I have an issue I am hoping to find and fix myself if anyone can help me please let me know thanks..... I have a 2016 hyundai sonata sport and out of nowhere my 4 outside brake lights do not work when I hit the pedal the taillights are working and the middle brake light in the rear window is working when I hit the pedal but the 2 on the trunk lid and 2 on the rear fenders do not brighten they only stay at running light brightness I'm leaning toward the brake lamp switch but confused as to why the center light still works and the others don't please if you know what this issue is let me know thank you
My dad has a 2015 sonata and hasn’t had any problems with it..very good car that’s why I just purchased the 2021 sonata limited..maintenance really helps with keeping the car running smoothly
Yeah Hyundai especially the sonata are great sadly some had oil consumption issues which led to alot of Catastrophic failure due to combined maintenance neglect. But you made an awesome choice with your car. They seem to have solved that issue.
Bought a 2015 Sport turbo used last year. Last month at 70,000 my engine seized while I was accelerating hard getting on the freeway. Long story short, after some testing, Hyundai is replacing the engine and has provided me with a rental car. Am so glad Hyundai stepped up.
Same here with my 2015 sonata sport. Engine barring went out I believe. Now I’m having trouble with the transmission shifting. Which I hope it’s nothing major 🤦🏽
Why would some people dislike this video ?!? The dude is just trying point out some issues that I personally went through some of it with my sonata! Meaning all what he was saying is TRUE !!!!
I have a 2015 Sonata Limited with 200k miles 204,000 to be exact no issues at all. I change oil regularly drives and sounds great when it finally plays out I’ll probably by another. Great car and features no other car at the time of purchase in same class...in 2015 came with the same features..it had most room, safety features regarding lane changes, heat and air in seats and heat in rear, heat in steering wheel, still getting 600miles to the tank.
Good for you. I had 2015 sonata at 52k miles. Recieved a letter extending my warrant primarily the engine. To be exact bearings. Months later had engine problems...car almost felt like it was locking up. Oh I lost full power driving down the road around 60mph. Took care all maintenance on time. Took it to the dealership, but they claim they're booked for 30 days. Suggested I take it to another shop and seek reimbursement through warrant. Other shop ran my car issue through their data base. Guy was surprised how many issues surrounding the engine. Literally he was genuine surprised. Spent $800 plus at the shop, car felt like it didn't want to start, or rather a delay start. Sold it asap just before the chip shortage got rough. It doesn't matter you do all the maintenance if the car badly built you'll have problem. Never buy Hyundai again. That was my second Hyundai and last.
I own 2015 Hyundai sports 2.0T LImited... and its way ahead of its rivals.. it’s definitely a best looking sedan as well... really please to have one !!
I have the 2016 Hyundai Sonata limited version 2.4 engine and I noticed it was always getting low on oil and that I had to keep extra with me, but eventually it locked up and soon later I had to leave it to leave for basic training for the military, 25 weeks later in October I go back home and my mother tells me I received a letter from Hyundai saying there’s been recalls on all Hyundai Sonatas from year 2015-2017 and mines just in the middle so having it towed to dealership so they could diagnose the problems and see for themselves the engine in fact locked up, and it was covered by dealership warranty because my car was at 89,000 miles and right under the 100,000 mark it was covered so they replaced the engine with a brand new 2022 sonata limited engine and ever since then I’ve never encountered any more issues with the car and the power is definitely a difference with this engine compared to the old defected ones,
The P1326 code (Knock sensor) could be the engine crank bearings going out, which is covered by Hyundai (in the USA) for unlimited miles and unlimited years, as long as the car is not a salvage title, at least one oil change has been done in the prior 12 months, and the 953 Knock Sensor software update has been done by a dealer... Note, this extra warranty on the crankshaft and pistons is the result of a class action lawsuit settlement.
I own 2016 sonata and only problems so far.I've done 248,000 kms and sat nav replaced 4 times under warranty. At 160,000 kms I had to replace tensioner for serpentine belt but that's probably normal for kms and it was still replaced under warranty.Recently just out of 5 year warranty I replaced oil pressure switch $42.What I'm surprised about is suspension is still fine and CV joints are fine.No timing change noise yet. I've replaced front pads 3 times and rear 2 times which is expected so I'm happy.
