Worked alright on my PS3 Slim with PS3HEN. Was able to backup, play from HDD, USB, and transfer from/to FTP. Some things to note, though: 1) If you're copying many discs from FTP that may take several hours to complete, make sure that console won't be turned off by webMAN during the process. webMAN has a separate setting for turning off (after 60 minutes by default) in its own interface, in addition to the power save settings in original XMB. 2) FTP connection might be unstable when copying large files or deep paths (like 5-6 subfolders) -- downloads might be aborted on FTP side. Manually going to these deep subfolders and downloading their contents separately worked for me. 3) Be careful when deleting games from internal HDD, either with FTP or from the webMAN interface. For me, it is lagging VERY heavy, I even had to restart the console several times. The best way to delete a game is again going to FTP, walking through all the deep subfolders manually and removing contents folder-by-folder. If you request to delete the root game folder from FTP, or delete the game from webMAN menu, the console begins lagging so hard that might even completely stop responding. Just note that this might happen. Otherwise, very useful video as usual, thank you very much.
2 years later but i couldnt get winscp to work without erroring out, was transfering TLOU so the big file was probably what did it. But filezilla worked like a charm. for people looking at this video in the future.

Went surprisingly well for me too, in my case with the jailbreak I only ran into two minor road bumps, one of which was my USB stick not being recognized by the PS3 which I eventually got fixed, and having to find REBUG on a web archive because the official site seems to be down.

@@MrMario2011 The problem I have is that the PS3 disk doesn't show up. It's reading but it doesn't pop up. Is it safe to go to safe mode in jailbroken ps3? I was planning to click on the option to restore file system. I saw some videos that solved this kind of issues.
Thats why it is good to always watch videos about something even if you already know all the tricks and everything shown in the tutorial, there is always something new to learn. I didn't know when you execute a game that has been splitted, thedata being processed and copied to internal HDD is actually rebuilding the splitted files. If you decide to copy your game from USB to HDD it will do the process once as well, after the process is done, if the files are not deleted automatically, go to the game folder and delete the splitted files, or use the clear cache game as you showed too.
Was disappointed when HEN failed to initialize for installation. But After the second restart it worked like a charm and I am now enjoying this sweet machine along with my PS4 pro...Now I have no life..... :)
Hen is really only for users that have a PS3 that does not directly support CFW. While HEN does work ALL jail breakable models, CFW (Rebug etc) only runs on certain models. Hen is clunky and sometimes fails to initialize, where as CFW, the exploit is built in to the custom firmware. I have moved both of my CECH2002A's from HEN over to CFW now, which is MUCH smoother, none of that 'Enable Hen' bullshit.
Another amazing video. I found that if you use IRISMan, you can get around that Fat32 limitation really easy since IRISMan is easy to install, which means you don't have to split games. I know it's not in the video though.
Yep! IRISMAN supports NTFS to my knowledge, you can also use NTFS on multiMAN as well with a few extra steps in preparation. Joonie also just patched all the backup loaders recently to use NTFS drives on HEN!

Hey! Tip Here: Is multiman not recognizing a disc? Try this! The XMB could detect and launch my Silent Hill Homecoming BLUS30169 fine, Multiman couldn't for some reason? So I inserted Little Big Planet, when Multiman created the disc's icon, I ejected it, then inserted Silent Hill. From there, the icon was still Little Big Planet, but I started the copy/iso anyway. It ripped the game totally fine. Maybe it was just my drive/disc/time of day? but that's the way I solved it. Hope this helps those who've had the same problem... It was a rare one for me!
Someone Special it works but it doesn't, it installs the game but I can't play it through the hard drive because it stills thinks it's the game I originally had in the disk tray and instead gives me an error. MrMario2011, if you have read this comment, *please* make a tutorial on how to fix this, this may work for some consoles but it hasn't worked for me. I have looked practically everyone for a solution for this. Nothing has worked.
Someone Special also... on the subject of my previous comment, I decided to load up multiman without a disk in the tray, once on multiman, I put my cod 4 disk in and it showed up. Don't know if this was a fluke but it is worth a try
Great tutorial as usual :D Btw, might be worth mentioning that you can do the same process for PS1/PS2 games through multiMAN, when inserting the physical disc to the console. Kinda blew my mind when I inserted a PS2 disc, into a FAT console that originally does not have PS2 backward compatibility. Usually, when you're in the PS3 dashboard it just gives an error, saying the system is not compatible with the PS2 media.

You need to updated this tutorial. Mutiman allows to queue the split files, create a single .pkg file which can be installed on either the internal drive or attached USB FAT32 drive. Not sure what you mean by having have on the internal and the other half on the USB drive.

