Here’s a cover of one of our favourite non-Beatles Beatles songs! Till There Was You - From the musical “The Music Man”, covered by the Beatles back in ‘63. We can’t think of many songs with a melody sweeter than this one.
Dedicated to our friend Steve, who we lost this Winter. It was one of his favourite songs and today would be his Birthday ♥
We often reminisce about the time when we "caught the Beatle bug" in our early teens and would experience our very own Beatlemania together with our best friend from high school.
When the three of us first saw the video of the Beatles doing this song for the Royal Variety Performance we just about lost our minds and immediately fell in love with it - Paul surely knew what he was doing with all that cute head bobbing!
For several weeks to follow we would sing this song to ... no, AT anyone who would listen. During gym class, in the locker rooms (great acoustics!), at the bus stop and even in the tram on the way back from school. We couldn't get the pretty melody (that includes George's stunning solo) out of our heads.
Our guitar teacher at the time even transcribed the guitar parts for us although they were a little too advanced for us at the time. We still tried!
Ten years later, and after learning that it was one of Steve's favourite songs too, we want to try it again.
We hope you'll enjoy the song and video. Let us know if you have any memories connected to the song yourself!
Much love to you all,
Mona & Lisa
------
The "invisible" Bass was played by our Dad Rudi, who was also behind the the camera and recorded, mixed and mastered this song ♥
I just played this for my 92 Year Old Dad who just got home from the hospital; He actually just survived the CoronaVirus! at 92!! I made him a fan of yours years ago ; and he watched this one and said this is his all-time favorite of yours; Lisa and Mona, Thank You so much for this!!
He survived the hospital. Glad he is ok.
@@rogerlarson8040 Thanks Roger! ;-)
Wow. Thanks for sharing. Uplifting!
My dad , loves this music too and he was 95 years old🥰
@@doracosta4915 awww thats great; my Dad just passed on his 95th birthday! So they both loved the harmony of the Beatles and MLTs! 🥰
Putting a 2 part harmony on this is absolute genius.
are they thinging in thirds?
I have listened to The Beatles all my life. You can imagine how happy I was when my daughter requested this song for the first dance at her wedding.
Love back to the lovely ladies!
OMG! They did this cover beautifully. I've been a Beatles fan since 1963 and these two women are terrific
I have been a Beatle fan since 1970 and this is my favorite song.
@Grace Weber That's no really a beatles song, they just did their own rendition
@@jenneljustus5726 I know but I fell in love with the song when I heard Paul's version. I know it's from the movie "Music Man."
@@graceweber2822And Dew.😊
........ Till There Was You .... absolutly ..... what a beautiful arrangement from MonaLaura Twins .....
Beautiful as always. Somewhere in the universe George Harrison is smiling over Lisa's great guitar solo. Well done ladies--you just keep getting better.
We're all smiling!
Great comment 👍🏼
Agree about George. That solo was amazing!
Ladies, Thank you for keeping this amazing music alive, and you rock!
yeah
My dear old mom thought the Beatles - and of course their music - were terribly dangerous to society, back then... until she heard their beautiful cover from her favorite musical and begrudged that, "Maybe they had some musical redeeming qualities after all." And you gals nailed it - including George's perfect middle eight solo! Just beautiful! Wonderful!
Perfect ladies!
I love watching Lisa's fingers dancing on the neck of the guitar. It's like watching a ballerina
toni lingren of renia del cid and lisa are special on lead guitar
Beauty and talent, what more could you ask for.
These girls are the best thing to come out of Vienna since Mozart!
The Von Trapp family should get some kudos
Oh!!! So they're from Austria! I didn't know but always wondered, because they have that special and cute accent:)
Wait. What about those little sausages?
Richard Wagner (who wasn't Viennese) tried and failed several times to get _Tristan und Isolde_ performed in Vienna. So maybe we could say M & L are the greatest musical Wagners from Vienna :)
Excellently done! Thank you!