I have a 2016 SE with 127k. I absolutely love that car. I must be one of the lucky ones to not have experienced anything major. Or really anything at all. Don’t think for a second that means I’ve ever coddled it. Cars are made for one thing only, to drive. Believe it or not, but I swear the car sometimes just wants to go. Especially when temps are cooler. Ive noticed that when you handle a car with kid gloves that “kid” tends to become extremely fragile. That’s not to say I don’t, routinely, keep up with the critical maintenance; fluids, wear ‘n tear etc….. Hell, I may have washed the thing more in a week than most normal, sane people do in a year. 😂 I’m talking “detailed” washed it. No hose down from the nose down. (I don’t even know if that’s a thing 🤷🏼♂️) Anywho….. my opinion is that is one of the best mid-sized sedans you can buy. Too bad Hyundai had to completely butcher the look of it. Now it’s just kinda looks like a weird turtle or something.
I've driven Sonata for nearly 20 years. Ever had any of those issues. In fact nothing major at all. My 2017 Sonata still run as new. Best car ever with the best warranty in market.
I have a 2017 Sonata SE with 116800 miles and the problems I have had so far is a trunk latch failure and the electric steering wheel kept locking up. I took it to the Hyundai dealership and they fixed it.
Lol 2015 with 54k miles. Engine issue. Maintenance done poor quality. I thought it was weird to get a extended warrant last year only for Engine. Make sense now. Luckily I sold it before issues started getting expensive.
Good video. It would be extremely helpful if you could provide an approximate cost for the repair of each issue. An estimate of number of hours of labor and cost of parts would be great.
I have 2015 sonata 2.4L for last 3 yrs with 65k miles on it. Engine has always had pinging at acceleration and lagged on speed. I decided this yr to use synthetic oils and high 92 octane gas. Took driving mode off eco. Seems to be gone.
The P1326 code with the flashing check engine light could be the knock sensor, which causes the engine to go into limp mode: (in the interest of preventing internal damage to the engine) not allowing the engine to rev any higher than 2000 rpm.
I think this is exactly what is happening to me. This started happening minute after my ABS lights came in. You think it might be an electronic issue? Or an actual issue with hardware like the engine or transmission? It’s Friday and I’m taking it Tuesday to a mechanic. My nearest Hyundai dealership is an hour away. 🤦🏻♂️ can’t risk taking it on the interstate with it going limp like that. Just wondering what I’ll be looking at to pay. Ive got a 2015 sonata sport limited that I bought used in 2019 with only 24,000 miles on it. It’s now at 56,000 miles in 2022. It’s not a heavily driven car. I do synthetic oil and change it every 6000 miles. I had an issue of antifreeze leak one time that caused my engine to over heat for a minute till I got it pulled over into a gas station 2 years ago. Luckily a mechanic was there getting gas and figured out the issue. I replaced the diluted antifreeze and never had an issue with it leaking again. Other than that I’ve only had electrical issues with passenger airbag, and the blind sport sensor. This October my 3 year transferred manufacturers warranty will run out. I wonder if it will cover any issues pertaining to throttle issues or knock sensor issues if this is the case.
I just purchased my 15 sonata and it a two owner 120,000. The cousin to the kia. I had a 16 kia optima. I missed that car and had now bought the cousin love both brands. Just great cars
I had issue with sway bar links and front axles at 80K miles on my 2016 Sonata. Hearing from technician, that it is a common problem in 2010-2018 Sonata's.
I have the 2017 Sonata Europe/Middle East Version. Already on my 100,000 kms. During the hot months in the middle east, temperatures could soar to a scorching 53°C (127°F) that last for about 7 months. This definitely qualifies for extreme usage but the dealership says that the transmission oil is lifetime and they never offer transmission fluid change. What a weird dealership. Because the dealership refused to change the oil, I watched youtube videos and changed it myself. It's actually quite easy. The oil was so black that it definitely needed replacement, contrary to what the ignorant dealership mechanics say. All I did was drain the oil from underneath and then refill through the overflow valve. When the valve is spitting excess oil, that's when I stop. I did not need to remove any other part. However, it seems like the residual oil was so dirty, it contaminated the new oil. I think I need to replace the oil again after 20,000 kms.
