  • In this video you can enjoy the cab ride - train drivers' view on Croatian Railways train between the capital of Croatia Zagreb and Split on the coast of the Adriatic see in 4K/60 frames per second, from Gračac to Split.
    Third part of the journey is on intercity tilting train (ICN), a Bombarier/AdTranz-built class 7123 (DB612) diesel multiple-unit as very limited local services exist beyond Oštarije (only to Plaški and then from Knin).
    Correction: at 2:19:38 MARJAN HILL is on the RIGHT side (green hill on the tip of Split peninsula), on the left side is KOZJAK HILL. Sorry for that mistake.
    Whole journey will take us from plains of central Croatia, through the forests of Gorski Kotar, plains of Lika then changing the scenery once again for Dalmatian hinterland and finally reaching the Adriatic Sea just northwest of Split.
    Many thanks to Zvonimir for helping me with the details of the video description. I really appreciate it.
    Sit Back, Relax, and Enjoy watching this FULL- length scenic rail trip video in 4K quality.
    This Relaxing Video is best watched on a 4K big-screen TV sitting on a cosy sofa or armchair.

      1) You could have pointed out the Dinara before Knin, after all it is the highest mountain in Croatia and can be seen from the railway line.

    Thank you very much for uploading this extraordinary video. I had no intention to watch the entire two and half hours, but I remained stuck in. It was stunning, absolutely.
    Betwen Gračac and Knin, a surrealistic journey on the best maintained ghost line of the word, connecting empty stations where the station masters are the last representatives of the extinct mankind.
    Knin is absolutely haunting, remnants of a once great, electrified junction.
    Drniš: the first living passenger! The sidings to the old quarry in a very good shape.
    Žitnić: I don't understand why the train arrived at Track No I, as this operation seemingly had no point but needed at least three men (and two cars for the signalmen).
    Unesić: the first fully functional signalling equipment, even the distant signal was in operative condition, and set properly.
    From Perković the line starts resembling to an operative railway. Two freight trains in opposite direction! A bunch of nicely refurbished grain hoppers at Solin. What are they used for? At Split-Predgrađe more Hungarian coaches visible than Croatians. And finally Split: quite ghetto feeling, a remarkable contrast with the decent poverty of the Gračac-Perković section, where people didn't waste their money and time to destroy other people's property.

    My brother is on holiday in both Split and Dubrovnik so I thought I'd follow the journey from Zagreb to Split to get a picture of what he may be seeing right now, the video clearly being taken in summery surroundings. This was very well put-together and the information given on the way was first-class. Having been on holiday thrice in the Czech Republic I like tracking down videos of rail journeys from there and one of the most interesting aspects is to guess where one is crossing over a watershed, the Czech Republic being in three basins - the Baltic Sea, the Black Sea and the North Sea. I followed this journey with my Times Atlas and I guessed that the very long tunnel at Sinac, featured in Part 2, might be the point at which the Black Sea basin was left behind and the Adriatic/Mediterranean Sea basin was entered. Is that correct?

      @@themazeLE Some people have issues with train tilting (causing them nausea), also it is a diesel train so there is pretty loud engine noise from engines under the floor. These trains are used in Germany on lines of max duration of 3-4 hours so they might not be comfortable enough for long trip like Zagreb-Split (6-6,5 hours). There is a trick to be in first compartment behind front cab as noise is much lower and tilting isn't as noticeable as in the rear part of the train.

    • @themazeLE
      @themazeLE Год назад +2

      I know them well enough here from Germany. In and of itself I like to go with diesel vehicles and for a limited period I also enjoy the soundscape of these railcars, but for several hours it is indeed not nice. Since I usually try to travel in 1st class, I will be automatically in the quieter zone.
      The tilting technology doesn't bother me, on the contrary.

      The night train Zagreb - Split and in the opposite direction used to run all year round and was well used even in spring and autumn. Since 2020 it has been limited to summer (July and August) (extended to Osijek since 2021), Corona was used as a reason for this. I can't quite understand that, I'm sure the train would certainly continue to be used by many people all year round. Now there is only one continuous connection per day between Zagreb and Split.

