Thank you for finally pointing out the actual connectors rather than all the forums stating "Hook up to green and brown wires"... There are fifteen green wires lol! Hooked up Kicker Hs10 with speaker sense and works fine... IS350, Navi, Non ML.
Not wrong. Full wiring diagram for 2009/2010 ML system is here, but appears to be likely same for Non ML as well: www.clublexus.com/forums/is-f-2008-2014/942642-2010-mark-levinson-wiring-pin-outs-for-line-out-converter.html
absolutely beautiful, man. I really appreciate seeing "entry level" equipment getting proper love and people install. Seems like every kid nowadays needs the hugest, most inefficient drivers, etc This is really cool and looks like it sounds great
Just installed my sub and couldn't have been any easier thanks to your video. Running a single 10 inch Skar DS2 with their 800 watt amp and custom box. It hits super hard!!! Probably spent around 300 or less! Super happy to be bumpin again. I come from the photobucket supported forum days and with most pictures removed from all the once helpful threads, your video was a huge help with my IS.
Currently building my is250 build but I got a android Tesla head unit has rca putting in 5 channel recoil amp already have sky high 6.5 and super tweeters in the 2.75 spot running new speaker wire with 2 - 10’s seismic audio custom box will see how it turns out, 1/0 gauge ofc too
Excellent video young man. You know what you're doing. You remind me of what I was doing in the 80's car hifi wise. Excellent of you to actually do a sub install on the 2nd gen is250 and especially letting us know which wires do what. Good onya m8 👍👍👍
hey @sydsnott5042 what is your opinion if i may ask about a sedan build with no folding seats that has the frame of the vehicle goin into the back seat and trunk? is it still worth having aftermarket subs back there. i do have a “ski hole” like the one in this video.
BRO!!!!! This video is everything I need and more. I have the same car and I have been itching to add some more bass. The way you looped the RCA's in was gravy!! Also, that other set up in the Hummer is fucken nuts man great stuff!! #BringBackBass
Love that flush mount box ! I myself have the Rp1500.1 with 2 D4 12s in the skar encloser tuned at 32hz. I have the subs facing the back seat with them down it definitely gets windy! I also have an alpine for the highs fsx65s in the doors 4 VX35 tweeters , m69c massive audio in the back deck plus sound deadener in the trunk lid, quarter panel & doors great but cheap stuff! Sound quality isn't in the price!
Christopher Vtec awesome man! Sounds like you got a nice setup there. I probably would have fired my subs into the cabin, but my rear seats don’t fold down. I’m happy with it tho. Thanks for watching!
i have the same exact car and i just wanted to get a better Audio sound for a Good budget ! Man i just stumbled on to your video this is exactly what i needed !! Much thankss
Kyran Liburd awesome! Only thing I really did not show was running the power wire from front to rear. That’s pretty simple but right in some spots. Ground wire can attach anywhere in trunk area that you can sand down to bare metal. Have fun with your project!
a very helpful video. Thanks! Wondering why you even need to connect the remote turn-on cable; the mono amp supposed to turn on when it detects a signal from the factory speaker wires and automatically turn off when there is no more signal (i.e. when the head unit is shut down)
Just wanted to come back and let you know. Aftermarket headunit installs on the Lexus was much more difficult than I would have liked. You got to gut the main board out of the stock head unit, build a case for it, plug it all back in and tuck it away. Install your new headunit where the old cd player was, I then ran 4 channels of RCA wires and 1 speaker level to the back where the stock amp was. Removed the stock amp completely, mad mounting brackets for a small 5 channel amp, wired up the door speakers in front and rear, Didn't use the center speaker(never liked it) or the stock sub. Installed 2 10 inch subwoofers in the trunk. So pretty much I am using none of the stock audio wires but had to gut the headunit so I could keep the hvac working otherwise without the factory headunit plugged in I didn't have mpg, fan, heat,ac. If I had to do it all over again I honestly don't think I would. I would likely just do it the way you did. I still need to 3d print some trim to make the install look finished. I would rather do aftermarket audio install in my infiniti 10 times over before doing it in the Lexus again
Sounds hella good i do think you shoulda have removed the top deck factory sub so when the arm rest is closed it acts as a port from the trunk and gives a lil deeper bass
Do I have to unplug the factory sub or can I just leave it in and have both the stock sub and aftermarket sub? Also, I wanted to add another amp for mids and highs, or can I just wire then to the original speakers.
