    The Hyundai Sonata (Korean: 현대 쏘나타) is a mid-size car produced by the South Korean manufacturer Hyundai since 1985. The first generation Sonata was introduced in 1985, which was a facelifted Stellar with an engine upgrade, and was withdrawn from the market in two years due to poor customer reactions.[2] While the original was only sold in South Korea, with limited exports to Canada and New Zealand,[3] the second generation of 1988 was widely exported.[4][5]
    Originally internally coded as LFA, the 2015 Sonata was unveiled in Korea late March 2014,[61] and was unveiled in America at the 2014 New York International Auto Show. While the previous model incorporated significant aesthetic changes and sold successfully within the U.S, sales in Korea failed to meet expectations. A more conservative approach was thus taken, to appease the Korean market, resulting in Fluidic Sculpture 2.0. The car inherits many styling features from Hyundai's Hyundai HCD-14 Concept unveiled at the 2013 New York International Auto Show. The car also takes interior and exterior styling based on the 2015 Hyundai Genesis. In Australia and New Zealand, Hyundai have reverted to the use of the Sonata badge, replacing the i45 badge that was used only on the sixth generation Sonata in that market.[62] Expedition Money LLC

    I had a 2015 Hyundai Sonata I just traded it in a about two weeks ago, it was the first car I have ever bought brand new. It was a great car with a little bit of kick to it, definitely accelerated faster than a Toyota Camry maybe not as smooth and luxurious as an Accord. This car was a simple car that had the speed when i needed to pass somebody, it didn't waste much gas. If you wan't a simple reliable car that will get you from point A to B then the Sonata is a great choice. By the way this thing did great in the snow for me with the stock tires on it.
    Lets stop all this nonsense bitching about accent trims and leather wrapped steering wheels and shapes. blah blah blah if you really want a super fancy car with all that crap then go buy a luxury brand car so you can get those things, don't buy a Hyundai Sonata and expect Mercedes grade aesthetics on it.

    I don’t know what this guys is talking about. I’ve had a 2015 sonata for a while and it’s a great car. Putting the key in the ignition is not even a problem. He makes it seam like these cars are
    uncomfortable in many ways but I think the opposite. Me getting in and out of my sonata every day can tell you it’s very comfortable and I absolutely love it in every way.

    I bought a 2015 Sonata SE last year right as it came off of a lease. Are there things about it that I don't like? Well, yeah, there definitely are- but I paid $14,000 for a car with less than 40,000 miles on the odometer, some factory warranty left, and it averages 33mpg on my daily commute.
    There are things I wish Hyundai had done differently, and there are features I wish I my base model had that the higher trims have. That said, I cannot recommend these cars enough- they honestly make Camrys feel cheap and outdated.
    Oh, and +Peter von Panda the "wheel alignment" check that you complain about is an optional setting. You can turn it off in the settings tab of the instrument cluster.

  • @mikewingate284
    @mikewingate284 7 лет назад +7

    Oh, I forgot to mention that you need to select "ECO" on the Drive Mode button on the center console to improve your gas mileage. I average about 28 mpg with a combination hwy/city driving while running the AC. In the winter, I get about 30 mpg not running the AC. If you average 19.8 mpg, you are probably a little heavy on the throttle taking off, or are one of those drivers that tap the brakes a lot, or drive in a herky jerky mode. You probably don't even realize you are doing it.

    I have the real base model SE. You have a package, or you wouldn't have the back-up camera. I decided it wasn't worth the extra $1500 to get the upgrade. I am 6'1", and have plenty of head/leg room. I think you may need to lower your seat a bit. That will probably cause you to lower your steering wheel too. Get the height you want, then adjust the wheel. I agree with the placement of the clock...not a fan, but it's a small thing for me since I am pretty aware of time. I also agree with the blue ambient cabin light. I love the light, but would like a small blinder on it to hide the LED itself. Funny thing is that one of the things you hate the most, I love. That's the LED driving lights. I like the separation, and think it makes it look sportier, and a bit higher end than a solid light would look. I guess its all personal preference. The thing I hate the absolute most was the lack of a spare tire and jack. I ended up buying those after market.

    Thank you for a great review!. I love the detail, especially the analysis of the appearance. What style feature caught my eye when I was looking for a new car in 2016, was the solid metal chrome plated door handles. I felt that it gave the car a classy look. What caused me to actually buy the car, was the battery guarantee. Previously, I had a Prius which when the battery fails would cost more than $4000 to replace. Hyundai guarantees the battery as long as I own the car. So, I bought it new in 2016. It is a Sonata SE hybrid and it has accumulated 65k miles. It runs fine, gets an average of 40 mpg, and doesn't burn oil. Since this review was made, many Hyundai engines have self-destructed and had to be replaced. So far my Sonata has not had a problem. I love that it is reliable, has a 6 speed transmission that is not a CVT, gets excellent gas mileage, and has a roomy interior. What I don't like is the direct fuel injection system and the concern about the engine's reputation for eating its bearings.

      Im looking for it because of recall issues I have read. Some problem with vehicle burning through oil and causing engine problems but no one has evidence to back it up. All I can imagine is poor maintenance.

    Your gas mileage is really weird. In the city I get 25 and 38 on the highway. Maybe need a engine cleaning !

      If your looking to buy a vehicle it is good to do as much research as one can. I mean unless you can afford repairs and what not with ease. If your not concerned about mechanical expenses then go with german vehicles(not saying they breakdown easy, just they have expensive parts in the states). I recommend the BMW 328i

    So much on the clock and nothing on the reliability, braking, steering, etc. Besides of the radio stations/songs names, everything else you say is subjective

      I test drove both, and the older model is considerably smaller inside, and some really bad design choices all over. The 2015 is definitely an upgrade over all.
