More elderly volunteers stepping up to care for others in the community

- Some organisations are seeing more seniors in Singapore step up as volunteers. Their role involves reaching out to those who live alone or those who are caregivers of other seniors. But with Singapore set to attain "super-aged" status in three years, these organisations also say that it will take more than the efforts of volunteers to help seniors age in the community.

It is indeed a bitter pill for many elderly Singaporeans who had stood by the country patriotically during their younger days to be hearing that Temasek’s portfolio has grown from S$90 billion to S$300 billion under the leadership of Ho Ching when the majority of their CPF saving had remain stagnant, barely struggling to stay capital-positive after adjusting for inflation.
While the CEO-designate may be overly eager to give his former boss a glowing accolade, he has unwittingly throw salt on the wounds of the working class.
Don't worry about it, the pap party have money to employ a lot of caregivers..

Whoever claims that the elderly wants to retire and enjoy life doing nothing are really ignorant and brainless. 👍👍The most active and voluntary ones are related to the ruling party PAP while the unscrupulous ones are related to the others.
The Singapore government recently announced in the Budget 2023 that it will increase the minimum monthly payout for the Retirement Sum Scheme (RSS) from S$250 to S$350 starting 1 June 2023, as part of the effort to boost retirement adequacy.
However, the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy (LKYSPP) at National University of Singapore published a survey finding in 2019 that an older Singaporean above 65 years old would need S$1,379 a month to meet his or her basic needs, living decently in Singapore.
Why not employ maids for them?
Better than being relegated to make shift facilities.
If DPM Wong is serious about the courage to change, he only has to look at the system that facilitated the Parti Liyani-Liew Mun Leong-Karl Liew case. It gives him the impetus to address stratification and safety nets for the poor, the elderly, the little people, the helpless ones who do not have anybody watching their backs.
So let’s not be fooled when they talk about priorities and change. Priority for who? Change to what? As long as priorities for the elites take precedence over priorities for the ordinary citizens, as long as priorities are misplaced and self-serving, there is no change.
