    I was looking for a video to help me decide which straps to get and this was the first and only one I clicked on. From the perspective of someone who has been lifting a couple of years but never used straps before, this video was exactly what I needed and answered all my questions plus a couple I didn't even think of! Very concise and informative, thank you!

    one tip i have....if you have small wrists, avoid the straps with padding, at least the lassoo style, a lot of the padding is set in a way that prevents the strap from actually being able to lock tightly down on to your wrist...if you have small wrists

      what straps do you recommend ihave very small wrist

    • @Rev0UK1
      @Rev0UK1 4 месяца назад +1

      @@techtipsreview7567 any basic strap will work, just avoid ones that are advertised with padding
      It might feel more uncomfortable, but it will also allow you to lock the strap in much tighter, locking you on to the bar much better
      i've tried many straps and any that had the padding in the wrist area..all had the padding set to wide for my small wrists and it prevented getting the strap as tight as you'd ideally want it

    Great video i have been using open straps without even knowing it, but longer. modified. ive wonderd about figure eight but i want to be able to let go of the bar, especially the deadlift.

    I had a guy at the gym show me how to use a closed loop on my front squats to take the pressure from my wrists and still keep the bar under control. He took me from the point of stripping weights to do the movement, to adding. I'll still work on my front rack mobility, but this was a game changer.

    Enjoy your videos. What type of strap do you recommend when using Hammer machines such as the row and pull-down?
    Thx

    • @hortonbarbell
      @hortonbarbell  11 месяцев назад +4

      I would say whichever you’re most comfortable with. For me it would be a lasso strap. Although I would recommend only using straps with those machines when you REALLY need them so you can work your grip strength as well.

    • @hortonbarbell
      @hortonbarbell  9 месяцев назад

      Figure 8s are a little overkill for a Lat Machine. I’d just use a pair of lasso straps

    • @hortonbarbell

      I would just use a lasso strap for this, however, you shouldnt need straps for a majority of your back sets. Make sure you’re working on your grip strength as well

    you keep saying wrist but showing the strap on the hand(which is correct specifically for Oly lifts) also, closed strap is better wrapped between thumb and forefinger, not palm. for quick release purpose, but the hookgrip has a location, put the strap where you grip. ill admit though: wrapping under the palm looks cooler.