This is definitely one of the most outstanding version since the Beatles. Congratulations!
Sunny Fung best cover of this song I’ve heard too!
LOL
Thank you
Maca's version perhaps will never be BEATen but your's was good to hear- well done.
@@markkeetley2225 A great follow on.
Beautiful ! Well done!
When I was a young child in the 1960's my mum would sing this to my brother, sister and I when we woke in the morning. How can you have a bad day with that beautiful melody? She passed in 2016 and next week would have been her 90th birthday~ Happy Heavenly birthday to her and your dear friend Steve! 💖💖
Very sweet. A song can certainly stir our memories.
A very nice rememberance.

What great mum and memory
Great performance Twins. We are all enjoying your sweet harmonies. Just remember that the world is listening to you two. 🌹🌹🌹🌹
Always loved this song and you performed it so incredibly sweet❤️
Outstanding vocals and George would have been so proud of your guitar work. Masterful!
Oh my goodness !! I love The Beatles version, but here, you ladies made my heart skip a beat. It was so beautiful. Talented ladies, simply talented. Peace, Love and Happiness
There's always a certain charm to MLT's Beatles covers.
Wonderfull Monalisa Twins ,very good my people.
So Beatlesque, with just a touch of Joe Pass. As always, just absolutely phenomenal.
Beautiful played !! ❤❤
How anyone could vote that incredible performance down is completely beyond me. A really wonderful interpretation.
Exactly my thought!
Lyndon Green
- I've just seen that. Right now there are 72 idiots who do not appreciate great music. It's mind numbing that they'd "down" these two girls (Ladies!).
One of the best renditions of the song anywhere. Super! So much talent...Thank you.
Wow. My ears are smiling.
Ears don't smile as you know, lmao. But I'll give you a thumbs up because the humour in your comment made my day! :D
What a lovely thought, I would love to have smiling ears!
Boy this takes me back. The four Beatles & George Martin produced some staggeringly great & beautiful music. Lisa really does sound a bit like Paul the way she sings. Incredible for a girl who is speaking her second language.
" Then there was music and TWO wonderful Roses 💛❤."
That made my soul dance... amazing cover. Keep the essence of this beautiful song with a " MLT magic touch "..
I loved it..
They don't make songs like this anymore. This was lovely. Thanx for singing for us.
Beautiful, thank you girls! 🙂
Well Done! Beautiful! Love, JO
Beautiful harmony on a classic. Keep up the melodious work for us fans
no other group did covers from so many different artist and so good TILL THERE WERE YOU !!!!!!!!!!
Thank you for making world better :)
Thank you for this Video. Lg Ellen 🌹
High class, bravo !
There were songs all around but I never heard such exquisite harmonies 'til there was you two! Found you by chance and now I'm hooked.
Beautiful.
Doesn’t matter how many times I watch this video… I just love it more and more. Great job ladies!❤️
WOW... FANTASTIC
Lovely rendition of a beautiful song.
These lady's makes an old man smile great songs
Mona and Lisa, this is an absolutely beautiful cover. You are so very talented and as a guitar player I appreciate the jazz influenced chords of this song. The Beatles have so many good songs ( is there a bad one ) and every cover you do is with care and precision.
flawless!
All the bells and birds here in New Hampshire, USA, are ringing and singing their appreciation for your wonderful cover!-- and thanks, as always, for being such a good influence. 👍
Nice job. Very smooth indeed!!
Two beautiful women with beautiful voices and beautiful guitar and drum playing. Keep up the great work!
They are very good
Paul McCartey has said many times in interviews that this Tune is The Greatest song ever written. It's from "The Music Man" movie. One of my favorites of all time. Thank You MonaLisa Twins...As Always You Fill Your Fans Heart & Souls With Musical Love!! Cheers From Ohio
I no he really liked it but I NEVER heard him say that. I also like these girls but there are some Beatles covers and yes I call this a beatles cover that should not b sung or played. Altho johns my favorite and easily the best. This could b Paul's best... early vocal and my favorite George 🎸 whole song. His 🎸 sound and actual 🎸 used is too hard to replicate. And again I like these girls but it does it injustice. Imo.
