- Опубликовано: 30 май 2021
- This is a very long winded video showing and explaining my Harvest Right Large Freeze Dryer set up an almost all of the accessories I use to prep food, freeze dry food and then package that food for storage. Some storage is short term and some is long term. Please let me know what you think or if you have any suggestions that might help me out. Thanks for watching.
Of all of the FD videos, this was the most useful. It has helped me so much. I just ordered a FD and have set myself up with these additional items. Thank you so much. Here's looking at a successful FD year !
I absolutely love this set up. It's extremely well organized and functional. Hopefully one day when I can afford a FD I can use some of your tips. Thanks for sharing.
I love a lot of the ideas, especially the tip for the three fans! I have one point at the pump, but the second one sucking the warm air out of the unit itself is absolutely GENIOUS!!!
Thank you for sharing so much inspiration and efficiency. I love it.
Love the set up. Very organized!
Tipp: most measuring cups come with milliliter marks. With these you safe yourself the trouble converting the grams in to liquid oz.
1 g water equals 1 ml water. So for your example with 95 g you need to measure 95 ml. (That’s 100% accurate for water)
Great video! I just ordered a large freeze dryer, I cannot wait to get started. Thank you for all the helpful information.
I mounted my fan on the wall so it blows down on top of my vacuum pump so that it provides equal air flow on both sides. Note that the rear of the pump has a built-in fan. The front half is where it gets hot.
Excellent tips. Thank you.
I am planning to put a freeze dryer on layaway. This set up will be great for the space I have to use for the dryer once I have it. Thank you for posting this.
It doesn't get much better than this!
I just got the same model you have. Thank you very much for all the information.
This was SO helpful for a newbe like me! Thank you so much.
Very organized with great comments on workspace. Thank you!
Excellent video. I have not yet purchased the freeze dryer but I am saving for it. I've watched several videos on set ups and realized that I can't put it where I want it so your set up looks good to me. Thanks you !
I love your video . This is very helpful info. Thank you for taking the time to share what you have learned!!
Amazing set up
Thank you for the detailed description of your setup. Gives me lots of great ideas.
Excellent tips and organizing ideas!!! Thank you!!!
Very well done. Great ideas and love your organization. Tons of ideas I have not seen before in getting started with freeze drying as well as ideas on how to rehydrate.
Absolutely wonderful. I haven’t got my HR yet but have started planning the set up. Your video will help tremendously.
Thank you.
enjoyed peeking inside your Man Cave - very cool - THANKS
Really great setup. The best I have seen.
Looks like to me you have a nice setup. Thank you for sharing!
Thank you for sharing, your video was very well thought out and I love your set up
Very helpful information. Nicely organized video, process explanation, and shop. Thank you.
This is great. Thank you for putting this video together.
Very impressed with your organization.
Thanks for the great tips!
Wow! You have an excellent workstation set up here. Thanks for sharing.
Great set-up & accessories. I definitely would be more productive with a better organized like yours. Love the banana slicer. Those take me forever, and it's hard to get everything uniform. Oh, and love the scooper you made! Genius! I think I'll try making one too. Oragami is fun. 😁Thanks so much for sharing! 👏
Just got my freeze dryer last month. I have mine set up the same as yours. Thanks for sharing, always looking for advice.
Great video enjoyed it!
I use the bag spreaders for some of my freezing. Here is what I have found. First of all the entire contraption is too light. Glue some ballast to the bottom of it. I had some flat steel that I screwed to the bottom, does wonders for stability while filling. Second, the bag holders are frankly crap. I use a pair of plastic clothespins instead. After doing that the bagger is great.
Thanks for sharing, love the stuff you've put together. Still just doing research for my FD when I purchase it so this info will come in handy.
Very well thought out. Thank you for the tips. Love your voice. New subscriber.
Those black containers from walmart actually fit the small fd trays perfectly x 3. I can put 1 can of soup in each and freeze pop them out and 3 fit perfectly on the small tray. My only complaint is the lids sometimes are a little finicky to get off.
Could you add the links to purchase the items/tools?
Avery for labels, amazon, walmart, for the rest.
wow, great video, I just ordered my freeze dryer, so much to learn, thank you, will use this info a lot. How cold can the room be, I live upstate NY and it gets really cold
My machine should arrive in a week or so & I have been looking for how people have theirs set up. Thank you for sharing.
Waiting for my medium freezer to be built (I assume). HR said 2-8 weeks for delivery :(
If you don't mind me asking... what was your wait time when you purchased?
@@frodrickfronkensteen9241 I was quoted 12 weeks wait time and it showed up in less than 2 weeks from the day I ordered it.
you might want to add pastry bags and a couple cake decorating tips to make 'drops' for your snacks. I'm going to use one to make small fruit snacks for a friend's baby.
thanks for the vid
Nice setup
I’m going to try riveting my funnel instead of tape
Hard to clean with rivets?
Awesome!
I have the Medium Freeze dryer and the Premier Pump i put a fan on my pump it is still to hot to touch and the only time i don't get the warning about the freeze dryer with high Temp is if i run the Air Conditioner in my room.