Great video Bro! So was the factory sub not being used anymore from seeing your wiring? Is that not an option to keep it and still pull a signal from it? Also, I noticed the polarity was reversed when you verified your remote signal…that ended up being all good?
Sorry man, your message was in spam so i am answering it delayed. You can find the box on ebay for like $150-200. very well made!!!! and i usually HATE prefab boxes. But fits like a glove
Nice build🔥🔥👌🏻👌🏻 but it would sound much better if you have the subs 2-3 inches away from the trunk . My friend has the same subs in a Honda Civic with a ported enclosure and his hits hard
xDDTG {911X}ツ I totally agree.... but the purpose of this car is a grocery getter for the wife. So need the trunk space. Give it time, and eventually I’ll be slipping in the 15” nightshades. Need to get her eased in first with some starter bass :P
I have an 09 is 250 and I have everything wired the way you showed in the video, cut wires to crimp on the high/low converter and connected all the right wires. Only difference is that I wired my remote through a switch and then to my cigarette lighter for power to have to option to shut off the aftermarket amp and sub. When the sub/amp is turned off, everything is normal with the sound system, but like 5-10 seconds after the amp powers on I lose audio from all speakers in the car. When I turn the amp back off I get sound from the other speakers again after Bluetooth reconnects from my FM transmitter. Was wondering if you had any idea as to what could be causing this. I did also tape off the wires going to the factory sub separately so nothing would short out. Everything checks out with multimeter except I don’t seem to be getting signal coming through the LOC to go to the amp. Not sure as to why. Thanks for reading
I want to bypass my stock amp and connect my door speakers to a new amp, but have no idea where to start or how to do it ( on a budget ) lol Also in the amp in the rear do you know where i could find a color code diagram for the speakers ? Thanks and great video ! Very helpful 👌🏽
Pull the door speakers to verify wire colors, then match them up back at the factory amp. Use 9v battery test to ensure you got the right wires and polarity. Done
Great video! I just ran across this while looking to upgrade the sub in my own IS. Question, who made the box? It looks to be about 2 cubic ' internal? Thanks in advance!
thank you so much for this video, you're going to save me a lot of time. i have 1 question tho PLEASE, do i have to do the steps in 2:40? cant i just do what you did in 4:38 and skip the whole removing seats?
Thank you very much for this video! I know I'm a year late, but I was thinking about running 2 sundown E 15s, a wavtech LOC, and a trauma audio 1000D. Do you think that is overkill for a lexus ls460 L ??? Thank you.
Hello Sir, I have a 2009 Lexus ES350, but I’m not sure which wire harness I need to use from the Factory Amplifier located in the trunk right side. I’m trying to connect a “Line Output Converter Adjustable Amplifier”. Thank you.
What information can you provide in replacing the head unit to something more modern since it controls HVAC? I’ve seen some custom installs that have a second unit underneath, replacing ONLY the CD player.
So your only power wire going to 800rms amp is that tiny white wire?????? I have a 2014 es350 ML....i want to install my jls. I like the idea of using the white wire for the remote wire, and also tapping into the factory amp for the loc.
No sir.... I did not show the power/ground wire install. Sorry! I have a fused 0awg power wire and 0awg ground wire running to the amp. at 9:05 min into the video you can see the blue and red power ground wires ran into the amp.
You can, but need to figure out what wires are the speaker inputs going into the amp. And utilize those. Unfortunately, that information I do not know :/ sorry
I wish i knew for sure man. I have never worked on the F. If the harness/ wire colors match i would say yes. If they are different in any way, i would do so me more research to make sure you tap into the right wires :)
Because I am no longer running my stock sub, with no intent to ever hook it back up. So don’t want to send signal to amp if not necessary. You can totally splice in if you want to run your stock sub with your new setup
Hell yeah man I appreciate this video so much! I was wondering why you didn’t tap into the wires to keep the stock sub also plugged in? I’m trying it that way but it’s proving to be a pain in the ass
I did it that way because I ended up removing the stock sub to create a nice size open passage to the trunk which did make the bass louder and less muffled sounding.
