Spacemonk edits do you happen to know the name of the score playing in the background?
He truly understands their culture. At least enough to exploit it for his own gains. That guy from solo was in the hologram too.
I prefer Grievous' speech to the droids www.reddit.com/r/StarWars/comments/eql2gw/grievous_motivational_speech/
Troll uNeed Maul is complicated.. his manipulations make sense but is grimy af as per the nature of the Sith and dark side..
I mean he didn't lie to them or really manipulate them per say. He was giving them what they wanted and told them how it is. At the same time he was allowing them the chance to avoid the inevitable fate they would face if Sidious dug his claws into them. "If you die at least you die standing then die under the boot."
Yes. Listen to how he says "You'll die" Not "We'll die".
EverythingbyMe6 Dryden Vos
“Maul just told the syndicate leaders to go into hiding”
There is something so awfully foreboding and chilling about that line.
Powerful crime syndicates being *Instructed* to hide away like children in a bunker before the bombs hit
I love the eeriness of that line really helps to show just how deadly and galaxy changing Order 66 was.
Love that they included Dryden Voss from Solo in that group.
@@rc59191and in The Bad Batch, it shows. Everyone was either targeted or in a power scramble
Maul: You were not meant to live in the GUTTERS
Decades later, his statement did not age well...
Mandos are such bums
codafett well they’ve had their asses kicked but they have always survived
@@cooljackster7390 Barely but still survived
Well now the only mandos that are left is the Din Jarin, Bo Katan, and that badass blacksmith lady
@@kev._._._. Well considering Bo Katan was the last person to have the Darksaber prior to The Mandalorian (and now Moff Gideon has it), she may in fact be dead. Remember Bo Katan showing up is a rumor, and it's possible it'd just be a flashback if she does show up. But otherwise, yes.
I think season 7 was very successful in giving the impression the world was ending, and making the character of Sidious this terrifying, unstopable and occult threat
Yup
I don't think I've ever quite enjoyed myself with star wars as much as I have waiting for each of the final 3 episodes to come out. The tension having to wait each week wondering when it's all going to turn upside down was insane.
I think we can all agree that Maul was one of the more intimidating, hardened characters in Star Wars, and he was still TERRIFIED of Sidious. When he first met Ashoka, he stutters by simply mentioning his name....
And the savage death arc, the penultimate mandalore arc where he just waltzes in toys with them a bit kills savage electrocutes maul and then leaves, fucking terrifying
"I thought Dooku was an old fool.... But now I see he and I are the same... " Man this is amazing writing, he realizes Sidious had always been steps ahead of them and whoever Sidious takes as an apprentice he becomes his pawn. Maul literally knew what would happen in the future. Maul was as wise as one would get during this time. Brilliant character
I honestly think Maul felt some kind of kinship and respect for his Mandalorians. Especially after the loss of his mother. While he wouldn't hesitate to sacrifice them, I think he felt their loss regrettably necessary, vs not caring at all.
“Die well Mandalorian”
He looked down on them and rightfully because Mandalorians are pretty stupid tbh.
Let's be honest, we would have understand a lot more what's going on if we had The son of Dathomir arc instead of the second arc we got in this season.
Yeah it annoys me that we didn’t get son of dathomir animated instead of a comic and also dark disciple. Though I think there going to continue with arcs after the finale
@@clearshade3560 It's actually very possible. They will probably tie Son of Dathomir, Dark disciple, Crystal Crisis on Utapau and The bounty hunters arc into season 6. So full season like the rest not including 7 though.
No can do, Disney listened to the fans and they now know what they truly want:
More pointless filler in the middle of a movie/show, obviously!
Dark Disciple is hot trash. Quinlan Vos getting hooked up with Ventress and almost defeating Dooku ? What crap is that ? This is one of the instances where the old Republic comics by Dark Horse had a better story. Even Ventress' end in the old EU was better. But overall, this Siege of Mandalore arc is brilliant.
Son of Dathomir, Dark Disciple, and the Boba arc are the main ones I want. Even just getting one of those as like an anniversary special or something would be amazing.
The way he says “ the darkside has never been stronger “ almost seems like he wishes it wasn’t
He sounds terrified.
