Excellent reaction. This song is about the Sack of Rome in 1542, when mercenaries of Holy Roman Emperor Charles V mutinied over not being paid. They assaulted Rome, and 189 Swiss Guards formed ranks in the Vatican to defend the Pope against 20,000+ mercenaries. None survived. One of my favorite Sabaton songs, and an awesome story of heroism and dedication to duty. I have a hard time imagining anything more difficult than standing your ground, knowing that you were going to die, but continuing to honor the oath you had taken.
As far as Tommy leaving, as long as Joakim (lead vocalist and the composer of the majority of their music) and Par (bass player, in charge of the business side, and co-writer of the lyrics for most of their songs) remain Sabaton will continue to make and release awesome music. Keep in mind, Tommy only played on 2 of Sabaton's ten albums and they have replaced their guitarists many times. I am confident that many exceptional guitarists will step forward for the chance to play with Sabaton.

It was just weird as everything else was right just the date and Sabaton sang it twice too!
That date is definitely drilled into me as my mother was heavily into art history and the Sack of Rome marks the end of the Italian High Renaissance.
Just look at the Sistine Chapel - the ceiling was painted before the Sack and is very different from the Last Judgement which was painted by the same artist after the Sack.

@@johncrwarner Interesting about the Sistine Chapel, never realized that before. I can see how the Sack and attack on the Pope could change the artists mindset. History is endlessly fascinating and there is always another layer to uncover.
Sometimes my fingers have a mind of their own. Guess I should have taken typing in school instead of woodworking (which I am terrible at).

The Sack of Rome reduced the population of Rome considerably (I think it dropped by 2/3 or something catastrophic) and moved power away from Rome too.
My mother kept until she died my letter-rack I made in woodwork. I always said it was more glue than wood LOL

For the Sassenachs the Sack of Rome in 1527 is indirectly important
as because of that the Pope was in the "protective custody" of Charles V,
Holy Roman Emperor and more importantly nephew of Catherine of Aragon,
so when Henry VIII wanted his divorce - the pope declined to grant it
as Charles V was supportive of his aunt.
So the move to Protestantism and ultimately to the Stuarts was kicked off.

BTW a band called Nanowar of Steel did a parody song of Sabaton
with the singer (Joakim Brodén) featuring too. It was about the 1994 World Cup Final
    imagined as a war.