@@NextLevelCarAudio hey i just got my 09 is250 about a month ago, and just came across your video/channel and am in the middle of my own amp/sub installation. Im going to be tapping into the sub wires as well. but i was wondering if i like t-tap style into them but instead of t-taping, actually solder the wires and still have my stock sub work as well as my after markets? id like to keep the stock hooked up, in case i choose to sell the car.. or just want to have my aftermarkets off for a quiet ride... Also where did you run your power wire through the firewall? in the stock grommet behind the battery?? thats where i fished mine through anyways thanks in advanced!!! P.S love the video and great build...looking at getting a box like yours but im up here in Canada and having a hard time finding one and the ones from the states are as much as the box for shipping!
@F-b Owen did you you end up getting tapped to the stock sub wires and still having both your aftermarket and stock sub working???? i have a 09 is250 and as we speak at this step ha!
Might want to check eBay for a prefab made for your vehicle specific. I’d not, having a builder do a custom enclosure to contour the trunk would be best
You could have left it.... but with the two 12’s in the truck it completely washes out the factory sub and don’t even hear it. I also tried leaving it, and bass was a tad louder with it removed. Like a passage for the bass so to speak. Armrest is blocked off by the enclosure, so opening and closing that does nothing.
Hey man where do I get the speakers and box. I have ah Lexus IS 250 2008. I want my system like your. Can you tell me everything to get. Please answer me. Thank u for your time
Speakers and amp from down4sound.com free shipping and no tax. Best prices. The sub enclosure I got from eBay. Just search Lexus is250 subwoofer enclosure. You’ll see them. And finally the LOC to convert your speaker wires into an amp RCA signal. Search LOC on amazon and buy any one you prefer. They are cheap. Then obviously you need an amp wiring kit. You can also find them @ down4sound.com if you want quality. Be careful of the cheap ones on amazon/eBay. I never skimp on my electrical/wiring. Hope that helped.
I have a question bro i just saw this video😁 so i got my subs put in, i went to my audio shop and he didnt disconnect the factory subwoofer i guess he just tap into the factory amp, is there any way that i can disconnect that by not taking off the whole back seat? Like popped the panel/ cover of the stock sub? Thank you
Once the wires are tapped in, do you reconnect them into the factory amplifier or are they left unplugged? Apologies if that is a dumb question. Thanks in advance!
DankMatter yes, I did not show in video, but you would need to run a fused power wire from battery to the trunk. Then a ground wire to amp which you can tap from somewhere in trunk area
@@NextLevelCarAudio so what would be the best way to have both going? Would running the output device to same wires shown in the video and also connecting the sub wires (in the correct color order of course) cause any issues “output” wise?
No issues at all. Just leave everything connected from the factory as is. Then tap in the Line output converter to the appropriate wires and your good to go. 😎
@@NextLevelCarAudio sorry if this is a stupid question but how do you mean “tap in”? Dont you have to cut/take out the stock sub wires from the amp in order to connect to output converter
No sir.... just strip the insulation off the wiring of the harness going into the amp, don’t actually cut it, then connect your line output converter to those wires and button everything back up. You are set
Sorry man, that I dint know. I have always tapped from the speaker. Amplified or not. If you have a LOC with adjustable gain like the one in used it is not an issue as you can gain match it to the amps signal voltage. But it you do find out, let me know
Any recommendations on replacing all 13 speakers on the 06 is250? Thinking about replacing all of them with something better, also what amp would you recommend for them?
If you are going to tap into those wires for the signal, i definitely would. At the least, you can cut the OEM subwoofer wires at the amp. That way you don't have to pull the seat off to disconnect the plug.
What year of Lexus IS is this?? I have a 2012 and I’m bout to do a install myself, have the LC2i converter and wanted to know if my stock amp set would be the same as yours, I’m also local and Washington based would love to pick your brain on the set up!!
