  • I am so excited to announce that I got a Harvest Right Freeze Dryer! It was a Christmas gift from my family and I already have so many plans! This is the Medium Pro and I think it will be the perfect size for our family. Follow along as I take you through my first time opening everything, setting it up, cleaning it and running a test batch. It has already been lots of fun and aside from a hiccup with the door seal, it went really smooth. After years of watching other people use theirs I feel like the possibilities for this machine are endless! If you have a freeze dryer, please share any of your favorite things to freeze dry! I would love to try new things.
    I plan to share as I preserve my garden harvests and so much more in this machine so stay tuned for more videos in the future. Thanks for watching!

    Thank you for taking the time to be through in your video. You answered a lot of questions that I had about the freeze dryer. The first being, I did not know that you could remove the tray compartment. Great job.

      Thanks for watching! And yes taking the tray compartment out makes cleaning so much easier 😊

      Me too! It has been so much fun playing around with it and I hope I can get another video up before little garden helper #2 arrives! Right now the family favorite is freeze dried peaches. Yum!

      I'm so excited to see what I can preserve from the garden this year too! I've already done a handful of the peaches I froze from last year and they were SOOOOO GOOD! I can't wait to see what they taste like when I process them from fresh picked peaches. It adds another level of excitement for this year's harvest season!

    You should see a seal all the way around the seal at all times when the door is closed. Need to pull the seal away from the machine towards the door a bit to achieve this.

      Thanks! I was able to fix it after adjusting the door a bit. I recorded a video showing what I did and how/why the adjustment worked but lost the footage 😬. Thankfully I haven’t had a problem with the seal since.

    Can you please share the video that helped u fix the seal? I’m facing the same problem I can’t get a proper seal to get a vacuum.

    Where did you get the cart from? I would like to get one like that for my new harvest right freeze dryer!!

    • @herhomeandharvest
      @herhomeandharvest  2 месяца назад +1

      I really like this cart! It still feels very sturdy even with the wheels I bought for it. It’s so sturdy I don’t know if the lip along the edge is necessary but it makes me feel more comfortable when I’m wheeling it around. Here is the link to where I bought mine: www.webstaurantstore.com/regency-24-x-36-16-gauge-stainless-steel-equipment-stand-with-galvanized-undershelf/600ES2436G.html?dlid=24087376<id=24

      @@herhomeandharvest Thank you, another question. What wheels did you purchase to put on it?

    • @herhomeandharvest
      @herhomeandharvest  2 месяца назад +1

      @@hollybarrutia4488 I purchased the ones WebstaurantStore said would be compatible. They’re a bit pricey but they fit perfectly and have a really high weight capacity. www.webstaurantstore.com/regency-5-heavy-duty-swivel-stem-casters-for-work-tables-and-equipment-stands-set/600CASTERHD4.html?dlid=24087376<id=24

    Can I test run with something other than bread? I have celiac and I’m not going to contaminate this machine. And gf bread is way too expensive to waste.

    • @herhomeandharvest
      @herhomeandharvest  11 дней назад +1

      @@unnamed2737 I don’t see why not. I would call harvest right and see if they have anything in particular that they recommend but maybe something like oatmeal would work? The idea is that the test food would absorb any possible manufacturing smell and also show whether or not your machine is working. I can’t imagine you’d be the first person to ask given how many people have gluten allergies or sensitivities.

    • @unnamed2737
      @unnamed2737 11 дней назад +1

      @@herhomeandharvest if I can just use any throwaway food then that shouldn’t be hard. I just didn’t know if there was something specific to bread for why they recommend it. Thanks!

    • @herhomeandharvest
      @herhomeandharvest  10 дней назад

      @@unnamed2737 I think the bread is probably better than other foods at absorbing smells which is why I think something like oatmeal might work. Bread is also typically uniform in size which would help you know if something was wrong with one of your trays whereas if you used something in all sorts of sizes it might be harder to tell what was causing a problem (if you had one).
