This belt got me back to squatting as I sustained lower back injuries. Every gym should have this. Bought mine over 10yrs ago and not a single stitching has come out. Worth every penny.
I have used the supersquat belt with good results. I fabricated a pulley hip belt platform for the maximum range of motion. I still do barbell squats, but I use the hip belt squat as an auxiliary full squat exercise for high reps. It’s perfect for working through the burn with good form with minimum impact on the lower back. I think as a senior citizen, I would recommend this exercise to my fellow senior citizens. The exercise will be beneficial in strengthening the legs to minimize the risk of falls.
+jshealy Used to be. Now it's just overpriced junk compared to plenty other fine companies offering the SAME THING at a fraction of Randall's prices.. :P Only people with disposable income have ANY real reason to buy from IronMind, anymore!
Smh all the ppl bashing or making fun of this have no idea what they’re talking about...this is THEE hip belt squat device and can be rigged and used in a variety of ways...but is the only that will enable you to do barbell hip belt squats (with infinite progression no less) the same way as prescribed by John McCallum himself, and it’s really not complicated to use either
Exactly I think the only problem is the price. This product offers a rear clip and sturdy barbell attachments and thats great but those are just 2 simple things missing from a belt you can get anywhere for much cheaper. I’m gonna look into ways to add a rear clip but if I cant find any i might just buy this
@@kayots I can understand the higher price tag being a deterrent for folks. I’m working with a limited budget but I don’t regret paying more and having a more versatile tool, I’m able to experiment and change it up with any version of hip belt squats I want and while many seem to overlook or be quick to give up on it before getting the hang of it I always tend to come back to the traditional barbell variety, and it’s the only belt that enables this. It’s also super comfortable, and this goes for using it for dips and chins, calf work etc, and it’s not slinging and sliding around and this is def better for smaller waisted ppl, this is all just my personal take and experience but I never hesitate to recommend this belt to anyone
I've used a T-bar attaching the daisy chain behind the plates. Same principle, stand on blocks on either side of the bar before attaching belt and squat. Balance isn't as much of an issue, slightly different training effect as well.
Ah, I never saw this before. I've been running Super Squats for a while now, say a little over a couple of months, and just bought a safety squat bar because holding a bar in place for sets that were taking over two minutes under a heavy load was just killing my arms and shoulders, hahah.
This is freaking amazing in terms of hip and leg recruitment. They do somewhat of a variation at westside barbell so you know theres something to this! absolute zero spinal load so all the tension of the weight is placed into hips and quads and let me tell you if you can get up to doing 300lbs for 10 reps you can easily squat 500+ pounds guaranteed.
This belt has been very difficult to use for me, it still hurts my lower back when i use it. i use light weight and it's still just uncomfortable all around.
Just get a dip belt and throw some plates or a dumbbell on the chain. If you can't load enough weight on that way load up a landmine and tie your chain to that
Louie simmons says his westside hip belt helps correct hip alignment does hit front and back loaded belt also help with that when it's got weight loaded from front and back links or from the front only?? I have only ever used a spud inc belt on a pit shark machine and felt my hip muscles felt very tight like they were pulling back in proper alignment :/ this ironmind belt looks like a pain in the ass to put on and off compared to the spud but the only advantage i can see with it is using it on a hex bar so it makes bar setup quick and easy. otherwise if i was going to use a landmine or single weight pin coming from a single chain off the belt I would just go a westside or spud inc belt instead of this. any feedback from anyone would be good gracias.
+Bas Haren i already pinched for a safety squat bar. i don't have any REAL injuiries that prevent me from squatting. i just wanted to give my tendonitis/shoulders a break from bar positioning. ive used. hip belt machine before. wasnt totally SOLD on the movement. i DO think this belt is way overpriced though. i don't think a dip belt is equal though in terms of usability. a dip belt will push your hips forward more from the chain resting on your thighs. i think the hip belt machine is better. but... if i were to do it id just rig something up with some nylon slings and an old lifting belt to distribute the weight to both sides of my body (front and back)
JV Training I understand , did you read my review comment in the comment section? I will keep it short. 1 It's worthless. 2 Can't even half squat with it 3 The belt hurts your hips / lowerback 4 It's a pain in the ass. 5 The setup is awefull 6 If you do insist in doing these type of squats do yourself a favour and get a dipbelt. A simple dipbelt wil work way better then this piece of shit. I did these squats with a normal dipbelt. I never used the '''super'' worthless squat belt i threw it in the trash worst 350 dollar worst disapointment. After i tried it for 10minutes. You are lucky i was just checking if people wanted to buy this to warn them. Get the Spud inch squat belt you wil love it. Also i like to ruine asmuch business of these greedy slime bags as i can.
If you like to do the movement where you emulate back squats.......build a platform with the weights underneath. That way you can position your feet however you want them and the 45lb plates won't get in the way, not to mention bang into your legs.
+Bad Dog ^ This, quite high with the weights on another shallow platform that can be wheeled away via rope and pulleys. Like unracking the bar before you squat, I set it up in my squat rack.
I have this belt and it's very bothersome to put on and off, I been looking at the spudinc one because it seems as you can just put it on and off without tying straps and having a hard time leveling yourself on a bar.
I have had my belt for years. No need to tighten the belt to your waist as shown in this video. Tighten the belt only once to fit over your hips enough that you can slip in and out of the belt without having to adjust each time you do squats. I have not adjusted my belt in years. Don't use the carabiners. If you get stuck at the bottom you may have a difficult time un-buckling carabiners. I replaced mine with cheap 'S' hooks from hardware store. I can slip the chain links off of the 'S' hooks without having to unlatch anything. I use a cheap Walmart easy-curl bar which holds the chain loops in the angled part of the bar and the loops do not slip as they might on a straight bar. Do these things and you will find that the setup for squats is much quicker, as least as quick as the setup for back squats.
Wouldn’t it be just easier to do a Jefferson Lift, straddling the bar, one hand holding in front and the other holding behind you? It would eliminate any lower back pressure or danger of getting stuck under the bar and would be way more stable, not to mention more simple.