@@asphaltcowboy7567 I think it's a great cover of a cover. These girls aren't a Beatles tribute act so if you want an exact copy of the fabs then listen to Ably House or just stick with The Beatles themselves.
@@catherinewilson3880 Nailed It Catherine...AND...Said With Class.....Cheers!
you are spot on, I had never heard the Beatles version until a few yrs ago when I was lookin at their old live perf and saw when PAUL introduced it AS song they heard when in nyc, and they performed it perfectly. Im sure Paul was the one who insisted they do it live on ED Sullivan
asphalt cowboy Nuts!
Brilliant !
Excellent cover. The Beatles' influence on musicians everywhere continues. Great job, ladies.
FANTASTIC!!!!!!GREAT SINGING AND GREAT GUITAR PLAYING !!AND THE GEORGE HARRISON SOLO!! AND THAT GREAT GRETSCH TENNESSEE AN,EVEN THO GEORGE RECORDED THIS SONG WITH HIS COUNTRY GENTLEMAN I THINK HE LIKED THE TENNY BETTER.YOUR BOTH A TREASURE TO LISTEN TO!!!
Just one "thank you" maybe it's not enough... So, thank you, thank you, thank you for putting your hearts and souls in this great cover!!
Perfect !!!😁😭❤️
You did it so well, I had tears in my eyes. Thank you what lovely voices you both have.
Lovely!!!
There has never been a better cover of this song. Great job.
You mean that there has never been a better cover of a cover of this song... right? :-)
This is great! But it is hard to top the Fab Four's cover!
Ha, the Beatles version is a cover!
Lori Friedman that’s true but I meant the actual Fab Four tribute band.. and like most Beatles covers it is much better then the original anyway in the music man
@@lorifriedman8987 Yes I'm aware
George Harrison’s lead guitar on this song is what inspired me to learn guitar. Done perfectly here. Thanks for posting.
Its a much more difficult song to sing and play than one would think.
Absolutly marvellous what you two did here.
It's not that difficult to sing and play; I can do it quite easily. To sing and play it so well, now that's another matter....
@@Zacharia503 "than one would think".... was my point. It sounds very easy which it is not.
I sing a lot of beatles songs and this one is much harder than most of their own songs.
BTW Its actually not from them but from Meredith Wilson. I think Paul and John learned quite a lot from it for their own later songs.
Nice job Mona and Lisa! I live near River City (Mason City, Ia) home of Meridth Wilson. Music Man is one of my favorites.
What a beautiful video! The setting was majestic. I just loved Lisa's voice, outfit, hair color, makeup and guitar work. Mona was beautiful as usual. Seeing her on drums through out the song was cool. A great song was once again lifted higher with the voices, music and beauty of Mona and Lisa. ❤️❤️
Very nice. Thank you.
These talented Ladies make me repeat myself so many times, WOW! It's like we have 6 Beatles!
That was awesome!!
Oh my god ! I got tears in my eyes. What a lovely song this is (not a Beatles song, but a cover) and how gorgeous you made it with the harmonies . The guitar solo is perfect . Youre awesome ! You gotta send it to Paul ; Im sure hed be impressed .
My favorite song covered by the Beatles.
With love from Japan.
I gotta say , that was pretty F-ing good , I love the lower harmony on the ending tag , great , I'll go back to the shadows now........
Beautiful ladies singing a beautiful song.
"Our" lovely girls never fail to please! We MLT club members got to watch this last week! Perfection as always!
Only one world, WONDERFUL!!!👏👏👏
Never heard this beautiful song until I heard this beautiful cover Now. Amazing! Congratulations girls LOVE YOUR VOICES ❤
Cool!