I love how Maul is addressed as “my lord”.
I love how he starts to understand the true background to Sidious’s plan. He understands that himself and Dooku were nothing but puppets for Sidious. He knows that Anakin was the apprentice Sidious wanted all along even back when Maul was his apprentice. Stuff like this makes the shows and the prequels so great because of how consistent they were with each other.
Well dooku was moreso a puppet then dooku as he was just a stand in and maul was an actual loss not a loss on a human level but like having yoir sweet new gaming system or vr headset smashed to bit's he was pissed amd maybe just a shred bit sad but he decided too just move on in the meantime and pick up the pieces of his failed attempt to capture anakin and use dooku as a standin until a time would come where he could secure anakin and dispose of dooku, while also building his relationship and trust with him as the chancellor.
Dooku was Sidious's temporary bidder throughout the clone wars.
Sidious was planning on keeping maul as his apprentice all the way through but after maul was defeated on Naboo, he was replaced. That is until he realised anakins power so he waited until the right moment to turn him to the dake side.
Maul might have suffered the same fate as dooku if he remained as sidious's apprentice and never got beaten on Naboo, or maul might have already been more powerful than anakin by then because he would have had a lot more training done by sidious.
In all honesty, in the way of the Sith there is no master and apprentice, only puppet and puppeteer.
Yes
If there is one thing the prequels were not, is consistent... The had no sense, and they're Satan's creation.
But we did get CW thanks to them, so that's a plus.
No actually Sidious said Dooku was easily dispersed of but Maul was a loss in the rule of 2 in a canon comic he says that to Vader
Maul is an incredible character. His relationship with sidious was different than the ones dooku and Vader had with him. Dooku and Vader saw sidious as a master; as a ruler. Maul, throughout his entire youth, saw him as a father figure. This is why maul is so intelligent and manipulative with his planning and scheming. He got that from sidious. We as people inherit ideals, ways of thinking, etc. from our parents. Maul inherited this ability to manipulate and plan from sidious. He is in some ways more like sidious than any other character, and in some ways, he is the polar opposite. STUPENDOUS character development.
Exactly, and clearly the feeling was mutual to some degree with sidious. Whether he was just a mere tool or had the potential to be more to sidious, he was still a major loss that sidious actually acknowledged
0:30 Still pains me greatly that we never got to see that story arc animated and included in season 7. I will not rest until it is.
Sign the clone wars petition
At least we got the comic
The comic is a great read but agreed. I think it would have been cool if we had seen that arc as the first arc in season 7. Get that closure on how Maul all of a sudden returned in season 7 for viewers who haven't read son of Dathomir.
Adding Dryden Voss as a cameo appearance we can all agree was pure genius
Seeing Maul as scared and somewhat fanatical in his approach towards the end is truly spine tingling, it’s like we are standing on the edge and taking a deep breath before just plunging into the chaos and emotion
yeah its awesome
Dryden Voss has got nothing on Prince Xizor being there. I'd rather have a Shadows of the Empire connection than a Solo connection.
Bryagh Ommadon that’s not prince Xizor
@@bryaghommadon9485 i really dont see why its such a big deal to have the cameo from Solo, its just a guy from a half decent movie. I think these comments are paid half the time
Exactly would love a comic or book about Drydens time during the Clone Wars since we never got to see him in the show when Maul was forming his crime syndicate army.
"It is not the way of your people to hide here in the gutters" makes the mandalorians hiding in the sewers in The Mandalorian even sadder.
This is the way.
Atleast Mandalore is not destroyed on his watch. Bo Katan did.
Here’s a minor retcon I noticed in Season 7’s 8th and 10th episode: in the Son of Dathomir, the Black Sun and Pyke Syndicate left Maul after he refused to support their ships which were getting destroyed by a Separatist fleet over Dathomir. Here we see Maul in contact with the Pykes and Black Sun.... unless Maul renegotiated with them after his return to power.
I believe he did renegotiate with them.
The only retcon in that scene is Marg Krim still being alive, nothing says he didn't renegotiate and reform the syndicate. Krim is mentioned as dead during the Dark Disciple arc.
