Can’t Take My Eyes Off You- Frankie Valley and 4 Seasons. Gents pretty confident you will like this song. It was a huge charting song back in 68. Love to see you react to it! Thanks for this great reaction.
@@vintwin69 I agree.... I saw this sort- of mini documentary and Gerry Polci said he did not like to sing lead tho. Bummer, because he's got an awesome voice. He'd probably be up there with the Phil Collins's and Don Henley's of the lead drummer-singers, imo of course.
Y'all ought to listen to their number one hit... December, 1963 ("Oh What A Night") where the drummer Gerri Polci sings lead. It is their biggest hit, having been streamed almost 500 million times now on Spotify. (the next closest is "Sherry" at about 110 million streams) The original and remix versions of "Oh What A Night" spent a combined, near-record 54 weeks on Billboard's Hot 100 chart. Frankie Valli & The Four Seasons go back all the way to 1962 when their first hit "Sherry" topped the charts...26 hits later, movies about them, awards given, and they are still relevant. ✌😎.
The Broadway musical “Jersey Boys” is a terrific and detailed look at the careers of Frankie Valley & The Four Seasons. Generally, I don’t care for musicals but this was more like a concert with narration.
Fenom is correct! Frankie Valli and Joe Pesci from my home state of NJ. They were both from Newark and the original band started there in 1960. Great song and thanks for reacting to the tune
Oh Fenom, Joe Pesci grew up with the original 4 Seasons members .. Love Frankie Valli and all of their catalog, it's a deep, deep rabbit hole. Big Girls Don't Cry, Sherry, Walk Like A Man, and a zillion more!!! He's STILL performing into his 80's!! ❤❤❤❤❤❤
Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons, the crème de la crème in my growing up years oh my goodness gracious we had such great music, such great vocalist and groups. We were never disappointed.🔥🔥🔥🔥
Great song guys!! Frankie Valle is one hell of a singer and he’s got a load of songs over many years on the charts! This song swings and is really catchy!!!
I heard Sherry when I was 11 or 12 years old. We all thought the group was black. The 4 Seasons had a lot of hits. This is a good one. Watch the movie Jersey Boys.
You guys have become my fave reactors! I love your comments after the song is over, you don't interrupt the performances, and man what enthusiasm you have. I know this song well from club hopping with my old friends back in the day, but had never seen this video. Thanks mucho!
There Is a line in good fellas when henry hill stood up the girl for dinner and she went looking for him she said "you got some nerve standing me up! Who do you think you are Frankie Valli or something?"😅😅
The "NEW" 4 SEASONS in the video were Gerry Polci on drums, Don Ciccone bass, Lee Shapiro keyboards and John Paiva lead guitar---these 4 backed up Frankie Valli from 1973 through 1977-Gerry Polci sang lead on their next song--"Dec.'63 -Oh What a Night" -their biggest hit
Always love FB & The four seasons & saw them in person as a teen. This one brings back good memory vibes but I was not aware of the date it came out which was my 16th birthday. Makes it even more special to me.
Your reaction to this hit is priceless! The mid-70s Frankie Valli & the Four Seasons were: Gerry Polci (drums); Lee Shapiro (keyboards); John Paiva (rhythm guitar); Don Ciccone (bass & rhythm guitar). Original members: Frankie Valli, Bob Gaudio (who co-wrote Who Loves You! and many of their other big hits), Nick Massi (bass), and Tommy DeVito (guitar).
My childhood favorite group. Singing along with Frankie’s falsetto actually helped me learn to control my soprano voice. Still listen and sing with the original songs from the 60s most days. My favorites are “Let’s Hang On” and “Opus 17”, but love all of them. Being a Jersey Girl, I’ve been a huge fan and have seen Frankie perform 3 times, plus the play “Jersey Boys”and the movie several times.

Right into Frankie Valli and the 4 seasons ,saw Jersey boys show , absolutely brilliant . Once again I have to say the 70s was the best decade for music .
Franki Valli had a part in the Sapranos. Played the 4 seasons while in high school on cassette player in the car, '66 Chevy Caprice, we blasted their music😂😂 so much fun back then💃☘️
This is a production masterpiece. I won’t even get into all the reasons why this song is amazing. and I also won’t get into all of the craziness behind the song with the shuffling around of the vocals and Frankie Valli being out of the country and the management doing weird stuff. Infighting etc. But the production is just so freaking good. (The Sound Factory there is a story in itself right there!) So much great music was made in that studio.
Jersey Boys is a stage play about their young lives becoming a group. Some were what they referred to as juvenile delinquents. Their stars were alined for making music, and, as they say, the rest is history.
my uncle knew frankie and was a drummer . frankie asked him to play drums for him. all from newark nj. the next song from the same time is, oh what a night december 1963. its also a funky dance song i know you will like
The first 45 I bought was Walk Like a Man by the Four Seasons, one of the most popular groups (aliong with the Beatles) of my youth. So many enjoyable hits. If only for your own enjoyment, you guys need to take a deep dive into the Four Seasons catalog. One other thought - A catchphrase of Telly Savalas in the TV series Kojak (1973-1978) was "Who loves ya, baby?" The Four Seasons hit was released in 1975, I believe. I've often wondered if either of those two entities influenced the other with that phrase.
Frankie Valli's range was critical to the early success for the group, but he wanted to be a more complete singer, actually more of a jazz singer. He eventually got the record label to agree to let him do some more traditional sounds, but it was a very good working relationship with the group, and the guy who wrote most of the 4 Seasons songs wrote many of Valli's "solo" hits. First was Can't Take My Eyes Off You, which I think was going to be released as a Four Seasons song, but the label decided against it. As it turned out, bringing in non-falsetto songs was likely critical to the long term success of the group. They did have a down period in the late 60s/early 70s before a massive comeback with Who Loves You, Oh What a Night (December 63), and Valli's individual hits, including the massive "My Eyes Adored You." As usual, they have a lot of lesser known songs that are exceptional.
I'm thinking "December 1963" should be next, also from 1975. They had a bunch of GREAT earlier hits but, IMO, were more Pop songs. This song and "December 1963 (Oh What a Night)" showed more versatility and quality song writing. And yes, Frankie Valli was known mostly for singing incredible falsetto.
BTW, "Who Loves You" hit #3 in '75 BUT "December 1963" was the #4 song on Billboards' Top 100 for the YEAR in '76. At least according to what I can find.(official disclaimer)🙂