I heard that the trans mission fluid should be changed every 30,000 miles, so the oil should not get so black! It is always good to get a second opinion , if you have questions on maintaining your Sonata!!Thanks
This car is great, I bought it used, at 70,000 and now I've had it for about a year and I'm at 130,000. But for some reason my passenger axel keeps going bad. Other than that the car has no problems , zero, I can tell it's still healthy and I push my car to the limit so with that being said I'm still lucky
love my 15 sport limited, lap3 tune slightly modified blacked out. thanks for this info. I do all my own work, the 2.0 turbo using 93 tier shell gasoline. With the GDI engine there is no way to clean pistons other than self maintenance, so recommended doing a CRC GDI cleaner. forgot the exact name. Intake cleaner maybe. ty good vid
@@RajanSangwan get it checked, but if nothing is wrong, I’d just say lay off the gas maybe lol I get 400+ per tank but I do basically drive all highway
@@physio_bodybuilding also u should note there is a recall on some of the engines and burning oil is one.of the key indicators of the recall. I just had my motor replaced due to this recall a yrs ago and Hyundai covered almost full repair
I have a 2016 Limited version, bought her brand new and just rolled 126,000. I've only done oil changes and got the tires replaced. But other then that she's been perfect. Still on original brakes/belts/etc and even the dealership says I'm good to go which is unheard of lol. I love my LF and am still glad I bought her, just paid her off a few months ago so now it's even better. At least to me
I own a 2015 sonata 2.4l sport I Changed the C.V. V.T AT 100K KM, the spark plug, and recently both my serp. Belt along with tensioner! I also do intake valve and injector cleaner every 50k Because it is necessary. I never though all this had to be done soo soon
I read your comments, can you please tell me what those acronyms mean. I have a 2016 Hyundai sonata 2.4 l sport and so far I've only done regular maintenance on it. But I did ask Lynn whether this airbag issue was predominant in the brand because I definitely want to have that checked. In two previous cars airbags saved my life in accidents, that I did not cause.
I have an acceleration problem on my 2015 sonata SE. sometimes when I turn the engine on it will jolt forward as soon as I put it in drive and release the brake. It makes it harder to brake. Then if I turn it off and back on it will go back to normal after one two or three times. That’s the main issue I’m facing besides the gas cap won’t screw all the way on and the check engine light keeps turning on when I pour gas.
Having the same issue. Found some oil on the cam sensor cover which could be a common issue with the plug inside popping out getting oil on the sensor. Going in tomorrow. ...also a P0010.
Answer this for me. I’m driving my 2016 Hyundai sonata and check engine light came on randomly. The whole care is shaking now. What could be the cause of that?
My 2015 Sonata SE engine seized while driving it turned off so quick I didn't even have time to move the car to a safer spot to the right. Wouldn't turn back on. I then learned this is a common issue with Sonata from 2011 to 2019 and a lot of people have been able to get their engines replaced for free from Hyundai. Mines at the dealership waiting to get diagnosed, been waiting since the day after Thanksgiving.
I have the 2015 2.0 T limited. It's an awesome car! Beautiful interior, push start, panaramic roof. a)I had the engine replaced! It was replaced by Hyundai. b)I had the hood latch freeze up on me. c) rear suspension issue. d) back up camera gets dirty, hard to clean.
I have some questions about my Sonata 2017 2.4 1. Trunk light is not working and even on the dash when trunk open it is not showing what does it mean ? I also check the fuse it is ok. 2. Engine oil is burning after 4000 miles I checked my dip stick the oil level was little above Low point.
+Majid Yousuf We wouldn't be able to diagnose issues like that here, you may want to have a local mechanic take a look at it. Thanks for checking us out! 1aau.to/m/Shop-1AAuto-c
You need a 81230-C1010 Tailgate Latch Lock Actuator Motor Tail Gate Trunk Latch for 2015 2016 2017 Hyundai Sonata 1.6L 2.0L 2.4L Engines - Replaces 81230C1010-15 16 17 Sonata Rear Trunk Lid Latch Lock Assembly. It's a well known problem and the new ones have been redesigned to last longer. First the trunk light and indicator will fail, and eventually the trunk latch itself will fail which can make it a pain to get into your trunk to replace it or your trunk might open by itself at probably the worst time. Easy job to do if your trunk is still opening. Basic tools will do it like a flat blade screwdriver and 10mm socket.15 minutes. ~$30 online. Dealership will do it for $600. As for the oil, I that is a fairly normal amount of oil consumption on these engines after 4000 mi. Oil change interval is recommended at 7500, so having to add a quart or so between changes isn't really indicating a problem. Unless you're blowing smoke or your exhaust is thickly coated with wet soot or there are oil stains where you park it, I wouldn't worry about it.