The negotiations were short
@@comicop2513 The book never stated he was dead, it was implied that it was at a disadvantage with the Black Sun and therefore would loose the confrontation, but the last arc showed us he was still alive
It's implied that either Maul convince them to return or he directly forced them to (perhaps with the help of Crimson Dawn)
0:27 That’s Dryden Vos from Solo 😯
Damn!!! I love this Star Wars connections.
Your right ! Congratulations
Saw it
its cool that its not forced in your face, but fans will notice it!
I’m guessing he’s either on Dathomir or Maul just ordered him to go there. Then after the Siege, Maul retreats to there and begins leading Crimson Dawn from the planet
1:17-1:32 When you're trying to convince your friends to ask out their crushes
Lmao
If it weren't for Maul's reputation in the eyes of the Republic and Jedi as an evil and ruthless savage, he probably would've gone down in Star Wars history as one of the greatest and most influential military leaders.
To be fair tho, being an evil and ruthless savage(as bluntly put) is partly how he became such an influential and manipulative leader.
They should've chanted *_"Victory or Death!"_* after his speech...
Oh Yes! Straight from Son Of Dathomir
Fareed Toutio true, ep 12 title is “Victory and Death”
Lynam Exactly. The reason Ep. 12 officially titled is because the synopsis is telling that Ahsoka and Rex are using their skills to survive Order 66 after Maul escaped, knowing that he’s right even if they didn’t either believe him or listen of his warnings.
VICTORIS AUT MORTIS!
That didn’t work out so well last time
Maul is such a fantastic character in Star Wars I feel like the clone wars really shows the best in him
1:01 the way he says this gave me chills.
Everything is about to change....the jedi and the Republic...will die....Order 66 is about to begin. Fantastic fucking episode, the duel between ahsoka and maul was incredible! Favourite lightsaber duel of clone wars.
Nay! Of Star Wars, pitty it didn't have any stakes... BURN IN HELL REBELS
Woow Maul is truly scared here, even worse he considers his late sith rival Count Dooku an equal, the thing here are truly messed up for him to says things like that.
In the end Both Maul and Dooku were just pawns for the senate and unlike Tyranus, Maul face a fate worse than death... he lives enough to loss more and more until Obi Wan releases him from his misery.
1 1 that’s probably his best outcome in actuality because he gets closure
Max Arturo sidious actually sees losing maul as a waste, while dooku has always been a pawn for him to use.
Before this episode, Maul always thought Dooku was a weak fake. Unworthy being called a Sith. Disgusted by how he became Maul's replacement. Now he sees them both as the same. Shows how much he really understands what his master was planning, unlike Dooku who failed to realize he was never meant to rule by Sidious's side.
@@-_-379 not entirely, Maul was a loss in many ways, Palpatine considers him a rival and strips all of his family, future and pride earning him as a enemy, a loss because for Sidious Maul lose his darth title the moment Obi Wan defeats him on Naboo making him unworthy to be his apprentice, a loss because behind Maul's back he was training Dooku as a Sith... Palpatine quotes have more meanings.
Dooku was a pawn yes a proton torpedo, in other words Dooku was his weapon with a purpose, he was more powerfull than Maul and was a rogue Jedi and a wealthy person so Sidious need him to create the clone army, to create and lead the separatist and be his guest in the clone Wars and order 66 bio chip, his purpose ends when Palpatine orchestrated his kidnap and that led to Dooku's death, he was no necessary anymore, because Sidious himself will execute everything, so he needed a more powerfull apprentice and that was... not the loss of course...
So think again, in Star Wars Palpatine always talk with double to triple meanings. And Dooku and Maul were just pawns also Vader ends up like them...
@@alexanderkaizer1095 not entirely, Dooku also knows his master ways, that's why he wanted so badly to have a apprentice to help him to overthrown Sidious and failed with Ventress, Opress and Quilan Vos, Dooku was also warned by Mother Talzin and Maul, but Sidious was more cunning and lied to help him against Anakin, just to be betrayed... after all treachery is the way of the Sith.