Finally I installed Irishman press start went to file manager found my USB that I formated in NTFS it detected it, I copied my game to packages folder (and the rif file all signed with ps3 resigner) and then I got to han toolbox install packages and then from hard drive. So that's the method if you have a ps3 hen on 4.84.2 and nothing seems to work in order of transferring games

Good, I have a problem on my PS3, today was copying a game from external to internal hdd and power management turned off the console in the middle, and now I can not copy games or create ISO. Can anyone help me with problem solving?
If anybody has issues with their external FAT32 drive not being seen, try deleting it’s partitions and converting it to MBR in Windows (lookup MBR vs GPT). Then format as NTFS, and *then* format it as FAT32 via your preferred application.
Fix === if your game backs up but loops at start up when loading from HDD try and delete game utility not your games saves just utility the stuff that installs when you first use a game. Then load the iso and install the game and it should work the problem I was having was GTA episodes from liberty kept looping at the start up screen the music changed and the screen got darker as if the console knew is shouldn't play it . I had tried everything swapping e boots bins backing up to an external HDD but it only worked when I deleted the game utility 300mb -2gb and reinstalled the game when loading from HDD . It was weird as GTA v worked fine even though its game utility was already on the consoles HDD from the disc Install but it worked after the first rip and don't worry game utility isn't game saves for anyone who comes across this weird problem . You're such cool bad ass genius! Same concept for using a DAW, for recording/mixing music and/or video....? Has to be possible. Plug-ins, audio clips, midi-files kept on thumb drive(s), main software running on main drive... May be a long weekend!
If your game disc doesn't appear when you first enter multiman scroll to the multiman icon at the far left and select (switch to multiMAN mode) it worked for me.
When I try copying a game to Multiman it says destination already contains folder with same name. Please use file manager to rename or remove. Wont't let me copy. Any tips??
@@dogz_jumpshot4144 Press start and select at the same time. This will take you to Multiman home. Click the upper left side icon file manager. Click Games, hdd0, blus, etc. Then just rename. Easy fix.

I'm running an almost 8gb file with the file splitter and when I hit execute, it tells me there are no large files and my FAT32 will still not accept the file. What do I do?
Fat32 has a 32 GB maximum partition size. You can use up to a 2 TB external hard drive, you can even have it formatted with whatever filesystem you want. Just create partitions on the hard drive, up to 64 partitions formatted to fat32 with 32 GB max size for each partition. (2048 GB ÷ 32 GB = 64 fat32 partitions.)

I just did a PS3 Hen with my slim. How can I get my Multiman (Hen Version) games appear on homescreen? I copied 2 games to the internal storage (One from a disk and one from USB) and they dont auto show up in the Homescreen like most installed games would. Installed pkg files for PS2 Classic and those show up just fine. Is this the standard having to go into Multiman then loading the game then having to go to home screen to launch? Or is there a way for them to all display? I get that a HEN is not the ideal way but my only choice with model PS3 I have.
you don't need a ftp program just go into start menu and type ftp://192.168.1.5 (of course that's my console's internal ip, you just need to swap that with yours!)
SHIT MAN! If I would've known that it was THIS easy for PS#, I wouldn't have gone with modding a 360 last month. I still haven't even started the mod because I don't have very much luck with cracking toys open and getting them back together in the original shape lol - the PS# exploit is soooo simple... well I got a new plan for this month and the 360 will have to be a project for fun because I will have the ps3 as my main system :) THANKS MrMario!!!

can you split the game and then install it onto the hdd like you did with the disk and play it withought the usb? if not would it just be better to transfer the 8 gig file using winscp n then you can play it stait off the hdd without a usb or disk installed? or would you always need to have a disk inserted?
I noticed that games that are copied to the hdd are a bit louder than using the actual disk, but no problems so far otherwise (just copied KH 1.5 remix). Also, I noticed there's a lot of settings you can apply such as internal or external. Is there a link you could provide that goes a bit more in depth about that?
Hey is there any way to mod a game with just a disc and not having to do this because I tried doing the HDD version but it keeps aborting which is getting annoying the game I'm using is Black ops 1 and I'm trying to get a mod menu on it but it's not letting me copy it so if there is a way to mod it with disc plz tell me.
There is one problem that I am having, and I haven't had this problem before since I mistakenly updated my ps3 hfw from 4.86 to 4.91. I have hen installed on to this hfw and now my ps3 isos won't load using multiman. All I get is an error message. This operation is not allowed. iso type:32 iso path (1) [/dev_hdd0/tmp/wmtmp/GAMETITLE.iso.ntfs[ps3iso iso path(0) SAME AS THE TOP iso segs:1 Then the error code: 80010002 (EINVAL) I don't understand what had happened Thanks in advance

your ps3 CFW jailbreak guide is awesome, i just made some bullet points on my phone and repeated all the steps and voila.

