Khmer soldiers gave up their lives for the first lao king so he can have his own land. The first lao queen was khmer. Khmer brought Buddhism into laos. Good try but there were no Tai people in 698 A. D. Because those people were called Lao. There is no historical record in the world that mentioned Tai during that time. The name Lao is mentioned throughout Chinese history. Tai cannot claim history older than the 11th century.

So, like , England, and many other lands .. the actual legitimate right to the monarchy had been expelled to elsewhere. 🤔
In east asia this is even more significant than in most lands.. given that a majority of thier ancient belief systems ..seems to me to have a similarity to ancient China's 'mandate from heaven.' 🤔 Correct me if i'm wrong.
Personally i think it would be nice to see the royal lineage of Laos to reclaim Laos.
Maybe Thailand also, the last Tai Royalty ended when Ayuthaya fell.

All Tai people came from the ancient Lao people, There are No references of any group of people called Tai listen or mentioned anywhere in Chinese manuscripts, Tai was a term used to describe your location or where you are from. Siamese used it to replace calling these people’s Lao for territorial claims, and pushed it to create a national culture and identity separate from the more ancient Lao people
“Early Chinese records used the term Yue to describe the non-Chinese people south of the Yangzi. In the Spring and Autumn period (770- 475 BC) the term was applied to a state on the south-eastern coast which was destroyed in 334 BC as the Han Chinese moved across the Yangzi into the south. Subsequently, the term “hundred Yue” was applied generically to the subjugated peoples in the south, with modifiers to denote groups in different locations or with some other distinguishing characteristic (Phornphan 1988). FaNgum just United the original Lao principalities together in Northern laos. They tried to unite in the 18th century after the death of Of the King but the Siamese interfered with the unification supporting the weaker principality as an independent kingdom and create a rival state Champasak
@Champasak Kingdom Sukothai was settled and founded by Lao people from the Loungprabang region, the dialect that was spoken in Sukothai is the Lounprabang dialect spoken today. They migrated down into the region, Sukothai was simply a Lao kingdom, they spoke Lao language, it can’t even be argued.
That is how we know Prince Uthong who founded Ayutthaya came from Xiengkhouang in Northern laos, the dialect detected in the language in Ayutthaya matches the dialect that is spoken in Xiengkhouang.
Thai people are simply Lao people who migrated into Central Thailand from Northern Laos.
Even in the Ayutthaya chronicles they called all the “Tai” groups as Lao people, they never called them Tai or Thai. They referred to Lanna, the Shan, the Lue, the people of Nan, and Lanxang as being Lao people.
Only after the fall of Ayutthaya and the ascension of the Mon Chankri Dynasty that usurped the thrown they started to separate the Lao people’s into different groups called Tai. Tai was used by the Siamese to replace calling them Lao.
Tai is a common Lao and Zhuang word that means native or local of. tai dam means they are natives of the black river. The Siamese manipulated the word to mean what it’s recognized as today, an ethnic group. It’s a 20th century manipulation, modern.
In all the Chinese manuscripts since the Han dynasty, to the Tang Dynasty to the last Q’ing dynasty called these people’s Lao. In a census during the last Q’ing dynasty, they even said that there were 4,000 Lao families still living the region of Sichuan in the city of Chongqing, and they are believed to have lived there since 3000-4000 years ago.
And Laos are not pure blood they’re are mixed either with Khmer or other Austroasiatic peoples. As these area was already occupied and inhabitants by Austroasiatic people. Same with Thai who migrate to chao Praya valley and mixed with mon and Khmer

They are not a separate group, they are literally just the Lao people in Northern Laos deciding to migrate further south, they all came from Northern Laos and are Lao people

The truth was Burma just sacked Ayutthaya then Siam fought back and retook land to new Thonburi kingdom, but Burma still powered in Lanna (Thailand north region) and supported Vientianne to attack Luang Prabang, and Vientianne killed city lord who was Siam ally, then Luang Prabang joined Thonburi (Siam) to sack Vientianne and expel Burma from Lanna while Champasak supported person who rebelled Korat of Siam, then, Siam fought back and sacked Champasak.