I love how Maul told the Syndicate leaders to go into hiding. I'd love to see a comic or animated short of their reactions to what happens after Order 66 and the fall of the Republic. I'm just picturing them in their bunkers/hideouts sending secret holo-messages to each other and losing it.
"Did you hear about the Jedi???"
"To Hell with the Jedi! Did you hear about the Republic?!"
"I KNOW! WHAT IS GOING ON!?!"
Nice to see Dryden Vos pop up
ye its cool.
Maul should have kept Saxon & Rook as allies to be honest.
Seriously he should’ve. I get the Sith is all about using ppl for their own gains, but acknowledging his betrayal to them in the end of the episode was dumb. They would literally stay loyal to the end, just like Savage.
Rook never seemed to lose faith in Maul during Son of Dathomir, I could still see her being loyal to Maul. I can see Saxon turning his back on Maul now, for essentially acting like a coward and leaving them behind.
But i was a bit pissed at this too, he should have further manipulated them by telling them that he would be with them shortly after dealing with their leader. The super commandos would have fought with greater valour with hope of their lord fighting alongside them, potentially distracting the enemy forces even further.
I actually liked him abandoning them. It just showed his desperation, it showed him not really thinking properly. He knew what was going to happen but had no idea what to do about it.
@@theman6705 imagine if in rebels Saxon still has a secret loyalty to Maul and indirectly helps him when he can. It would've added to the Mandalore plot.
I suspected that he abandoned them simply because they would've made a poor fit to his criminal empire: As loyal as the Mandalorians are, Maul now needs people who can go to ground and hide, not prideful warriors who live for battle and consequently would potentially draw the attention of the Empire to him.
Maul's all about living to fight another day and he knows those Mandalorians want to fight so he let them do their thing as he escaped. Nice of him to warn his crime syndicate as well.
actually, i wish maul's mandalorian empire could live longer
So do i.
Considering what the Empire’s tender mercies would become, what Maul promises is merciful.
Love the hologram cameo of Dryden Vos from Solo: A Star Wars Story just to provide connections between this film and The Clone Wars show.
I wish we got the Son of Dathomir arc, we need to see more about the super commandos. Especially Rook Kast
Maul: “Some of you may die! But that is a sacrifice I am willing to make”
The most compelling Star Wars villain outside of Vader
There are times where we don't need Vader anymore as long as they have them maul but for me I have Grievous.
I still find it funny how Bo-Katan blamed Maul for being Ruler of Mandalore because hes an "outsider" but she completely forgets the history of Mandalore itself.
Edit: Also I just realized how Maul's Death Watch armor really resembles him, even the visor color is orange to signify his sith eyes.
Hell she is the one who joined up with Maul to overthrow her own sister. She’s literally just pissed because her and Vizsla betraying him backfired. And didn’t she kill innocent villagers? Fuck her character.
@@theman6705 Another issue is that Bo-Katan being Satine's sister felt sudden and forced because it was not hinted nor teased in the Mauldalore arc it just came out of the blue.
Even it doesn't help that she and Vizsla were not only going to overthrow Satine but also kill her later on.
Ernesto Chacon I remember that and she was like completely okay with it. It shows that as great as the clone wars is, it still has its major flaws.
Maybe Bo Katan's ego got shot because she wanted to kill Satine herself?
The true Mandalores wore the mask of their predecessor/ Mandalore the first.
Bo-Katan is stupid
Damn, Maul's speech have created something epic. The best villain in Star Wars history.
Vader: Am I joke to you?
@@haydo-9916 Yes you are.
For me Vader and Maul are the best villains in Star Wars
"Mandalore, what is your profession?"
1:28
I bet that Maul said to Drydon Vos to go to Dathomir and he'll meet him their, for Crimson Dawn!
Maul seemed to trust Vos enough to rely on as his public figurehead of Crimson dawn while he stay in the shadows. I hope there is some closure about their relationship. Vos was a ruthless killer and a lackey of Maul
We were supposed to get more sequels for Solo, but because of the release date it bombed
@@exodustimes4266 About what? Vos is dead and Han never met a sith in his life.
@@user-xx6vy9ri8p You really think Disney cares about lore
@@exodustimes4266 Good point. Thank god it failed.
