Pink Floyd - it's hard not to love them or at least respect them for their ground breaking original style, profound lyrics, themed albums, ...
We've been into Pink Floyd since our teenage years. We even went to see Roger Water's "The Wall" tour back in 2013 and left the stadium mesmerised and floating on a natural high.
Yet we have never covered one of their songs.
We sure learned the solo parts for "Another Brick In The Wall" and worked hard on the smooth bends and fluent runs, but most of their songs didn't lend themselves too well to be covered by 2 guitarists or a 4 piece rock 'n' roll band.
But then there's "Wish You Were Here". A song with a purported backstory so sad that it's hard not to get emotional when reading up on it. A tragic masterpiece, partially inspired by their lost band member Syd Barrett (or at least open to interpretation).
We thought it would be a great choice for a duo session ...

I was a Marine off the coast of Iran in 1979. It was the middle of the hostage crisis. A sailor was playing this on his guitar, quite randomly another joined in singing. It was all beautiful and surreal. I think now of the friends I’ve lost over the years since then. Wish you were here.

Best version of this I've heard. No disrespect to Pink Floyd, but this hits all the right sounds and feelings. The guitars are perfect and the girls harmony is unmatched. One of their best for covers.

This has been my favorite song for years, and this is now my favorite rendition. Superb. We are so lucky to enjoy these amazing women.
I've been listening to this one for months and still haven't found the right words to describe how it makes me feel. Two beautiful souls and two beautiful guitars. This may be the most beautiful piece of music I've ever heard. It's not even my favorite Pink Floyd song. You just play it so well. Thank you Mona and Lisa.

I am 62 yrs of age. Just picked up the guitar nine months ago. I have been practicing fervently. Learn this song recently. Was one of my favs in high school. Hearing these gals perform this did bring a tear to my eye as I had such fond memories of this era of music.

It's been a while since I've watched this video. I'd almost forgotten just how amazingly good the MonaLisa Twins are with this song.
The harmonizing at "We're just two lost souls..." gives the combined sound a sense of despair that I don't think you could get with just one voice. Really powerful stuff. Great job, MonaLisa Twins.

It's a hallmark of the Twins, especially in these inspired "Duo Sessions" to give us a mix of lushness and bite. Here it's the balance of Mona strumming and Lisa picking. Together with the interplay of their voices, it creates a fullness of sound that belies the fact that it's just the two of them and leaves me wondering why the song would need any other performers on drums or bass or anything else.
Texting with my brother today about our dad's passing 15 years ago today. Shared tidbits of memories and about the low and high times. He just sent the link for this song; this version really brought through for him a meaning he hadn't thought of before. I agree.

Pink Floyd has been my favorite band for over 20 years. I have likely heard this song hundreds upon hundreds of times. It has always touched me on an emotional level, but NEVER in over 20 years has it moved me to tears. Until today as I sit before you a blubbering mess. Maybe it is that I am approaching the last year of my 30's and feel I have achieved so little. Maybe it is the friends and family I have grown apart from or the ones no longer with us. I don't know, but I thank you so much for this cover. You have earned a fan for life.

This song has such an emotional significance for me to begin with. I'm sitting here bawling and it's like free therapy. Thank you for this and all you do.

The thing about this song is how it means so much to so many people while being about someone completely different for each person who sings it. This was one of the first songs I learned to play all the way through and sing to. It has been played with both a smile on my face in times of great joy, and with my tears running down my guitar while the lyrics choked off in my throat. It has been about different people as my life has moved on and different parts of it have broken me in many different ways. The thing that struck me the most though was from the lyrics of a different song...

This song started as a broken heart from Pink Floyd to Sid, but it has lived on as the broken heart of so many a musician while also bringing comfort and joy to so many people the world over. Thank you for putting this here. It's in hearing the two of you play this song, and watching you do it that I realize why so many people will ask me to play it, or gather around me quietly when I do.

Great rendition of "Wish You Were Here" by the MonaLisa Twins. I'll always remember this song from my freshman year in college back in 1983 at Drexel Univ. in Phila. We would sing this song all together during party time but not as nice as the MonaLisa Twins, of course:) A great and timeless song very well done by the MonaLisa Twins:)!!!

I'm not particularly a Pink Floyd fan but I love this cover. I don't know the original but it couldn't be better than this.
Listen to the original, you'll be in for a treat. This is a very nice cover. Their voices are truly beautiful. However David Gilmour's guitar playing is beyond compare, and Rick Wright's piano is otherworldly. Gilmour's voice is nowhere near a beautiful as either of the twins but the heartache he conveys is missing here.
The original was recorded for quadraphonic stereos, the intro guitar resonates amongst the speakers. Perfect for that set, setting and state of mind 🍄

I was 14 when I saw my first concert. It was Pink Floyd Dark Side of the Moon 1973 at Roosevelt stadium N.J. I saw them 2 more times, The Wall and Momentary Lapse of Reason. They have always been very special to me. At 61 I still enjoy it. Watching you young ladies play and sing was wonderful to me. Thank You It is so awesome to see young people still like this music.