I AM A LATE COMMENTER ON THIS SONG IT WAS MY INTRODUCTION TO MONA AND LISA, AND I WAS HOOKED HOW IT THRILLED ME TO SEE THE MUSIC OF MY YOUTH BROUGHT BACK TO LIFE IM 74 AND THE The Beatle WERE INSTILLED IN MY BLOOD AND THE FACT YOU HAVE COVERED A MAJOR PART OF THE STUFF THAT COMPLEMENTS YOUR TALENT SUCH A RICH SET OF VOICES! BUT YOUR GUITAR PLAYING ABILITY IS AMAZING ! AND FINALLY THE LOVE YOU HAVE FOR EACH OTHER REALLY ENDEARS ME TO YOU BOTH ALONG WITH YOUR WHOLSOME DEMENOR NO SIGNS OF '''WERE TOO COOL '''''' THANK YOU FOR THE PLEASURE YOU HAVE BROUGHT ME
I like that it's pretty certain that if I liked the original, I'll like the MLT version. If anything, I'll like it better. I never cringe and think, "Why did they have to ruin that song???"
Delightful!
An excellent cover with a life of its own.
Sweet songbirds! Beautiful rendition.
Beautiful cover of a classic song by the lovely & talented Mona & Lisa Twins. I am sure that Paul would approve & probably be a little jealous at the same time. Love to both of you...... 👍👍🎸🎸👍👍❤❤
Well it for sure it wouldn't be envy of rising stars, it be envy of the age of getting to old to play and sing with such heart and soul: Because when ones time of age, because of old age life is done, it's done for good. Although to see and hear the classics being done with precision, heart, and soul makes old age bearable. Awesome job girls and may God bless your skills more.
These girls are mesmerizing
I love you music ❤
never heard voices so sweet
These young ladies are incredible!
As always, a wonderful rendition of an early Beatles classic....Love it !
Such a beautiful cover of a great Beatles song.
That harmony part to the main melody right at the end for the finale is just simply outstanding
Lisa on her Gretsch and Mona drumming are so much fun to watch. Really makes the video!
Mona is like a metronome on the drums. Perfect time.
Beautiful song. Thanks for sharing your amazing music.
I loved
Its amazing
Great
I never heard the music until there was you two. This is the best opportunity for people to get to know and appreciate Beatles music. The maturity that was hidden in the songs has been brought out by the talented and sensitive twins like a bud that's bloomed. Beautiful to the ears.
Always perfect harmony! So talented!
I’ve always loved this sweet, pretty song and you did a beautiful job ladies. A lot of people aren’t aware that this song was actually written by Meredith Willson for his musical play The Music Man (1957), and which also appeared in the 1962 movie version.
Lovely harmony and your wonderful instrumentation is true to the Beatles’ rendition. You put a big smile on my face this morning 🙂
Dave Leclair it’s a fantastic song, I agree!
A great musical, Dave. A favorite of our family. Featuring the beautiful and wonderful Shirley Jones who makes every song better by just being her.
The idea to play this song with a Latin beat was inspired by a version that Paul McCartney heard on a Peggy Lee record.
PM nailed it with his version.
I didn’t know that. One thing that I have discovered about the Beatles in the last 30 years during this period & even on Abbey Road is George Martin , the “5th Beatle” .
JUST GREAT !!
BEAUTIFUL!!!!
Absolutely stunning,! Well done ladies!
Another amazing performance. I know I will never grow tired of hearing the wonderful blend of your voices. PLEASE keep them coming because the world is a much better place to live in with you sharing your talents with the world.
Hilo tron pickups ;-) love it!!!great cover
I think Paul would say that you girls are fantastic. Wow. Now I have two favorite versions of this gem. Cheers.
Having heard these two young ladies singing music from 2009, it's lovely to hear, and see, how they've matured so well. And they both seem to be really grounded too with a nice touch of humour in their videos. :-))...
I'm a convert. Just wish I'd heard about them 10 years ago. :-((...
Beautiful! Thank you, ladies!