If you like low and deep bass. Go for the 15! Or a 12. But no smaller unless all you want is punchy type bass. Biggest thing is to get a custom enclosure. If you can’t find one get one made. Makes all the difference.
How did you remove the little door behind the sub box that gives access to the middle seat, do I have to remove the seat to take that off or can I unbolt it from the trunk?
Sorry man, your message was in spam so i am answering it delayed. How is your power and ground? if you got a loose ground that could be the problem. also, if your car does not have factory navigation or if it has the upgraded "premium" factory stereo option, this wire may not work. let me know if you get this figured out. thanks!
Hi Lexus lovers, I'm having this issue "no sound from the stereo" I just replaced the nav and radio also check the amp and is good, but still no sound from the stereo. No fusse problems either. I just realized that the radio has no power what could it be the problem??
Yes, after i spliced into everything, i then plugged the harnesses back in. the bass knob was JB welded in place. So it aint coming out/ moving. If i ever need to uninstall/ put back to normal i will just need to buy another trim piece and take out the modified one.
yes sir that is correct. I did end up completely removing the OEM subwoofer tho as it created a "passage" for the bass to come into the cabin a little better. i tried both with the OEM sub in and out... Out was a bit louder and less muffled sounding
How much room is left behind the box for the amp? I was thinking of mounting my hifonics amp to the box so the logo would shine through the pass through when down.
Absolutely, there are people that do that with no issues.... only reason i removed rear sub is to create a passage between the cabin and trunk to hear the bass a little more.
NextLevelHummer so when I did it today I wasn’t getting any bass from my sub I did every wire you said so what you think could be the problem??. The amp is getting power and everything the line input is so so idk
hey man, sorry to hear that. i don't believe there is any differences between the 08 and 11 as far as the stereo is concerned. but don't mark my words on that. could very well be the LOC, if there are gains on the LOC unit, make sure they are all the way up. Then use the gain on the actual amp to dial it in properly. the only other thing is your amp is just not getting any input signal. which means the incorrect speaker wires were tapped into. which may be slightly different from year to year. best thing to do to eliminate that possibility would be to verify the wires/colors from the oem rear sub/speaker to ensure you are tapping into the right ones for your vehicle. let me know if any of that helps. good luck
Thank you for finally pointing out the actual connectors rather than all the forums stating "Hook up to green and brown wires"... There are fifteen green wires lol! Hooked up Kicker Hs10 with speaker sense and works fine... IS350, Navi, Non ML.
Thanks for the feedback

@NextLevelCarAudio hey, so where did you run the wire from the battery?
Dude, running a remote wire and the LOC from the factory amp is genius! Saves so much time! Thanks man!
Glad it helped! Thanks
NextLevelHummer whats your cell

You can buy an LOC that comes with a blue wire for remote power.
Def genius

you need to do a video but about the regular speakers... how to change oem amp to aftermarket with same cable harness
Man that’s what I’m saying
My amp OEM amp got flooded in the back. Trying to figure out how to just bypass the OEM amp
Currently building my is250 build but I got a android Tesla head unit has rca putting in 5 channel recoil amp already have sky high 6.5 and super tweeters in the 2.75 spot running new speaker wire with 2 - 10’s seismic audio custom box will see how it turns out, 1/0 gauge ofc too
Great video for learning . Sent to my son so he could understand his install better
Bro that young jeezy album was meant to be heard with a nice car system installed in the whip. Good choice for the demo track lol
Thank you for this video. This method works for the Non-Navi system is250s as well.

Quick question bro, are you able to control the bass through the touchscreen as you normally would with the stock sub?
Yes sir, you can adjust the bass on the touch screen to your taste. Just like the OEM.
Thank you for the sub wire info! Saved me a ton of time!
This has got to be the best video I've seen yet you should work for lexis you could teach them something thanks

Dang, that’s awesome!
You got a video link?
