer I need one can't find it I want it all stock if you would wana sell it I'm located in Banning California
No, mine went bad that's why I made this video
@@PoorManMods I happened to get lucky I found one at the pick a part thank you anyways
Where not going to hear how it sounds??
No sound test ? Wack… great idea though Ima do it
Sound tests are pointless lol but thanks
@@PoorManModsdoes it rattle anything ?
The exact steps I need to disconnect my blown ML sorry sub. Nice work and great job on the relocation!
Thank you!
Redoe it. That would look AMAZING centered!!!!
Maybe one day
can i add the subwoofer as an extra?
I'm not sure you'd need another amp or not
any issues with the speaker tapping the seats
Nope
Can we get a sound clip please!
A sound clip could never do it justice
Do you always have to put the arm rest down?
It can stay up but you loose the bass
Awesome

Jeff Sales the shallow mount sub fits fine in stock location. 8” is too much and 4.5” tall won’t fit at all no matter which way you put it.
Even if the sub is mounted with the magnet inside the trunk rather than the woofer cone? I know 4.5 inches is too big, but I wanted to see if it will fit the other way around.

Should have done a sound clip. Those open air setups are cool. Or infinite baffle
No point, it would never sound good on your end, but i promise it sounds good
Yeah that’s true! Good stuff though!
There was 4 colored wires that was wired to the OEM sub, did you tap in to all 4 or did you just use 2?
Mine only had 2
What did you end up doing. As for my one we tapped into the ml sub connectors at the mount. And added RCA wire to the connecting points. Everything should be fine only issue is sub is very quite not sure if it's the enclosure or not enough power
When you cut off the connector for the sub, was it just 2 wires?
Yup just 2 wires
Question will it hit the back of your seat when the bass hits because the sub is going to move forward no
Nope
How is this sub holding up. I just ordered one because it went on clearance for 30% off!
Its still great!
Hi, is this only for the ones with the Mark Levinson system? Because I have the system, which is very good but needs more boom
Yes
Polk Audio is good stuff man, I had a component kit installed in my accord in 2003 and it's still kicking great
I love this type uh shid
Lolol
Hi, the sub shows as a 4 ohm on Amazon, and the MarkLevinson Amp is 8 ohms, according to Club Lexus forums and such. Any issues here?
Ive had no issues with the sub i installed and linked to in this video
My sub is blown on my IS350 and the head unit digitizer doesn’t work. Thanks for the video. What did it sound like?
Pretty clean!!! Car is coming along :) keep on going
Thanks!
In that same location do you think a 10 Inch would fit?
I don't think it would
That’s pretty cool!!
When you saying you will replace the old mounting bracket for new woofer it was successful?
I want try put in the same place. :D
It wasnt successfull thats why i put it in the passthrough
Awesome!
What exactly made it not fit in the stock location? I just ordered this unit due to this video. Really hoping I can figure out how to mount it in the stock location. I am willing to modify the liner underneath in the trunk if i have to. Please let me know.
It was too tall and there was no proper way to mount it that was easy or reasonable.
Poor Man Mods too tall as in upward towards the deck or downward into the trunk?
How does it sound with the arm rest up? Also does it hit the trim at the top when playing bass heavy music?
It gets significantly quieter with the arm rest up, i of course leave it down. As far as i can tell it doesnt hit anything
When you found that the sub would not fit in the original location did you think about leaving the stock one in as well, for extra bass?
@@therealboofighter No the stock one was blown, thats why I did this. And no way was I going to spend a few hundred dollars on replacing the OEM unit. So of course I had to do a PMM upgrade
Poor Man Mods I must have missed that. Sorry.
It does look good, like a factory option.

this is for all years ISF but mine is a 2008

Nice, I might look into this for my IS350. Does the ML amp have any issues running it? Is it the same impedance as the factory sub?
Thanks! The sub i used which is the one i linked to in the description runs perfectly off the oem amp and is the same impedance
@@PoorManMods Awesome. Thanks heaps. I'll start looking into getting a replacement for mine.
@@crampynz youre welcome! If you purchase the subwoofer through my link it does help out my channel if you decide to go with that sub

I helped with that😂
Yasssss

It sounds so much better, well worth the $80 sub and the time and few dollars it takes to make the mount for it
Do you wanna sell your oem woofer?
Its blown
great job man, i love you and jesus loves you too! so handsome and muscular man