Change the oil at 3k miles with full synthetic and check the dip stick once a week to make sure it's not burning too much. All GDI engines burn oil more than other engines.
At the 2:45 mark you talk about the timing belt tensioner, what is that black cap on the side? My sonata just had a new engine installed 3k miles ago and started knocking, found that cap off and smoke coming out of it.
I have a 2018 sonata 50k and have a burning oil issue. When I'm on the highway black smoke plumes out like it's a diesel truck. I've always done a oil change at 3000k I noticed Im Burning about a qt a month. Not good! I also got in the mail a few months ago a class action lawsuit letter dating that the engines on the Hyundai sonata had catastrophic failures going on... And they told me that my vehicle is probably one of the ones that they are referring to and it's a lifetime warranty on the engine as long as I own it and don't sell it. So I'm going to run this mother f***** into the ground and give myself a brand new engine!
having issues with my 2016 sonata problems with acceleration, car completely gave out on me & cost to repair is a lot considering buying a new one but i wanted to get a new engine but since im not the first owner my engine cannot be replaced for free wondering what i should do
My 15 sonata has a battery drain issue. Returned my battery, still dies overnight,so I had the alternator checked out and showed fine, then I replaced the starter thinking it was a flat spot in the solenoid but no luck..so I took starter out again and installed a jump wire to bypass the starter key switch with inline fuse because it seems like the computer won't let power go to start until it hit a certain voltage?? What's wierd is I can take battery out and start my f150 v8 or my taurus 3.0 v6?? Also new battery terminals and battery brand knew again. Everstart h7 850cca and 1000ca..??
My 2016 Hyundai sonata 2.4 l car has not had any significant issues since I purchased it. In fact the tires went all the way to 70,000 mi before I had to change them. Although I'm at 75,000 miles I still have a quarter to a third of brake lining on my original brakes. The only issue I had was when I purchase the car the radio would not activate until about 10 minutes after starting the car. I showed my third Hyundai dealer a video of the issue. And within 3 days he had an installed a replacement. I am concerned about the airbag situation you talked about. I did not get a recall from Hyundai on that. Does it apply to the 2016 year model? How do I find the recall notification on this subject?
2.4l 2018 sonata engine siezed. lost power. check engine light flashing. couldnt accelerate past 15mph. barely made it off the highway. 42k mi. hope the warranty will cover it all. whatever the issue is.
2015 Sport, I have a whining sound with slight increase in speed. Let up on the gas and coast no whinning sound. Not sure if this is related a VCM failed, controls inlet air, gear driven electeic motor. Replaced the part, no change in sound. Whining sound is my only issue with the car
I have this exact car, and I had the steeringwheel issue, and also my brake assembly on the left side mades this weird creaking noise when I press on the brakes.
I just bought used 2015 sonata.162000. When I’m driving fast uphill . I noticed car engine shakes. I just bought new battery & did synthetic oil change. Any info on what needs to be updated is appreciated.
I got the P1326 issue, it was the rod bearing connectors. Hyundai replaced them under warranty. One thing I did notice on my 2015 Hyundai Sonata se is that when I’m at a red light and I let off of the brakes and I’m starting to go forward my car does a small shake. I changed spark plugs, belt tensioner pulley, serpentine belt, gasket valve seal. So not too sure what it is.
+Tam B Thanks for watching! These vehicles recommend full synthetic oil, so that is what you will want to use. With oil it is the weight that is most important, not the type.
I’ve got a 2015 Sonata with only 67,000 miles. It has the timing chain and steering column noises. It also burns oil and the transmission slips when it’s really cold out. This car is a huge disappointment to me, I’m currently in the process of getting rid of it. This was my first Hyundai and probably will be my last.
Yup. Having issues with my steering column on my 2017 Hyundai Sonata at 64k miles. Hyundai dealership is quoting me 3k to replace it. These cars are terrible.
I have a 2015 hyundai sonata and my check engine light is on and with that I have very poor acceleration. What could this be. I cant afford to bring it to the dealership right now.
@@darkfader7223 This is part of the Theta II engine warranty/Lawsuit. Take it to the dealer and they will most likely cover this for free and could lead to an engine replacement for free. It's where I'm currently at with my 2015.
