What a career this man has had. An absolute legend. Look at the audience's faces when he sang this beautiful song to them. Only the truly great performers have this effect. The song is all about love and there was oodles of it in that theatre.
Paul has made so many people happy with his music for so many years. It's really staggering how many people he's made so happy. It's really a beautiful thing!
"Till There Was You" is a song written by Meredith Willson for her 1957 musical The Music Man, and which also appeared in the 1962 film version. In the Beatles version, George gives it a Latin bolero twist.
It is interesting to see the audience reactions to Paul the couples especially. There is a lot of affection between them and memories associated with the music. "And in the end, the love you take is equal to the love you make".
Paul was right:"...the love you make...".That is why Paul has his children, his wealth, and his fame as the most famous musician/showman of the Post-War generation.

Not just his guitar :) (Rusty, no offense, just a friendly remark)
Paul McCartney was without a single doubt the driving force and heart of talent for The Beatles. They were and are simply incredible.Their music changed a generation and I was lucky enough to be right in the middle of it all.
because a cover? It was thanks to John that The Beatles happened. Don't misunderstand me. But there wasn't a "bigger" beatle, they just were The Beatles
They all 4 were needed for this perfect singing quartet John and Paul were just the writers of their songs but without George and Ringo it would have never been the Beatles What I'm trying to say is that all 4 complete each other
Sir Paul McCartney can write some amazing songs. He can also play great cover editions of other artists. "TILL THERE WAS YOU" is a great example of this effort. Wonderful. I remember this on the Ed Sullivan show in the early 1960's.
"Till There Was You" is a song written by Meredith Willson for her 1957 musical The Music Man, and which also appeared in the 1962 film version. In the Beatles version, George gives it a Latin bolero twist.
Paul sings this wonderful song as effortlessly and in the same key as he did nearly 50 years ago. He's truly one of the great pop-vocalists of all time - which he rarely gets credit for. His studio recordings of "Oh! Darling" and "Maybe I'm Amazed" are incredible vocals.
One of my favorite things about these old Paul videos, besides the music, is the pure joy and love in the faces of the crowd. I was so lucky to grow up in the 60's, and spend my whole life with this wonderful music, music that transcends generational differences. But I sure do miss George.
"Till There Was You" from the hit broadway musical "The Music Man" (1957). Music and Lyrics composed and written by Meredith Wilson. The musical won 5 Tony Awards including Best Musical.
On lead guitar is Rusty Anderson. I saw Sir Paul with this band, Front & center in Phillie, Pa. Rusty said he used to dream every night (ever since he was 5 yrs. old ) that the Beatles would come to his door & ask him to jam. & then He said, "& now here I am on stage & touring the wourld w Sir Paul." Look how happy he is :) Dreams really do come true!
I've watched a number of these live performances by Paul here on RUclips. The faces of the people in the audience are always aglow - they know they are witnessing something very special and they want to soak in every second of it.
Way too many critics over analyzing everything! Enjoy what you are hearing! Rusty can totally duplicate every chord that George ever played! Why? because he is a pro and has studied the man since his childhood! I'm quite certain that Rusty respects George more than you and I ever possibly could fathom!!
Obviously Paul loved this song ever since he recorded it in 1963. The song dates back to 1950; later used in the Music Man on Broadway; been covered by many greats; and still terribly sweet!
You're one of the few with the ears to hear. I'll bet you grew up with the Beatles while they were together. If so, they're part of your genetic material. THAT"S why you noticed it. Young people just can't grasp that.

That was really endearing seeing all those old(er) couples dancing and such. I'd imagine thay they've all shared some wonderful memories of Paul's music.
Song reminds me When each of us feel alone, We aren't because there's always others out there who feel as We do and it'll all, as every great story, end well.
The really amazing thing is how these 20-year olds, from a Liverpool so distant from the bolero birthplace, Cuba, with no direct influence, managed to incarnate the exact sound and feel of a Cuban trio. And this after listening to the Peggy Lee version, which although somewhat "latinized" is light-years away from what the Beatles managed to do. Magic? Talent? Capacity to absorb from any stye? By the truckload! As to Rusty´s solo, yes, it is not note for note and I would always always play it like he original, but it is very respectful and close to the original. A couple extra rhythmic strums here and there but in very good taste. After all, if you listen and compare the Beatles recorded version with the live video in this section, George himself changed not the notes, but the tempo of his own solo.
THANK YOU for posting this lovely performance. Paul even brought back the old "VOX" amplifiers. It brought back such wonderful memories from 1964 that it made me feel young again!!