Thanks bro u got straight to the point and greatt!!! Detail

Because I am no longer running my stock sub, with no intent to ever hook it back up. So don’t want to send signal to amp if not necessary. You can totally splice in if you want to run your stock sub with your new setup
@@NextLevelCarAudio ahhhhhh which I thought. Thanks bro. Def needed help with setting up my boys system. Lol. Thanks again mang
Anytime
Hell yeah man I appreciate this video so much! I was wondering why you didn’t tap into the wires to keep the stock sub also plugged in? I’m trying it that way but it’s proving to be a pain in the ass
Also I saw your in Lacey, I live in Bellingham, not too far off 🤙
awesome!
So do i have to remove the factory sub in order for it to work, or can i just tap into the factory amp and do it that way?
Nice budget setup
Thanks man
@@NextLevelCarAudio you bet
Awesome 🙂👍 thats a nice box too
bass brothers thanks. Appreciate it!
Are all the wires on the plugs the same on a non Mark levinston system without navigation?
Connor Johnson I wish I could tell you, but not sure. Sorry!
NextLevelHummer not a problem thanks for the awesome video
Love it sound great… do you know where I can order enclosure for 2022 Lexus IS 350 f sport… thank you
Might want to check eBay for a prefab made for your vehicle specific. I’d not, having a builder do a custom enclosure to contour the trunk would be best
@@NextLevelCarAudio thank you so much for your input
I have a question. Why didn’t you leave the factory sub connected as well? Does it not have enough signal after you tap into the wires?
You could have left it.... but with the two 12’s in the truck it completely washes out the factory sub and don’t even hear it. I also tried leaving it, and bass was a tad louder with it removed. Like a passage for the bass so to speak. Armrest is blocked off by the enclosure, so opening and closing that does nothing.
@@NextLevelCarAudio thanks also where did you ground your amp?
Sorry for late reply, where the factory amp is grounded at. I grinded down to bare metal and attached there.
Hope that helped.
i need that same box made where can i go ill do the same set up also
I have a question bro i just saw this video😁 so i got my subs put in, i went to my audio shop and he didnt disconnect the factory subwoofer i guess he just tap into the factory amp, is there any way that i can disconnect that by not taking off the whole back seat? Like popped the panel/ cover of the stock sub? Thank you
Just discovered your Chanel. Love your videos man. You don't mind putting the link for a the stuff used here on this video . So I can buy em
They don’t make the box anymore, got that on eBay I tried getting a link for someone but could not find it. Everything else I got from D4S!
Once the wires are tapped in, do you reconnect them into the factory amplifier or are they left unplugged? Apologies if that is a dumb question. Thanks in advance!
Once you tap into them, disconnect them from the factory amp. Otherwise you are going to get a messed up signal
So if I was going to use the same set up for the lexus would I need that big of power wire?
DankMatter yes, I did not show in video, but you would need to run a fused power wire from battery to the trunk. Then a ground wire to amp which you can tap from somewhere in trunk area
So by using that output device and cutting the stock sub wires for the stock amp, are you cutting off the stock sub all together as well?
Yes, but you don’t have to. I did not want the stock sub anymore
You are set
@nextlevelhummer, do you know which wires are the line level ins to the amp? I’d like to tap into the stereo out before it’s amplified.
That I do not know..... sorry :/
Did you ever find if there are line level sub inputs going into the amp to tap into?
Sorry man, that I dint know. I have always tapped from the speaker. Amplified or not. If you have a LOC with adjustable gain like the one in used it is not an issue as you can gain match it to the amps signal voltage. But it you do find out, let me know
Do I need to do the wiring to factory subwoofer?? I’m trying to avoid that part lol
Any recommendations on replacing all 13 speakers on the 06 is250? Thinking about replacing all of them with something better, also what amp would you recommend for them?
Dang man.... honestly I never done that. Yet. Ic was actually considering doing a full rebuild of the entire sound system tho. So stay tuned!
Ty for this video
do you have to go behind the seat and undo that dvc sub? or can I skip that step and install my kickers?
If you are going to tap into those wires for the signal, i definitely would. At the least, you can cut the OEM subwoofer wires at the amp. That way you don't have to pull the seat off to disconnect the plug.
Thank you!
Nice looking to do something like this. Man my amp is out again. My vol knob not registering…u think any amp would work? Or what would u rec?