I had to disable all sleep settings for ftp to work. The settings in normal xmb and MM. Filezilla would fail even when screen would dim...

sometimes multiman doesnt transfer the entire file not sure why or how to fix. GOWA is like 43GB and the copy screen will say 23gb

i extract a game then i gets just an ISO file without any folder. then when i tried to play it from multiman a black screen pops up

Good, I have a problem on my PS3, today was copying a game from external to internal hdd and power management turned off the console in the middle, and now I can not copy games or create ISO. Can anyone help me with problem solving?

If anybody has issues with their external FAT32 drive not being seen, try deleting it’s partitions and converting it to MBR in Windows (lookup MBR vs GPT). Then format as NTFS, and *then* format it as FAT32 via your preferred application.
Thank u! Saved me from buying a new hdd, I forgot I had a system EFI partition on my hdd. Pretty sure that's y it wasn't being recognized by my ps3.

Enable internal and bd mirror in settings. If doesnt work, update the game via xmb, cuz thats how i fixed my gta sa black screen.

Samething happened to me when runing the game through multiman. And this was from my original game disc after copying it to my internal hard drive.

Fix === if your game backs up but loops at start up when loading from HDD try and delete game utility not your games saves just utility the stuff that installs when you first use a game. Then load the iso and install the game and it should work the problem I was having was GTA episodes from liberty kept looping at the start up screen the music changed and the screen got darker as if the console knew is shouldn't play it . I had tried everything swapping e boots bins backing up to an external HDD but it only worked when I deleted the game utility 300mb -2gb and reinstalled the game when loading from HDD . It was weird as GTA v worked fine even though its game utility was already on the consoles HDD from the disc Install but it worked after the first rip and don't worry game utility isn't game saves for anyone who comes across this weird problem . You're such cool bad ass genius! Same concept for using a DAW, for recording/mixing music and/or video....? Has to be possible. Plug-ins, audio clips, midi-files kept on thumb drive(s), main software running on main drive... May be a long weekend!

If your game disc doesn't appear when you first enter multiman scroll to the multiman icon at the far left and select (switch to multiMAN mode) it worked for me.

When I try copying a game to Multiman it says destination already contains folder with same name. Please use file manager to rename or remove. Wont't let me copy. Any tips??
@@dogz_jumpshot4144 Press start and select at the same time. This will take you to Multiman home. Click the upper left side icon file manager. Click Games, hdd0, blus, etc. Then just rename. Easy fix.

I'm running an almost 8gb file with the file splitter and when I hit execute, it tells me there are no large files and my FAT32 will still not accept the file. What do I do?

Fat32 has a 32 GB maximum partition size. You can use up to a 2 TB external hard drive, you can even have it formatted with whatever filesystem you want. Just create partitions on the hard drive, up to 64 partitions formatted to fat32 with 32 GB max size for each partition. (2048 GB ÷ 32 GB = 64 fat32 partitions.)

I just did a PS3 Hen with my slim. How can I get my Multiman (Hen Version) games appear on homescreen? I copied 2 games to the internal storage (One from a disk and one from USB) and they dont auto show up in the Homescreen like most installed games would. Installed pkg files for PS2 Classic and those show up just fine. Is this the standard having to go into Multiman then loading the game then having to go to home screen to launch? Or is there a way for them to all display? I get that a HEN is not the ideal way but my only choice with model PS3 I have.

you don't need a ftp program just go into start menu and type ftp://192.168.1.5 (of course that's my console's internal ip, you just need to swap that with yours!)

SHIT MAN! If I would've known that it was THIS easy for PS#, I wouldn't have gone with modding a 360 last month. I still haven't even started the mod because I don't have very much luck with cracking toys open and getting them back together in the original shape lol - the PS# exploit is soooo simple... well I got a new plan for this month and the 360 will have to be a project for fun because I will have the ps3 as my main system :)

can you split the game and then install it onto the hdd like you did with the disk and play it withought the usb? if not would it just be better to transfer the 8 gig file using winscp n then you can play it stait off the hdd without a usb or disk installed? or would you always need to have a disk inserted?

I noticed that games that are copied to the hdd are a bit louder than using the actual disk, but no problems so far otherwise (just copied KH 1.5 remix). Also, I noticed there's a lot of settings you can apply such as internal or external. Is there a link you could provide that goes a bit more in depth about that?
Hey is there any way to mod a game with just a disc and not having to do this because I tried doing the HDD version but it keeps aborting which is getting annoying the game I'm using is Black ops 1 and I'm trying to get a mod menu on it but it's not letting me copy it so if there is a way to mod it with disc plz tell me.

There is one problem that I am having, and I haven't had this problem before since I mistakenly updated my ps3 hfw from 4.86 to 4.91. I have hen installed on to this hfw and now my ps3 isos won't load using multiman. All I get is an error message.
