I’m an ARMY brat. 13 yrs in Germany. What an absolutely beautiful woman. I feel honored to have listened to this very incredible story. I go to Jammu often due to my fiancé working at the Coke a Cola plant (largest plant in India) and the Pakistani people that I meet when I go there are just amazing and so loving and caring. Thank you to you for sharing this with a very thank you to your mom for coming on here and talking about some things so deep, emotional and just her story. What a strong beautiful woman. $20 in her pocket, foreign country alone, that right there just shows what an amazing woman. Thank her for having an amazing son and raising him correctly. I could listen to her stories all day. As she spoke you could just see that she was remembering everything and probably having flashes in her mind of what she went through at that time. I held it together and was kind of OK but when she started getting choked up talking about your older brother and leaving him I couldn’t hold it in anymore. I’m still sitting here choked up LOL. I cannot believe how strong she is. Not only leaving an abusive husband but leaving her child coming here with $20 to a foreign country in succeeding so hard.......She is truly a inspiration for women know just people.
The sad thing is is that mental illness is still such a taboo in Indian, Pakistani, Arabian, Asian cultures that to this day you still hear these type of stories like your mom is saying. The stigma is just crushing.

A lot of mothers are. She sacrificed a lot to have a better life. Many women do not have the chances to do what she did and many are terrified to do. She'll obviously raised 2 great sions! Please let her know that she's an inspiring woman and she gives me hope that I can continue to move forward and my son and I will be okay

Your mom is a true feminist, even if she wouldn’t view herself that way. She has both steely resolve and a big heart. I’m so happy that you and your brother - and the rest of your family have her. Sometimes we need a hero, so we have to become one. That’s your mom. We all owe her a debt of gratitude for her service to this country, (and her patients). Namaste!🙏🙏🙏
