I was choosing between the C100, a7sII, and GH5. I finally bought the GH5. With so many things that it can do, it's adaptable to almost any situation that we get ourselves into. The only thing that I thought was a downside was the m4/3 sensor. But in our last shoot, it became a blessing because our Sigma 70-200mm f2.8 was able to reach farther subjects. I bought focal reducer (still shipping) for cases where I need my sensor to behave like a super 35. Very happy that I made the right decision.
Excellent video and enjoyed your captured footage. I recently purchased a GH5 and am excited to use it. Very best to you, subscribed to your channel. Cheers, Pete
WOW!! what a great review you done with the gh5, i'm very impress with the simplicity you put out-I was able to follow everything you said-to be truthful i'm not a fan of micro four third-but this is a completely different animal. I saw on youtube a young man doing music video with the gh4 and was blowing away at the finished result...I need that gh5 as my to go professional video...Can you pleeeaseee do a part 2 behind the scene and afterwards the finish video..My wish list from you sir. Thank You
Thumbs up, good job. Would appreciate info on color profile used here and what you think of skin tones from the gh5 after having a few months of use since this video. I think every gh5 video I've seen with Cine like D profile renders awful looking yellowish orange skin tones, with Natural profile more pleasing imo. THX.

Great video. I love my GH5. unfortunately the rubber grip is already staring wear and tear after just a couple of month and some colour has come of one of the nooks/wheels on top. Had my Fuji X-T2 for almost a year now and it still looks almost brand new. So there is something for Panasonic to work with, otherwise it´s a fantastic camera.
Looks alot like the ls300. But i guess if you dont mind putting an nd on the front of your lens, its almost identical. Full size hdmi... Hmmm. If I could plug it in to wall power then, it could be very very useful
Hi - I didn't do anything special. Made sure I exposed correctly and used good lenses - that's about it. I tend to leave the white balance on auto as it does such a good job, and jump into manual if I feel the need to. Cheers, Rick
Thanks for the reply, and you never know in todays world a lot of people color grade the heck outta every shot! I actually just use curves if I need too, but that camera gets great colors. Must be the panasonic color science there!
Would you recommend the gh5 over the super 35mm sensor jvc ls300 as a main camera? I use the DJI x5 osmo now but would like a camera to compliment that has more of a film look
Very nice review. I have this camera too with the 12-35, 12-60 (f2.8) and 100-300 and I totally agree with you. This camera rocks. I would very much like to know what settings you are using? I find your image very colourfull and natural looking, sharp and with no noise or artefacts like we often see in these reviews. Are you using LUTs, VLog or is it just Natural og Cine D? Could you enlighten us a bit in how you get this nice look? Thx in advance.
I have two questions, one is...is there any difference in overall image quality between 10bit 4:2:2 and 8bit 4:2:0 or is it just better colour? My Second question is...I have Sony Vegas 13 and am wondering if the render quality would be as good as if I was using Final Cut Pro?
More colour info. using 10-bit 4:2:2 over 8-bit 4:2:0. You have more information to work with which means less artefacts, and, arguably, punchier images, some would say smoother graduations in subtle colour tones...
For me the best deal is the GH5 with 12-60mm Panasonic Leica F2.8/4. In the UK you can the body and lens for less than cost of the body only GH5S. Of course the low light performance of the GH5S would be great - however, I never thought the GH5 had bad performance in low light. I also really like the stabilisation with the GH5. I use this a lot and can work without a tripod at times. I think the GH5 is a better deal the GH5S in terms of cost. However, I may well end up with a GH5S myself at some point. For now I'm staying with the GH5 as it is so good just the way it is! Cheers, Rick
beware , removing the battery from the battery grip before completely runs out the camera will switch off without saving the file and you will end up with a corrupted MDT file like what happened to me. it was a paid job, I tried to repair the file but I was unsuccessful!!l
it only happens if you remove the battery from the grip before the power transfer to the battery in camera. I learned the hard way. What I am concerned about is repairing the corrupt file with MDT extension. as it is from paid job I did. have you repaired the your corrupt files?
Paradigm Images Video-Photography I don't have a battery grip but still ended up with a bad file. I'm wondering if it happened when switching from SD card 1 to 2. In a test later that worked ok. I got the software from the German company and tried to repair. It partially worked. The video was pretty good although it had some artifacts. But the audio was out of sync. Fixing the sync at one point three it off elsewhere.
Sold! Just getting a GH5 now. Thanks for the review and all your work. I'm just referring to your FCPX book to solve a little problem.

wow I learned alot about this camera and I own one myself. thanks m8!
Wonderful job man! Just got this bad boy. It's an absolute beauty!
I'm looking forward to picking up a GH5 soon. I've watched tons of videos on the GH5. Your video cements the deal.
Great video mate! Very informative!

Thanks for the video. Would you recommend this over the LS300 for corporate training videos and travel documentaries?
So, Panasonic GH5 or JVC GY-LS300?!??

You can do that with some different kind of battery so you can use AC power! :)
Any suggestions on how to get the best image outta the gh5 with minimal grading? Your footage has just perfect color

Rick showed it his credentials The birds are very obliging in Perth.
what picture style did you use for this film? i didnt see saturated orange on the skintone.

GH5 + Veydra lenses :)
I can't afford a gh5... so I ended buying a g85... and I am amazed! Anyone else did? :)
Great review. I love M gh5 gives my RUclips a better quality 🔥. I was wondering which bag are you using?

What frame rates you where recording?
Lovely review of the GH5. What do you think of the new GH5S dude? Bearing in mind it has no IBIS. As a filmmaker I am torn. Do I buy the GH5 or GH5S?

I love my GH5 except for this problem with corrupt files. Has happened to me several times. Never had that with my GH4.