Using charismatic speeches to manipulate his subjects to follow him without question; Sidious taught him well
Maul and Dooku are both my favorite siths and so unique in their own way, sad to see them just used by Palpatine. The clone wars made both of them even more badass tho, the one thing I wish we saw was dooku as a Jedi other than just in yoda’s one vision
So is darth vader.
This aged well
I like how we see Dryden Voss (sorry if I misspelt his name) in one of the holograms, they really did pay attention to detail.
Its connecting to Solo and Rebels. I love that.
Love that they didn’t react with anything cheesy like “Victory or death” or “FOR MANDALORE,” they just geared up and got to work.
0:50 Is me trying to warn people of 2020 back in December
Lmao!
Yeah me to
I really wanted the maul criminal empire movies
Maul’s reaction is that all this shit is bout to go down
The part when Maul makes a speech about promises could have been a lion king reference. Where they must be prepared to remove a deceiving emperor.
Funny how Maul states it isn’t the way of their people to hide in the gutter, yet in The Mandolorian that’s exactly where they find themselves.
I wanted the dark disciple arc and the son of dathomir arc first honestly
i wanted to see dooku grievous and ventress for one last time.
Jed Opportuneson how exactly were those stories hate letters to Douku?
Jed Opportuneson nope, they both gave dooku some AMAZING scenes
Dryden Vos cameo
not forced in ur face i love it
better inspiring speech than my school's
Wished Son of Dathomir Arc and the Dark Disciple Arc made it to the big screen!!!!
The Mandalorian Super Commandos' armor have the sickest design.
Beautiful speech 🥺🥺🥺
Maul didn’t lie to them!
Five minutes later: “So long chums. You’re on your own!’
The Mando with the Horned Helmet! Was that Gar Saxon?
David Case yes
although i prefer Dooku, i like how Maul realises that they're not that different
Damn I prefer Maul😔 but I agree thou
well the differents were that Palpatine was fond of Maul saw potential in him and thought of him being his successor to the Sith and after hearing of what happened during thae battle of Naboo he consider Maul as a loss to his plans, and he only cast him aside because Maul Failed, even though he managed to kill a Jedi Master, he failed to do the same to the Padawan when he let his guard down when Obi Wan was hanging on from the pit but he took the advantage, and then cut him in half!
Dooku, on the other hand was just the "toll" for Palpatine to use as a leader for an "Anti Republic" in a "Civil War" and also a test for Anakin to been Maul's true replacement!
@@pascalhicks4376 That's always been Maul's weakness. He is always gets arrogant when he thinks victory is assured.
@@pascalhicks4376 Yes, Dooku had it much worse than Maul. Sidious viewed Maul as a genuine apprentice and successor, just like Vader. Dooku was nothing but a placeholder and a tool for his schemes. Sidious later mentions to Vader that while he considers Maul a loss, "Tyrannus was a proton torpedo...he served his purpose and was gone."
Dryden Vos!?! Son of Dathomir connections!?! Maul and Dooku the same!?!😱
Both were Sidious' personal flying monkeys and were cast aside
José Luis I always saw them as his own puppets to control. Ironic that Snoke literally was a puppet for Palpatine.
I love how they reference the events of Sons of Dathomir
@Jed Opportuneson They reference Saxton and Kast freeing Maul, which happened in Son of Dathomir. Maul may have also... renegotiated with the Black Sun and the Pykes since Son of Dathomir.
What maul just said is the truth to. Man that was a powerful speech
Like his former master he knows how to give great speeches.
Dryden Voss is the hologram on the right
Can we all appreciate how great this music went with this speech. Scenes like this is what makes this show so great
Something's coming, and Maul can sense it.........

Wondn’t it be the best if we got her in The Bad Batch Season 3??
It's kind of cool, first we got to see Five's tragic realization of what Sidious had done, and now Maul not only sees the overall plan, but realizes that he was only used to move it forward, just as Dooku was
You may be cool but you will never be Gar Saxons Helmet cool
Dude maul gives speeches better than my coach😂
Darth Maul, Count Dooku, Asajj Ventress, and General Grievous were all just being used as pawns in Darth Sidious’s master plan. All the while before and during the Clone Wars, he was grooming and testing Anakin Skywalker into becoming his new apprentice in order to destroy the Jedi Order and the Old Republic from within.