Nice vid - thank you for taking the time this is very helpful. :)
Dude, you need to get more organized .....lol Thanks for the amazing video, just purchased a Med HR. Thanks for the awesome video. Peace from Detroit MI
Wood a dust pan for floors work for the scooper? Obviously use a brand new one. I think they have smaller ones that aren't quite so wide.
Install a flip down counter over that freezer for more workspace maybe
Good job!
We're do you get your tray liners from?
Theres a scoop that's like a fry scoop they use at fast food joints on Amazon about $13
Do you have to put the pump at the same table top level as the freeze dryer box?
I have very limited area in my house and I want to build a 'tower' rack so the dryer will be at eye level but the pump will be below it, and I can store the other accessories/tools/supplies for freeze-drying.
Thanks for sharing
Could you use a vacuum sealer instead of the mylar bags with oxygen absorbers and heat sealing?
how do you keep the dust/dirt from coming into our out building? It doesn't look like you are worried about mice coming in and getting into your stuff either. Would be great if you did a video of your 12x20 out building. I would like to understand how you built it. Thank you for showing all the accessories that you have already flushed out!!
Absolutely love your set up, may I ask, did you build the workbench that the FD unit sits on? I love that the totes are so handy and well organized. I’d say just about perfect!
Wow that work area is a thing of beauty. What kind of AC Unit do you have! I have my freeze dryer in my upstairs laundry room but it gets a little warm and in CA it costs a fortune running the AC for the whole house so I'm thinking of buying those single room AC units for bedrooms and the laundry room when running my freeze dryer. Appreciate any advice. Thanks!
nice set up.. just goes to show you.. your never done buying stuff for the freeze dryer.
Did u mention the size of freeze dryer? Medium?? Large??
I have a large.
Popcorn scoop works perfect instead of homemade plastic scoop
Great video and set up, but I’m curious about clean up? I don’t see a water source. How do you clean up your area after bagging?
What type of power monitor are you using?
With the exception of the stacker clips this is a video of the things you don't need for freeze drying. I was not aware they made banana shaped banana slicers. Do they make a larger version for plantains?
You may have already answered this question. I’m not on a PC. Can you reply with the manufacturer of the bags?
Is that an air bladder under the freeze dryer at the 15:52 mark? What are the blocks ofd wood for?
Thanks
Can you please tell me how much weight, meat with sauce, each tray for a large harvest right freeze dryer can hold. I loaded to top of tray but very heavy. Total weight of tray and food was 7.34 lbs. Times 5 trays, too much?
Dude, links would make this video so much better.
can you put those black plastic containers or clear plastic inside the freeze dryer?
Maybe I missed it. What brand scale do you uave
Great setup. Where did you get the label that you put on the bags? The one that has the item, weight, and if it's raw, cooked, or blanched?
I made them on Avery's web site. It's free then I just print them on labels at home.
@@inmyfreetime8496 Do you know what size they are? There are so many to choose from and yours look like the perfect size
@@tammyseegmiller233 i typically use Avery 2” x 4” labels.
@@inmyfreetime8496 Thank you so much
Wow! You obviously have a lot of "free time"!
Can you use a Food Saver to pull the air out and seal the mylar bags?
Yes, but might crush delicate food.
I just got mine few days ago side damaged. Well already finding out all the trays don't heat the same. People are using foil all over the inside. Now it keeps saying shut valve n its definitely shut!! So I defrosted defrosted thinking maybe something frozen it open. After restarted to wait the 15 min start up hears a loud bang n smelled like fire ya no way its going right back to store. If they don't take it I will leave it n dispute with my credit card company
Now it's causing me to look into just a oven vacuum
Is stay fresh still a company?
Is the deep freeze on the same circuit as the freeze dryer, meaning when you turn the breaker off that allows power to one of them it cuts the power to both of them? If so, how many amps is the deep freeze? Thanks man
The freeze dryer needs it's own dedicated circuit and if it is a large then it needs a 20amp outlet.
@@infinity.1.0 I know,I had a problem right right out of the box with mine but I traced down the problem and fixed it, the ribbon cable that connects the touch screen to the main circuit board was not even plugged in to the main circuit board. Hopefully I don't have any more problems with it. Thanks
@@lorenbush8876 We had the same problem with the ribbon cable.
Can you connect this to a clothes dryer???? Because of the 20 amp issue ⚠️⚠️⚠️⚠️
Clothes dryers are typically 240v, freeze dryer is 120v, maybe use one leg of 240v circuit. Can't use clothes dryer though when freeze drying. I'm not an electrician.
@@starkenterprises2371 I thought the large sized FD used a 240; the other two sizes use the 120...
Is this the small or medium freeze dryer?
He said early on his trays were large, so the FD would be large
Why are you getting an upright freezer over an chest freezer for your pre freezing?
He's not using upright freezer for drying.
Probably because it allows for easier access. Chest freezers make it hard to get to things at the bottom whereas an upright has shelves that are very easy to use.
@@starkenterprises2371 at time of video he was planning on getting a vertical (upright) deep freeze.
Has anyone you know has have their food FD have a terrible terrible medal or oil tast in thir done food its done it all 8 times that I've used it please help if you can. Thankyou
Z
Dude, I sort of envy your setup, but you are SERIOUSLY OCD.
