Guys an easier way would be to format as FAT32 (so it's natively supported) and use ps3 ISO tools to create an ISO but check the box next to "split for FAT32" and it won't have to copy the files to the internal drive when you try to play it will just play from the external.
I downloaded the WWE game and it was 12.7GB on my USB drive which was 16GB. Eventually the game showed up on the multiman but when i try to enter the game it shows error 800100 so what i did wrong?, I even moved the game from the external drive to the internal drive and the same problem is there

@@familieboss4862 You must be new.... here is some sound advice, You don't ask that question. You can create ISOs by inserting your legally owned copy of whatever game you have into a PC and creating a disc image using deamon tools lite or something similar.
Great instructional video for someone that is new to PS3 CFW and Multiman. It was good that you showed how to play both ISO games and Games in folder format. What I don't understand is why would anyone want to use the folder format since it has to be used on a FAT32 partition? It just seems like it would be easier to use ISO's or convert folder format over to ISO's. That way you don't have to worry about splitting up files bigger than 4GB or formatting external drives into FAT32. I want to keep everything as simple, and as standard as possible. I would rather just use ISO's as my PS3 game format for all games. Because I am new to PS3 hacking there might be a reason for all that, but I don't know yet since I have only just started using a PS3 with CFW.
@@familieboss4862 I use the Bit Torrent protocol. I can find most any games on the popular tracker sites. If you're not familiar with bit torrent, look it up it's not that hard but it takes a little more explaining than I can do here in the comments.

btw you can copy games from external hard drive to internal and vice versa with multiman just select a game from games menu and hit Triangle and choose copy. This easier way than using file manager.

@user-xm4em3gm5u didnt understand much from the top comments but 1 suggestion i could say is while having ur hdd connected , if you have installed multiman (i think its also called mmcm ) run it then go to the far left then downwards to an opinion about "switch to Multiman mode" or something along these lines, run it then after it restarts multiman go again to the far left (if it didnt do that for you) and click on the file manager It should open a computer like page, go to the bottom left corner (similar to where the windows icon would be placed ) Click O to right click Choose ntfs driver (not 100% if that what its called) It should do a scan and refreshed the page then you'll get 2 new files in the root folder which are usb port 0 and port 1 and you should be able to open ur hdd

The ps3 is the only machine with a usb port, computer or otherwise, that needs to be modded in order to recognise an external hard drive. Every time I use a ps3 I have a hard time wrapping my head around how it can be as bad as it is.

Thanks for the video i know its 2024 but hey free games on a og system, but just to let yall know that im using a external 2tb sdd, i tried to use ntfs i messed around and could never get it to work but when i change the ssd to fat32 worked like a charm i just put the game folder on the ssd and had to install managunz because multiman for some reason did not read the ssd but now im playing ps3 games.

yes if you go on multiman go to your hard drive and the games you want to move will be in the ‘game’ folder move them to the folder called ‘GAMES’ the folder should have a multiman symbol beside it

What a disaster I created when I tried to convert my 2TB external drive from NTFS to FAT32. It had about 79GB free and I used EaseUS Partition Manager because it said I would be able to preserve data. It's been 13 hours and only 54% done! I can't believe how long it is taking and I doubt it will even work when it's done. The whole reason I did it was because my games were in Folder format and NOT ISO and I did not want to convert 230 games because I thought it would take forever.
i can store about 4 to 5 decent sized games on the original hdd and tbh there arent that many i play all the time by 2022. so ill have to just leave them on the external hdd i have that doesnt work and put them on the system itself if i want to play them and delete them when i want to play sth else. i wanted to just have a larger library easy to get to but honestly compared with all this installing them before playing it isnt such a big deal. shrugs.. thanks for the video it had some good info on it.
alot of ps3 games are pkg format. i put persona 5 on external and it made me move to internal to be able to launch it.. i only have 10 gb left on internal :(
Figured it out. Formatted my 2 tb to fat32 set as primary. Ps3 didn’t like it. Switched it to logical and same thing. So, I made a tiny partition and made it the prime and my ps see’s the big partition :)

Do you have an episode where you transfer files from PS3 HDD to an external HD? I don't really understand how to use the interface for the multiman files.
Not exactly the answer to your questions but if your PS3 is on your network, the easiest way to move files is to use an FTP program (like FileZilla) to connect to your PS3 and move them like that. Much less clunky than trying to use the PS3 interface to move files.

The plus on fat32 is that you still can use it for transfering music and movies natively on ps3 without multiman and bring it to another ps3 as well

Seems like the better way is via NTFS so you can "run" the ISO files off of the external.

u need to split it in 2 partitions, ps3 isnt designed to go past 1tb can be finnicky at 1.5tb

My external is ntfs i use iso and when i try to open the game it gives me error encrypted/invalid iso, but with my fat32 dump games works
It would be great if we could always use the external hdd for everything, like save game progress, etc.. without use the internal hdd.
Webman Mod has an option that allows you save game progress on external hdd, you should check it out.

must the ntfs harddrive be empty? like must the ps3iso folder be the only folder on it??
Do you have an episode where you transfer files from PS3 HDD to an external HD? I don't really understand how to use the interface for the multiman files.
Not exactly the answer to your questions but if your PS3 is on your network, the easiest way to move files is to use an FTP program (like FileZilla) to connect to your PS3 and move them like that. Much less clunky than trying to use the PS3 interface to move files.

2 TB, because that's the limit that FAT32 HDD's can go up to.
If you're running off of NTFS, it can vary.
