MLT is, or should be, the greatest act in popular music. Since they havent sold their souls to make it happen, I think we fans need to srep in and make sure these young women get their due. Pass the word to everyone.
I grew up in the 1970's listening to this masterpiece by Joni Mitchell, but hearing this song as a duet, I feel your performance out of this world, Thank you so much the MonaLisaTwins!
WOW, I grew up in the 60's, and love all that music from the 60's, and 70's. I have not heard one bad cover from that era, that the Mona-Lisa twins do. They are also very beautiful ladies.
After being away from RUclips for a while, this was the song that really made me take notice of how much the MonaLisa Twins had grown over the years. I was a fan before, but since I've been absolutely hooked.
This songs a masterpiece, right up,there with any song by the Beatles , Paul Simon or anyone else. Songs like this made me ponder life as a very small child, and I'm sure it molded my character in a positive way. The golden age of music.
The ease with which Lisa goes in and out of falsetto is incredible. And when Mona backs with "something's lost" at 2:57 my knees go weak. The Twins are rare talents indeed.
When you can cover such an iconic song by the GREAT Joni Mitchell and it doesn't lose anything in the translation your sublime musical artistry is undeniable!
I also hate tattoos! I wonder why so many formerly good looking girls let disfigure themselves. But Mona and Lisa are beautiful and their music is perfect! Joni is now more a painter than a musician, but that doesn't matter as long as these two sing her songs.
@@torstenbroeer1797 I am a man, and you reference directed specifically to women, disfigurement and tattoos comes across as awfu)ly chauvinistic. Men also wear tattoos. I am not a fan of tattoos, but I am all in favor of freedom of choice. Some people like art on their bodies. I don't regard them as any less because of their personal choices.
@@jamesdolan4042 Well, I'm a man and I like women. I do not like men (at least not the way I like women) so it is not so disturbing when they disfigure themselves. But regardless of man or woman: Tattoos are ugly!
Judy Collins had the most beautiful cover ever! Judy's voice was pure gold! Actually in some ways, vocally, I preferred Judy Collins cover over Joni's on this song.
I love these beautiful twins so much they do wonderful covers of The Beatles, The Kinks, Joni Mitchell and so many other classic acts but they also have a bunch of their own songs for you. If you haven’t heard their original songs , do it; you won’t be disappointed. These girls are very special ❤️.
Joni Mitchell wrote Both Sides Now....Judy Collins had the HUGE hit with it in late 60s....Judy Collins 82nd Birthday was yesterday May 1, 2021......and now The MonaLisa Twins bring back this great song with their own special touch...great vocal from Lisa ..harmony from Mona and Mona’s special touch with the blues harp beautifully accentuating Lisa’s vocal....WELL DONE GIRLS❤️🧡
@Tommyr ... I am in the MLT Club also and when this vid started I was thinking they looked younger & like you I actually remembered seeing it before!! Why can I remember this but not all the important things? Partly due to too many brain cells fried along the journey of life. 🤦♂️ 🤟 🍻
The MonaLisa Twins are my favorite performers. How couldn't they be? With such sensitive, talented treatment of the Classics, plus their original songs, they provide their audience with the best of past & present. I loved Mona's finger picking on this. Her harmonica is reminiscent of Dylan's in its gentleness. The high harmonies are special, as is Lisa's lead... I'm also pretty sure they keep looking lovelier as time passes. What serious professionals they are.
I cannot understand how anyone could listen to this and press dislike? This is a really beautiful cover of a song that’s fairly hard to do justice to. I love your Beatles covers and clicked on this as I love the Joni version and I certainly wasn’t disappointed. Well done!
I seem to recall hearing Lisa say she doesn't get to use her falsetto voice enough. I certainly enjoy hearing it. I hope to hear more of it in the future.
Probably my FAVORITE Joni Mitchell song... and there are soooooo many Joni songs to choose from too! Joni's music always evokes emotions with her heartfelt lyrics and music. But I believe you have actually SURPASSED Joni with this one! The emotions and feelings that you pour into this version take this to the stratosphere!!! This could actually be my new favorite MLT song!!!
The other day I watching a vídeo of a commemorative show in honor of 75th anniversary of Jhonny Mitchell where a constallation of artists performed by picking up her songs. Now seeing this cover that you guys did, I came to the conclusion that if you had participated, the tribute would have been more beautiful, and the honoree would have been dazzled just I was now, listening and seeing you again. Thanks.
These ladies are a treasure. They constantly bless my soul with their music. They remind me of a better time and what makes music special. They are part of a minority of artists that are keeping real music alive.
Fifty-five years ago my high school English teacher made us a bring in a poem we'd found every month. This was on of my contributions. Fifty-five years on, it means even more now than back in the day. Thank you for this beautiful rendition.
Ladies, you have done it once again! Another beautiful, emotional cover of a normally untouchable song. I’m sure Joni is enjoying this one as much as I am.
Very talented young women, beautiful voices, amazing harmonies and they can play those instruments too. Love to see them live when the pandemic is over.
Lisa's singing here is superb, further - and beautifully - enhanced by Mona's gorgeous harmonies. I wonder why nowadays I don't listen to anything but the twins in the car? Oh yes; nothing else comes close...
Joni Mitchell was one of my favorites when I was growing up. Parking lots, yellow taxis, and both sides now... Favorites of mine! The realness and feel of your interpretation more than pleases this old man.
I absolutely adore your version of this Joni Mitchell classic. Your vocals Lisa are so beautiful and rich as always, it carries so much character and color. The beauty is breathtaking. Then Mona you join in with your vocals and harmonize, and you both take this song to heights I never thought possible. Absolute beauty. Kudos to Mona's harmonicamagic, provides such a soothing and wonderful voice line alongside Lisa's sublime singing. You honour Mitchell's masterpiece magnificently with your truly brilliant interpretation. 🎼🧡
Very nice. I've watched you two ladies grow up over the years on here, singing the songs from when I was a kid. Thanks for helping keep that music alive. You are very good singers and musicians, I've purchased a lot of your music and listen regularly. Heading to buy this one now. Thank you.
I love it when young people sing this old music from my generation especially when they do it this well!
No auto-tune, no processing, just 2 guitars ,harmonica, and 2 angelic voices with harmony and genuine emotion...what music should be!
This is pure talent, very professional duo!. ✌️
Fantastic, as usual!
Fantastic
You missed the foot tapping percussion.
I hear a little compression on the vocals to smooth out the dynamics, but that's OK, but what a terrifically articulate voice!

Just as great as Joni Mitchell's!
As somebody already said in the comments below, these young women are very special and they deserve all the recognition and acclaim they can get.
Just fabulous rendition. Nothing more needs to be said.
The un-cluttered beauty of a song well played will never go out of style.
they turn classics into classics

Joni 🇨🇦👏👏👏✍️👍🏻🥂a great song writer....Neil Young said she’s the best 👍🏻
One of the greats for sure. Was used in an episode of Mad Men and it was spot on perfect.

This song is one of The 20Th Centuries Great all time songs. Wonderfully done.
As a musician, I cannot escape this Master Class. As a spectator, it's a balm for the soul. Thank you. The world is a better place because of MLT.
Thank you.
As a 76 years old chap, I’ve heard many, many versions of this song and loved most of them. This one rises above them all - including Joni’s.
No, but then I am only 70.
Excellent but not better than Joni !!
As a 74 years old chap, Sweet Judy Blue Eyes' version set the standard.
Excellent but not better than Joni....different but not better....

Yes. More sensitivity and vulnerability. She has the range and should use it more often.
Through most of the song, she sings a bit lower than I have heard her sing before. Fits the song perfectly.