Maul was supposed to be the true apprentice. After his defeat on Naboo, and the discovery of Anakin, sidious' plans changed.
The Mandalorians with Maul in this scene know what he meant during the events of Rebels (Rebel Mandalorians and Imperial Mandalorians).
This be my speech to my bros when we play bf2 😂😎
Lmao maul needs to brush his teeth badly
man, the mandolorian supercommandos give of chechen vibes, fighting a force much bigger then theirs. Brave but not smart, but they knew that they couldn't hide in the gutters
I can literally watch the whole episode 10 in little bits on youtube
Honour is weakness
If you die, I promise you, it will be ln the field of battle. And if you die, you will die as warriors."
The speech. The background sound. The aura. Sh*t. It was perfect.
I wondered if Darth Maul have some sort of a 'force connection' or bridging his mind with Darth Sidious, like between Rey and Ben Solo.
Let’s not go with the sequel films please. They are just too awful.
WE SHOULDVE GOTTEN THE SON OF DATHOMIR COMIC IN SEASON 7 OF THE CW
0:26 Dryden Vos in animated version as a hologram
The Maul's betrayal over the mandalorians is more tragic since he ironically warned them about how their destiny would end in this episode, but they actually didn't analyze a bit of his statements here, which probably amused Maul:
You can see it in his actions "Maul just told the Syndicate leaders to go into hiding": Maul is putting in safe his source of power which all along was the organized crimes and his political, economic, social and weaponery power over a thousand planet under his command, no even Sidious can undone that and Maul's influence would work even in Corunscant media the underworld. He warned them to be ready while the mandalorians, that were a mean to a end and a usseful tool in his moment, are going to stay there without plans of leave.
"Soon, the galaxy will be remade, and in the chaos, he must seize as power as we can": Maul has been prepared himself for this event, this is why he builded his Empire and overthrew all neutral system with his influence, but some things would be needed to be sacrificed for survival and he is ready do it while he takes everything usseful and discard the rest.
"It is not the way of your people to hide, here, in the gutters": Which means that they not have use for Maul anymore, he is a creature that pull the strings from the shadows, now more than ever, the mandalorians wouldn't bee capable of keep up, adapting themselves to lose Mandalore and maintain a low profile since they have to many eyes over them and a too public mission, they reached the limit of their function.
"If you die, I promise you it would be in the field of battle. And if you die, you will die as warriors": Maul is telling them that they are going to die inmediatly, he would squeeze them totally by sending them to fight as warriors in the war out there for the future of Mandalore, that is not of his interest anymore and is going to be conquered anyways, so they would buy him time to make the last preparations in his plans and leave.
''It is not the way of your people...hide in gutters...''
*in gutters* "this is the way"
I was like loyal to Maul if I was a mandalorian, I was loyal even more after this speech. My heart broke so much after maul left them
Not gonna lie, I was disappointed too. Ik it’s the Sith way, but damn. I liked him with Saxon and that girl.
The Man I’m with you on that
I could see Rook still being loyal to Maul
@Plo Koon Im pretty sure she died
@Plo Koon Yeah but we didn't see her once in episode 11 with the prisoners.
“Some of you may die… But that is a sacrifice I am willing to make.”

No, same species tho
The armorer from the mandalorian is the lady who called him my Lord
Rest of the comments: It's Dryden Vos!
Me, who's been at this for way too long: Wait, one of them is a Falleen. This should still be too early for Xixor to matter.
1:11 This is not the way for all Mandalorians to hide, hear in the gutters...! But this is the way for all Mandalorians to be Hunter, Pray and Foundling.

Huh. Dryden Vos. Nice touch.
Maul knew it all

The strength of this message correlates well to today's political enviorment
It’s very accurate. Like his speech later about justice and the law.
I thought so, rook has the same voice as Hera Syndulla from Star Wars rebels. I had to look it up, it sounds so similar to Hera, but deeper and in an accent, but still very similar.
The question is what is maul’s Angle after season 5
This scene makes you wonder about Sabine.
