  • Hello! This video is dedicated to my hopes for the features that Artrage will include in the future. It is a short list of things focused on painting flexibility and brush diversity. It is a wish list that I hope has something in common with what is coming in future upgrades! I would love to know your list! Please comment with your ideas! Best wishes and thank you for the support!

    Your pallet idea, from your other video for both oil and watercolor would be a powerful addition, just in case the Artrage folks read this.

    Dude they should hire you as product owner. YOU GET IT! 100% agreed.

    I agree with 100% of what you said, specially transform and layer options, every app should have the basic of editing a layer, and to improve the charcoal and sketching tools. Something I would love to see in artRage is to edit the refence, not crazy edit but somethings like light and contrast and maybe a toggle option between colour and black and white, that would be amazing

      Editing the reference would be so so helpful!!!!

    Agree with all your points. I think any art app that is trying to emulate real tools has to have a top tier pencil, charcoal tool. Drawing is the foundation tool in creating art
    I always am looking for better blending in apps, some are better then others, some are good but hard to dial in.That said I admit have to learn more about how the tools in art rage blend
    Thanks for caring enough to come up and share your list

      Thank you very much... Yes, the pencil tool needs a boost!

    Thanks for doing this, I agree with everything that you pointed out. I've got long lists of my own, although I highly doubt that they have much of an interest in these.
    Desktop:
    - the ability to toggle between brush and eraser mode for the current brush; the eraser brushes are subpar that I almost always default to the hard eraser
    - more brushes or better functioning custom ones
    - the ability to invert CTRL and Shift, so I can modify the brush size by holding Ctrl, just like in any other painting app
    - grayscale mode to check values for both your painting and your reference
    - better Filters or Color Adjustment tools (similar to Photoshop); at least a Color Balance tool
    - a color picker that is like all other painting apps, with the white point up, and the dark point down, not the reverse; there is no point in trying to be special by reversing things that most people take for granted in all other apps
    - as you said, almost all tools except the Oil brush (and the Knife) are not that great
    - a warp tool and a more user-friendly Transform tool
    - a good noisy airbrush
    - better splatter tools that get randomized splatters, not the same stamp over and over, that is the only point of a splatter, to get accidents and loosen up
    - improve the UI to something modern and let us have the ability to make menu items much smaller; like you said, grouping the kid stuff into their own playbox (or the ability to hide what we find to be useless tools)
    On mobile:
    Unfortunately, I feel like this whole app needs to be revamped and if not for the Oil tool, I would instantly delete it, it is lagging years in terms of quality of life behind apps like ArtStudio Pro or Infinite Painter, even Procreate.
    - autosave, omg!!
    - a lasso tool, both freehand and polygonal
    - grayscale mode to check values for both your painting and your reference
    - selection / color balancing tools
    - the Knife tool, which is the best tool ever on the desktop, is not remotely close and there are times where it does nothing at all unless I paint on a new layer; it doesn't blend, it doesn't paint, it does nothing
    - improvements to performance and a more responsive pressure Curve for the Apple Pencil
    - a quick menu or keyboard shortcuts, the UI is horrible and unfriendly
    - same problems with the other tools as the desktop app, beyond the Oil and the Knife, the rest are there but they're not great
    And many others, but I've already listed a lot and, since their only update in two years was to improve the brush sizes and release the program as a new app on both iPad and PC, I highly doubt any of these will be done anytime soon, if ever. Sorry, but this needs to be pointed out, too. I get it, the devs need to eat, too, but so do the devs of all the other apps where I only paid once and I have lifetime free updates.

      Honestly, I think your list is perfect. I think it's absolutely perfect. All of the things you're talking about are key features for a modern painting app. Either on desktop or mobile. I know they just dropped a release and that's why I thought this would be a great time to do a wish list. I hope that some of our list of hopes and dreams can make it into the next build! I've tried every app under the sun. And nothing is as good as outrageous oil painting. But the rest of the app needs to catch up.

    Daniel I appreciate your channel so much for my own artrage education. So for myself definitely adding more transform abilities to mobile devices would be a game-changer for me. A lot of the reason that I love the app is being able to work away from my home computer, and then take what I've made bring it into my desktop and continue working. I would like to be able to have the same abilities as my desktop on my mobile, not exactly the same but close enough that I can still do a lot of the same things. Having a clipping mask option is something that this app needs. I really like the way that you can mask in this program I like using the red separations. I just want them to use that in a interesting clipping mask sort of format. I think the masking pen that is on the desktop should have a smoothing slider like pencils do, to mask more accurately and quickly.

    Great painting, Daniel! Everything you said is correct, I support the UI changes. It would be nice to have synchronization between mobile and desktop (Vitae). And my opinion is to keep the focus on oil painting, otherwise Artrage could become a huge and clunky product. Take care!

    • @DanielIbanez
      @DanielIbanez  3 года назад +1

      That is a good point! If artrage becomes too big and heavy... That would be a problem

    I wish they would put more desktop features on the Android version. I have a Samsung Galaxy Tab S7 and this is by far the best painting app. I love it.

      All the android manufacturers should partner with artrage! It is definitely the best app!

    I agree with the UI updates, it's looking a little dated, especially the UX on touch too. Regarding appealing to kids, don't know if you've checked out Realistic Paint Studio, very cool but does need a decent spec GPU/PC.

    • @DanielIbanez
      @DanielIbanez  3 года назад

      Hello! Yes, I've definitely checked out realistic paint studio. And while I can see what people like about it... It's definitely not the app for me. I feel like it goes too far. Maybe way way too far towards trying to look like you're in an actual paint studio. For me, it's just so distracting and uses up way too much screen space for stuff that's not part of the painting experience. I really like how art rage uses just the small icons or tips of the brushes or pencils to represent each tool. And in my perfect world, I would like to see them update the graphics for each of those tools and have a little more symmetry between desktop and mobile. But thank you for bringing up realistic paint studio. I know a lot of us digital artists who love traditional have our hands in a lot of different apps! There are so many cool things out there!

    I would love to have better sketching tools, a nice pencil or charcoal, and pastels. Just that.

    I want the interface to be more friendly. This is the only reason why I avoid artrage. If you see Photoshop, Clip Studio Paint, Paint tool sai, Procreate etc. all of them have a similar interface, the way in which we adjust brush settings etc. However, for artrage, it feels slightly different, the presets for brushes seems a little hard to understand

    • @DanielIbanez
      @DanielIbanez  3 года назад +1

      I understand that! It is hard to find brushes in the preset menus... That could be made simpler

    What is the difference between Artrage 6 and Artrage vitae?

    • @DanielIbanez
      @DanielIbanez  2 года назад +1

      It is mostly the brush and canvas size changes. Vitae is a performance and scale upgrade. There are other things, but t none of them are huge updates. I would wait until the next big update drops before upgrading. You are getting most of everything from artrage 6 I think.

    How do you compare Artrage and Rebelle 4's oil paint?

    • @DanielIbanez

      I think Artrage has much better oils... And Rebelle has better pencils and watercolor