I have a 2015 Hyundai Sonata.I had to have the serpentine belt replaced. My second issue I was told was the camshaft sensor, unfortunately this car burns a lot of oil..I have had issues with my break light ,after I would replace the break light,it would, after a month burn out again and again, which created a bigger problem,I had to have the dealer to replace the entire harness that holds the bulb because it literally melted. Not only that ,my car would not pick up speed and whenever I was at a red light or stop sign,it seemed as if my car was going to cut off. After replacing the cam shaft, new tires, oil change, brakes, new harness, which was an electrical issue, picked my car up and was on the interstate and check engine light started flashing on and off,car was in shut down mode, made it back to the dealership.I had to have an entire engine replaced free of charge after paying 2800 to have my car fixed in what I thought, properly. My car still rides rough as well as they did not fix my electrical problem properly because now the light will not go off inside of my car, brake light worked for a day or 2.To top that off,if your car is white, unfortunately the paint will begin to start peeling right above the windshield and as time goes on,it only gets worse,so you will need a paint job as well.If anyone has any of these issues, camshaft, serpentine belt, engine ,break light and paint issues, call the corporate officer because some of these issues should be free of charge and have recalls on them.Hopefully you will get someone assigned to you that will help take care of some,if not all of your needs,I DIDN'T. Good luck!
My 2016 Hyundai Sonata Sport rear lights went out in 2020. A police officer pulled me over to inform me. The mechanics I've talked to said that's been common too.
my 2016 sonata limited only has a noise problem with the lock window button rattling 🙄 it shakes like crazy when the radio is turned up and drives me insane
Omg mine was driving me insane!!! It took me months to figure out exactly what it was. It’s my passenger side and it was My window “up-down” button. I folded a piece of paper thick enough to wedge inbetween the side and it stoped rattling. But there is another in the window itself that slightly annoying. If I barely roll the window down just a smidge, it stops.
Do you have a video on the timing chain tensioner? I have a 2018 limited with 17K miles on it, still under warranty. I would like to be a little knowledgeable about the issue before I bring it to the dealership. Thank you.
I have a 2015 Hyundai Sonata Sport and it's burning oil and low beam lights not working, but high beam lights work. I don't understand the light problem.
I have a 2016 Hyundai Sonata spot and I been losing oil 5-6 quarts in 1000 miles they been giving me the runners at the dealership not my car done shut down n want do anything
One of the issues I have with my 2015 Sonata is, I'm assuming, some safety features. For example, if I want to adjust the bass and treble on my radio I have to be stopped and in Park before it will let me adjust. There are some safety issues I just don't need Papa Bear's help with. There are other adjustments to other things that require the car to be stopped and in park. Obviously some safety features are necessary, the obvious ones being seat belts and air bags. Why does Hyundai think they need to save me from myself? I've been making radio adjustments on other cars for decades without a single problem. If they're going to keep me from adjusting bass and treble without the car stopped and in park, why not just go the full ridiculous mile and make me have to put it in park to allow me to just turn on the radio? That way there will be zero distraction. I'm more angry and distracted by not being able to adjust things unless I'm stopped than if they'd just allow me to make changes while I'm rolling. Hyundai, I don't need your help with something as benign as adjusting my radio. That's as ridiculous as putting a catch net under my toilet seat to keep my from falling in!
I have a 2015 2.0t limited and has been great with minor recall services, I have 108k miles. Recently at start up the turbo has been making a whining noise dealer told me the engine will need to be replaced when or if the turbo goes out. My understanding is I have 125 mile warrenty on the engine since it was deemed an issue with the manufacture. I have been pleased with the GDI engine I purchased a 2020 Kia Stinger. Tha is for the video and info.
I have 2015 Sonata, and I am not aware of any issues you mentioned in the video. If a car is well maintainance then you will not have any major but minor issues.
@@andrewd5135 Engine replacement. Its under warranty. My 2013 Optima was out of warranty and using 3 quarts between changes. They replaced it for free.
Change the oil at 3k miles with full synthetic and check the dip stick once a week to make sure it's not burning too much. All GDI engines burn oil more than other engines.
2016 Hyundai Sonata sport the hood will not open. The table is broken. Can you tell me a good way of one to thrill to unlatch that and it looks like the alarm is right there in front of lever very difficult situation.
Advice Please - I've been in looking at 2019 Hyundai Sonata SE - 2.4l GDi engine. 74000 miles. Do those cars still have a problem with the engines?? I read the recalls and everything. Is it still under warranty??
