Hi Daniel, Thank you for your video tutorials on ArtRage. They are really much appreciated. As you know, I'm more at home in Painter or Rebelle and so far I couldn't really make friends with ArtRage. However, I miss that certain "Alla Prima" feel in both Painter and Rebelle. In rudiments it works, but you don't get very far, and have to use tricks again. When I see you painting in ArtRage, I have the feeling that ArtRage can convey exactly this Alla Prima feeling. So now I'm getting more involved with ArtRage and the first attempts are promising. Let's see... Happy Painting!
That brings joy to hear! It is so good at doing exactly what you are talking about. No tricks, just direct painting! Thank you for adding that amazing comment. I am excited to see what comes of your experience and use of the software. I will keep checking your Instagram!
Love the loose style. I've been looking at Ian Roberts as well and it's interesting to see the difference. He always starts with a pencil sketch to simplify and analyse the composition. Do you always just dive into painting?
Thank you! Sketching is so helpful to start. I usually have at least a very very minimal lay in with simplified lines. But sometimes I will just jump right in! That can be really fun. This painting required no drawing/design... As it's simply a subject floating in a gradient of color. If I were out painting in nature, I would definitely plan my design first! :)
Daniel you are fast becoming my favorite artist and teacher. I really appreciate the insight into your art creation process. Please clarify for me what your mentor said with “3 looks, 2 things, 1 stroke”. What did he mean by “2 things”? Is he basically saying plan and simplify before you lay down a brush stroke?
Thank you for the kind words! It's very encouraging and I'm going to keep trying to get more video content out! My mentor would say, 3 looks, 2 thinks, 1 stroke. Sorry for my pronunciation. Things was supposed to be 'thinks'
Admirable work, I was just a bit irritated because while you were talking about the knife, you were usually using the brush. So it was hard to see which tool was doing what.
Vitae is cleaned up, faster, allows MUCH bigger brushes and canvases. It has custom brush options and more adjustments for brushes. From artrage 5 it is a good step up I think!

Excellent series thanks for doing this
Thank you for the comment!
Can you also please do some videos on the different brushes and their presets and where one would use them? A lot is hidden in ArtRage.

That is great feedback! Thank you, I will work on that
What is the difference between Artrage 5 and Vitae?

@@DanielIbanez is Vitae considered a step up from 6 as well?
