Came here from your Twitter page and in an instant decided you were the best Nigerian car reviewer I've seen. Keep up the great work. And oh, please check the mic. I strained to hear you talk.
No doubt the 2015 Sonata is the better car here if you're going for speed, trim and newer features. It has more horsepower and torque over the camry and better looks as well. However, buying a car in Africa, especially in Nigeria can never be for the speed - you have to buy what's durable and we know that clearly is the Toyota. Their build quality is much better. Their chassis is stronger. The sonata will probably replace gearbox like 3 times when the Toyota is now getting started. Engine casting and mounting is with much better alloy. A Toyota with a faulty engine is a Sonata that just came out of the production line. The winner is Toyota! Any day!
Hi there! Thank you so much for this insight. Why do you think, though, that durability should be atop one’s list when buying a car in Nigeria, please?
@@ridewithmiee Three things. 1. The economy of the average working class in Nigeria doesn't allow for unplanned spending. You don't want to wake up one day and there's a light on your dashboard so the car won't move. Unless in extreme cases, a Toyota will run fine for a couple of weeks before you get a problem checked out. 2. Bad road network. The sonata has a lower ground clearance as compared to the Toyota and with Nigeria's bad roads, you don't want your underbody scraping. Vibrations in the car causes panel gaps and just like other Hyundai sedans, you'd notice the car steady getting uglier everyday from scratches in the paint job and sounds from loose mechanical parts due to the rigorous ride. Other mechanical parts too sometimes rub against each other which can be fatal to passengers. I could go on and on about how bad roads affect a cars life but I'm sure you know that already so in this case, build quality matters which the Toyota is the better option. Although this is not a durability verdict, the last point is; 3. Resell value. The Sonata is only expensive when it's new. After a couple 100 miles, customers would pay a premium for the Camry cos it has a history of being a reliable pre-owned car. You can't say same for the Sonata or Hyundai sedans in general especially if the previous owner used the car in regions with bad roads like Nigeria.
@@ridewithmiee Agreeing with @castern charger here. Speed is mostly irrelevant on Nigerian roads. There are very few roads you can even attempt 260 km/h without instantly risking your life or at the very least cooking your tires so the top speed doesn't matter much. Many people also don't have access to Hyundai certified auto shops so you will be cursing your luck everytime something breaks in your Sonata and you need to visit the mechanic (and something will be breaking often cos build quality is poor)
The sonata is obviously the better car. Reliability is just one aspect of a car. I feel like people misuse that word a lot, if you take care of your car properly reliability then you’re good. The Camry looks worse especially from the front and no Apple car play or android auto .
To add, on this Hyundai Sonata, you can open the trunk with no touch activation (Smart Trunk). Position within the detection area behind the vehicle with the smart key in proximity, and the vehicle trunk will pop open after three beeps. Great when you have other things in your hands. This 2.0T Limited trim has the tech package with exciting features like Rear Parking Assist, Blind Spot Detection (BSD), Lane departure warning system, Smart Cruise Control using the black radar in front of the vehicle, and Auto Hold feature. For top speed, yes, the 2.0T has 245 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque which kicks in at around 1350 - 4500 rpm. The sonata will not do 260km/h, governed at 155mph≈250km/h. (I can't find any documentation to back this claim)
Every time you’re doing video with this guy you always choose the best car and the guy will choose nonsense 😂😂😂😂how can one compare 2015 sonata to 2015 Camry..even the owner of that Camry will leave it for sonata 😂..Toyota is known for its boring looks and interior design that is why the upgraded their designs in Lexus..even a 2020 Toyota Camry can’t even beat this 2015 sonata let’s be realistic..this sonata speaks luxury ..the features alone is top notch...leave speed first and consider luxury and Benz comfort in a sonata😂😂..that is amazing..my vote goes to the sonata...
The Sonata is a great looking car, but Camry is an easy winner for me as I did own one for over three years. V6 over turbo 4's any day. I had a black on black 2015 XSE V6 that I bought new in 2015. My brother bought the car as I upgraded to a 2016 Lexus GS350 F-Sport.
Great comparison.👍 As regards to top speed, to be frank with you, Japanese saloon cars are not speed demons, so their suspensions are made too soft(even the sport trims), and aerodynamics are no where near the Germans in terms of drag co-efficient. So the ride will become extremely floaty at speeds above 180km/hr and the vehicle will be very difficult to maneuver. Even a 2cm water puddle can displace the car. Don’t even try swerving to dodge anything at 160km/hr, stability could be lost even with stability control on. Lexus ISF and Honda civic type R,Yaris GR and a few others were made exceptionally track worthy…but u see these Camrys, sonatas…just leave ur top speed at 180km/hr. So I don’t see it as a winning point though.😊 I love how Hyundai and Kias add features like parking sensors..very vital.