    Knin, ampiamente contesa tra croati e serbi. Le JZ avevano originariamente elettrificato a 25kv la linea che andava ad innestarsi sulla Zagreb-Beograd, attraverso la Bosnia. La creazione delle varie repubbliche separate ha reso questo collegamento praticamente inutile... Difatti gli impianti elettrici sono stati smantellati mentre ovviamente rimane la ferrovia per Zadar non elettrificata... con questo video ci si può rendere conto che con più di 300 km dalla capitale e un percorso a volte accidentato... i collegamenti in Croazia sono tutt'altro che facili. Noi italiani naturalmente ci lamentiamo di quello che abbiamo...Pula e tutta l'istria non hanno un collegamento diretto con Zagreb. Ma noi italiani ci lamentiamo sempre...

    Thanks this video!Én többet vártam ettől. Nem erre a lepusztult világra, ahol alakjelzők vannak. A táj sziklás, kopár. Nekem túl üres. Nincs villamosítva sem. Alagút alagút hátán. Nagyon messze van. Nem vágyom ide. Viszont a MÁV kocsik megleptek Szplitben. A felvétel jó volt, de szerintem aki nincs megelégedve a MÁV vonalaival menjen le ide. Az egy dolog. hogy ott a tenger. Engem az nem érdekel. Szóval nekem a megérkezés az Keleti pu és Nyugati pu. Nálam ez a szint. Nem pedig a végállomás, ami egy vidéki kisváros hazánkban. Még a Szegedi, Pécsi, Miskolci vagy Kaposvári állomás is szebb, nekem építészetileg is. A megérkezés nagyon fontos, hogy hova, milyen az épület. Bár én elfogult vagyok ezek szerint. Zágrábban(Zagreb Glavni Kolodvor) is a Pfaff Ferenc által tervezett, épített főpályaudvar ami tetszik.

      @ZvonimirZelenika Год назад +1

      Kao što se vidi (posebno u 2/3 dijelu) - instalirana je nova signalizacija na većem dijelu pruge no nije još u pogonu i to već traje predugo - sa time bi se brzine smjele podići preko 100km/h jer su dijelovi kroz Liku već tamo 2000-ih građevinski ispeglani čak za 160km/h. Također iz novog NPOO programa će se srediti kolodvori od Knina do Splita, pa sa poboljšanjima od Zagreba do Karlovca (radovi upravo počinju) te Karlovca do Oštarija (izgleda će ići nova pruga) mogli bi doći na planiranih 4,5 sata.

    • @damirko8644
      @damirko8644 Год назад +1

      JEDNO VELIKO DA.....pruga je prije 1990 bila elektrificirana od Zagreba do Knina ali dolinom Une....UNSKA PRUGA. Lička pruga nikad nije bila elektrificirana i tek nakon "Vlaka Slobode" je kompletno uređena.....zapravo kapitalni remont uz ispravljanje krivina od Perušića do Gračaca za brzine do 160 km/h i za osovinski pritisak od 25 tona-Zageab-Gračac, te 20 tona Gračac-Split (ugrađene šine UIC49 i UI 60 kg po dužnom metru). Od kapitalnog remonta krajem 90-tih do 2004. Lička pruga je imala dozvoljeni osovinsjki pritisak od 18 tona, tako da su po njoj vozile dizl lokomotive zvane "ličanka", osovinski pritisak 18 tona. Da bi se elektrificirala trebalo bi sve tunele povisiti barem za 1 metar da ima prostora za žice, a to je sada skupo.
      Već sam prije u drugom dijelu napisao da bi sada bilo dobro da HŽ kupi iste dizlmotorne vlakove koje danas imaju Slovenske željeznice "Stadler" švicarski proizvod, jer za pogon koriste elektro motore, nji 4 a dizl agregat daje sruju od 1 MW snage. Vozio sam se sa njima prije mjesec dana i vrlo su brzi na usponima od 25 promila, brzina im je ista kao kod elektromotornihvlakova. Bili bi ko naručeni za ovu prugu sa mnogo uspona da ih sada ne nabrajam.

    • @ZvonimirZelenika
      @ZvonimirZelenika Год назад +1

      Naravno da nije. Unska pruga je bila glavni smjer (preko Novske i Bihaća) prema jugu i ista je elektrificirana do Knina taman 1988. prije rata (vide se ostatci elektrifikacije na kolodvoru Knin (51:45 nadalje) i u planu je bio nastavak prema Splitu, dok je Lička pruga tada bila manje važnosti i ranga. Danas nema tu dovoljno niti prometa niti razloga za elektrifikaciju (glavna luka je ipak Rijeka i plan je izgradnja nove pruge prema Rijeci).