2016 Hyundai Sonata Se here... Husband just told me as he was driving to work he broke hard twice and the oil light came on , flickered and went out. What would have caused this? I would understand if a brake light came on but not for an oil light? Could this be because we just changed out the battery Friday night , 2 days ago ( preventative maintenance it was six years old I didn't want to take any chance) , would we have needed to reset anything after changing the battery? With this have caused the oil light to come on when he broke hard? Thanks for any help guys!
Check the oil level when he stoped hard he pulled the oil in the oil pan away from the sensor that shows you have a low oil condition. Also check the connection to the sensor to make sure it is tight and not damaged.
I have a 2017 Hyundai Sonata and my belt broke randomly and I thought it was the alternator but I’ve changed it a few time but the car won’t keep a charge, need help
Hello 1A Auto. My 2015 Hyundai Sonata 2.0T Limited stall on me yesterday on rapid acceleration. Since then the car won't crank, ignition turns on, it shows system checks, radio and blower come on, but the car does not even try to cranks.
+mshazad73 We wouldn't be able to diagnose an issue like that here, you may want to have a local mechanic take a look at it. Thanks for checking us out! 1aau.to/m/Shop-1AAuto-c
hi, i am shopping online for a sonata 2015 and newer, one thing i noticed on some of them is the cluster display, where you see the miles and speed digitally has a vertical/diagonal black bar, like if the screen pixel are damaged, anybody experienced that? Accepting suggestion: i am between hyundai sonata 2015 or newer or vw passat 2015 or newer, what do u suggest me?
We are about 110000 on our 2017 2.4 and she keeps going into limp mode saying knock sensor but when you check the oil it’s low but it’s crazy because I keep up on the oil changes and it only had 1600 mins on it and there is no leaking oil and I don’t see any blue smoke or mixed oil in the coolent. But it needed 2qts do you think this has to do with the timeline tentionor for the oil consumption that’s going on?
I have Sonata 2017 sport 2.4l with 93000 miles. I hate Hyundai’s. Burns engine oil like hell now. P1326 that you mentioned came up at 87000 miles. So what’s that internal issue that you didn’t mention properly!!? Please elaborate, & don’t confuse. Thanks.
I have a 2017 Hyundai sonata sport and the issue i had with mine is when you drive it and then park it and then go back to start it up it starts up shaking. I turn it off and restart it and goes back to normal. It also did it to me on cold starts. Not sure what the issue was but i took it in to the dealership for a couple of recalls on the ECM module and other updates and it made the problem go away.
I have 2 problems with my 2016 Sonata: steering gets notchy when on the highway - very fatiguing, and accelerator is not smooth - it has a step function, accelerating fast from a stop when you just want a smooth action.
Great channel (just subscribed) and I wish this vid would have been out before I bought my 2018 Sport Turbo. Speaking of which: I'm a little surprised that there's no mention of the major engine issues this car is having. Issues so bad that the engine warranty has been extended to 120K, then to LIFETIME on the short block, as a result of a class-action lawsuit. But there are a number of caveats attached to those warranties. My engine failed yesterday (108k miles) and I await word from the dealer as to whether Hyundai is going to step up.
My 2018 Hyundai sonata i replaced the belt tensioner myself at 40k miles. I had an issue with the engine bogging down..took it to the dealership said it was the A/C. Replaced it at 30k miles. Still having the issue..took it back...they say it was the battery. Replaced it. Did not fix the problem. Then at 40k the battery died. Said i needed a new battery and that the belts were bad. The worn belts caused the battery to lose charge. They had my car for one week and only to tell me that. I asked if they had checked the tensioner...said it was fine. BS...battery replaced under warranty and declined the belt service. Took it to Lambs. Replaced the belts. They checked the tensioner said it was fine...Problem did not get fixed...I put a wrench to thing myself and it didn't have much for resistance...replaced it...Problem solved. The bogging down and slippage stopped..I have been having that issue with my steering wheel as mentioned in your video...thanks..gonn get it taken cared of..noise is annoying as hell..
DO NOT BUY A HYUNDAI. Currently having to spend 3k to get my 2017 Hyundai Sonata Sport fixed due to the power steering column needing to be fixed. It’s an issue MANY Hyundai owners have experienced. No idea why it hasn’t been recalled yet.