Not sure man about the knob. That sucks. Any amp will work as long as it wired and powered properly
How do you run the wires for the power from the battery to the trunk
What year of Lexus IS is this?? I have a 2012 and I’m bout to do a install myself, have the LC2i converter and wanted to know if my stock amp set would be the same as yours, I’m also local and Washington based would love to pick your brain on the set up!!
If your on Facebook. Find me under the name: Kuualii kanoa. We can connect on messenger there.
2011 to answer your question
Is that a zen enclosure? Looks like one and I've been looking at one for my car
I honestly don’t recall… been away from the channel. Sorry
nice. any suggestions for an RX 350 f sport? I would like one 15 inches. someone mentioned getting 5 eight inches. never heard of that before.
If you like low and deep bass. Go for the 15! Or a 12. But no smaller unless all you want is punchy type bass. Biggest thing is to get a custom enclosure. If you can’t find one get one made. Makes all the difference.
@@NextLevelCarAudio thanks.
How did you remove the little door behind the sub box that gives access to the middle seat, do I have to remove the seat to take that off or can I unbolt it from the trunk?
I honestly don’t remember. It’s been a while man. Sorry :/
Yea I did all this the same way and my amp turns on but speakers aren’t working
Hmmm. That is strange
Hay man o just had a question so I’m hooking up a sub with a LC2i how would I wire that
Tapped into the white wire as you said. didnt turn on the amp. any suggestions?
Sorry man, your message was in spam so i am answering it delayed. How is your power and ground? if you got a loose ground that could be the problem. also, if your car does not have factory navigation or if it has the upgraded "premium" factory stereo option, this wire may not work. let me know if you get this figured out. thanks!
Dedonde agarraste tu tiera para el ampli
Wonder if the wiring would be the same on my 2015 gs350 mark levinson.
Not sure man... sorry :/
Hi Lexus lovers, I'm having this issue "no sound from the stereo" I just replaced the nav and radio also check the amp and is good, but still no sound from the stereo. No fusse problems either.
I just realized that the radio has no power what could it be the problem??
Sorry to hear that. Not sure about that :/
So those connectors for the stock amp. You just plug it back into the stock amp?
And how you install the bass switch
Yes, after i spliced into everything, i then plugged the harnesses back in. the bass knob was JB welded in place. So it aint coming out/ moving. If i ever need to uninstall/ put back to normal i will just need to buy another trim piece and take out the modified one.
So the plug connected to the stock sub isn’t necessary to get to? (Other then unplugging it)
Just tap into the plug that is connected to the amp
yes sir that is correct. I did end up completely removing the OEM subwoofer tho as it created a "passage" for the bass to come into the cabin a little better. i tried both with the OEM sub in and out... Out was a bit louder and less muffled sounding
NextLevelHummer thanks man.
Ima do the exact setup after i replace the digitizer on the reciever
Yes sir, that is correct
How much room is left behind the box for the amp? I was thinking of mounting my hifonics amp to the box so the logo would shine through the pass through when down.
Totally could! That’s where my amp is!
When you connect the speaker wire to the amp can you still use the stock sub and run after market amp and run aftermarket sub
NextLevelHummer I have the 08 model
hey man, sorry to hear that. i don't believe there is any differences between the 08 and 11 as far as the stereo is concerned. but don't mark my words on that. could very well be the LOC, if there are gains on the LOC unit, make sure they are all the way up. Then use the gain on the actual amp to dial it in properly. the only other thing is your amp is just not getting any input signal. which means the incorrect speaker wires were tapped into. which may be slightly different from year to year. best thing to do to eliminate that possibility would be to verify the wires/colors from the oem rear sub/speaker to ensure you are tapping into the right ones for your vehicle. let me know if any of that helps. good luck
NextLevelHummer ok thank I’ll do my research and see what the wires colours are
Have you had to replace any door speakers if so what did you go with?
Not yet, still pretty happy with them.... for now. 😆
I know this an old video what year was the Lexus and do you have parts list
was a 2013... and i dont! its been forever!!! lol
well what was your eq and amp set up?