So i have the 2016 sonata and i have a no start problem at random im not sure if its the relay or the starter its not the battery cuz i just replaced it like less then a year ago so have you heard any issues with that?? Please let me kno cuz there is no service lights coming on at all
And Oil runs out so fast because of the turbo engine I have the 1200 miles of a new oil change I to put oil in it again. Always have to Constantly check the oil
I want the 2015 the korean version of LPG, do you think this is and reliable and durable car? or should i take the ford focus sedan 2015 automatic with automatic trans?
I have a 2011 Hyundai sonata I love the car only thing I have replaced thankfully is the starter which is another common problem. bought it at 160,000 miles and it drove like new and was very quiet even though it never had a catalytic converter since I owned it. over time it has gotten very loud currently with 225k miles the muffler started making a rattle noise around 200k but has changed to just a loud exhaust sound. I have noticed a significant amount of power loss as it has gotten higher milage but if I step on it a little it will still get up and roll I just prefer to pussy foot it so it will last longer. I feel like 3rd and 4th gear are very worn is the result of poor acceleration on my end and it being a higher geared vehicle for more fuel economy.
I have a 2018 Hyundai Sonata p1326 limp mode 60,000 miles, they updated the firmware and said it will it is probably going to happen again or the engine may fail. I do all my maintenance but did not get much help from Hyundai to fix it.
I actually do have issues with acceleration my question is is it something that will be more than 100$ im asking cause i need to know to use my warranty or not
@@spirituallyconscious7774 Then they should replace it provided you're up to date on recalls. If you're dealership is BSing about it then call corporate.
My 2017 Hyundai Sonata white had a chunk of paint peel off above the rear door about 1 1/2 years ago. Hyundai repainted that paint that peeled off. Within the last 3 months a huge chunk of paint started peeling off the roof. Hyundai has said they will have that repainted at no charge, yet the dealer said I’d have to pay $100 to have the window removed. Hyundai is aware and are just repainting the minimal cars to avoid a recall.
There's a problem with that paint, white only. I have a 16 Sonata in the same Pearl White, only one very small chip has come off the top corner of the trunk lid. I know another person with a 16 Accent, same Pearl White, with extensive paint peel on the roof and rockers. Again, it just seems to be affecting white Hyundai's.

I just bought a Hyundai Sonata 2015 with 30K mikes this comment gave me hope hahaha
I’m at 85,000 still feels news

I regret selling mine. But I have a 2020 limited and I love it
I have a 2016 SE with 127k. (I don’t even know if that’s a thing 🤷🏼♂️)
Anywho….. my opinion is that is one of the best mid-sized sedans you can buy.
Hello. Does it have a good second hand value?
I have a 2017 Sonata SE with 116800 miles and the problems I have had so far is a trunk latch failure and the electric steering wheel kept locking up. I took it to the Hyundai dealership and they fixed it.
How much did they charge you to fix it I'm having that issue right now
2016 Sonata Sport Tech (Canada only model I think) 100000 km always maintained and ZERO problems.
Lol 2015 with 54k miles. Engine issue. Maintenance done poor quality. I thought it was weird to get a extended warrant last year only for Engine. Make sense now. Luckily I sold it before issues started getting expensive.
I purchased 2018 Sonata new it's been best vehicle I've owned. No problems.
Good video. It would be extremely helpful if you could provide an approximate cost for the repair of each issue. An estimate of number of hours of labor and cost of parts would be great.

Leaking oil from the turbo action?
Bad cars burning oil engine problem
I have a 2015 sonata limited and it has been the most reliable car I’ve ever owned and I’m 84. 128k of trouble free driving.
Same problem im having. Code p0010 camshaft sensor bad , im have to replace it. Also having poor acceleration
Having the same issue. Found some oil on the cam sensor cover which could be a common issue with the plug inside popping out getting oil on the sensor. Going in tomorrow. ...also a P0010.
Replace the camshaft position sensors. The exhaust and the intake one. Both are cheap and you can probably install the new ones yourself.

These are statistically extremely reliable. Many with over 200k miles, this day in age for a car is dang good.

My car still rides rough as well as they did not fix my electrical problem properly because now the light will not go off inside of my car, brake light worked for a day or 2.To top that off,if your car is white, unfortunately the paint will begin to start peeling right above the windshield and as time goes on,it only gets worse,so you will need a paint job as well.If anyone has any of these issues, camshaft, serpentine belt, engine ,break light and paint issues, call the corporate officer because some of these issues should be free of charge and have recalls on them.Hopefully you will get someone assigned to you that will help take care of some,if not all of your needs,I DIDN'T. my 2016 sonata limited only has a noise problem with the lock window button rattling 🙄 it shakes like crazy when the radio is turned up and drives me insane
Omg mine was driving me insane!!! It took me months to figure out exactly what it was. It’s my passenger side and it was My window “up-down” button. If I barely roll the window down just a smidge, it stops.

Hi my 2016 sonata door sill illuminated plates are not working but all other interior lights do; should I replace the fuse altogether?
Yes
Just bought Hyundai Sonata SE. Had the problem in the steering column fixed yet I still hear a noise while backing out of my garage.
Surprised didn't mention engine seizures.
I have 2015 Sonata, and I am not aware of any issues you mentioned in the video. If a car is well maintainance then you will not have any major but minor issues.
have you had any issues with the sonata burning oil?
@@Anonymous-ji4sb i have a 2016 and the low level is constantly low. did you find a way to fix the problem?
@@andrewd5135 Engine replacement. Its under warranty. My 2013 Optima was out of warranty and using 3 quarts between changes. They replaced it for free.
Change the oil at 3k miles with full synthetic and check the dip stick once a week to make sure it's not burning too much. All GDI engines burn oil more than other engines.
I have a 2015 Sonata SE with 270K miles... still running like a champ and no oil burning
2016 Hyundai Sonata sport the hood will not open. The table is broken. Can you tell me a good way of one to thrill to unlatch that and it looks like the alarm is right there in front of lever very difficult situation.
Have a 2015 Sonta andradio quit working can't fin3 fuse for it help!
Did you check your oil level? Sounds like your oil level is low.
Check the oil level when he stoped hard he pulled the oil in the oil pan away from the sensor that shows you have a low oil condition. Also check the connection to the sensor to make sure it is tight and not damaged.
No. 1 should have been the crazy oil consumption issue; 2015 Sport non turbo
Stay away from hyundai
Mine is awesome. Just did 3000 mile trip in it
@jay Coleman how (if you don't mind my asking) did it go with the with the dealer?
As you mention I have a Acceleration problem. I have a 2016 Hyundai Sonata what should I do? What is your best recommendations?
13 sonata hybrid currently has 222k miles original engine trans and hyb battery/system
I have a 2015 Sonata thats giving me a low light warning. My bulb is good, how can I fix this problem.
Thanks.
I have a 2017 and today it won't start. Can't find the fuel safety switch. But I'm lining to the timing belt. Would that be covered by Hyundai
I have a 2015 Sonata and the engine blew when it had 86 thousand miles and still had warranty.
I have 2 problems with my 2016 Sonata: steering gets notchy when on the highway - very fatiguing, and accelerator is not smooth - it has a step function, accelerating fast from a stop when you just want a smooth action.
Try doing a transmission fluid change. A few people have done so and they have had no problems after with accelerating
Great channel (just subscribed) and I wish this vid would have been out before I bought my 2018 Sport Turbo. Speaking of which:
I'm a little surprised that there's no mention of the major engine issues this car is having.
I use a 2015 Sonata sport 2.0T and recently noticed oil mixed with the coolant...any idea what the problem might be
Do these problems you are discussing in this video have any reference to the 2019 sonata plug-in hybrid? I know it has a different engine arrangement.

Wow, why would anyone put up with these types of issues? Just buy a better built vehicle from a proven manufacturer. Peace of mind is priceless.
Does the hybrid version s have those same issues~?
I want the 2015 the korean version of LPG, do you think this is and reliable and durable car? or should i take the ford focus sedan 2015 automatic with automatic trans?
I have a 2016 sonata and has been a super reliable car. You’d take a big L with the focus.
Ford has recently had a really bad reputation, I would stick with Hyundai, which is on an upward trend of reliability
that ford may frustrate you in the long run. i have two friends that will attest to that. they both owned a
focus
Wait? What do they do to fix poor eceleration? Is it a transmission prob?
Does this also go for the Eco model?
2016 sonata sport... Acceleration lags... Seems like a common problem with these vehicles.
I actually do have issues with acceleration my question is is it something that will be more than 100$ im asking cause i need to know to use my warranty or not
You need a vcm
If it's the p1326 code your engine should be replaced free of charge.
@@DominusDionysos I have p1326 issue with my hyundai sonata 2018
My 2015 Hyundai Sonata Eco has that
Acceleration problem in the engine taps sometimes and pressing the gas pedal
