I'm pretty sure most if not all the Kaldheim gods dont have any protection because If I'm not mistaken the Norse lore they are based on also didn't have immortality they just didn't age so they could still die
Yeah I was screaming kaldheim at the screen
I was just coming here to make the same comment
Immortality just means you don't age. It doesn't mean you can't be killed.
Anzrag is a Gruul god. Basically just a big animal that represents nature. So far of the two Gruul gods we’ve gotten it has a heavy “attack with me” theme that lends to the gruul play style. Is it a fancy god? No. But the Gruul aren’t fancy people.
The ad cut gave me whiplash😂
Small Gods - Terry Pratchett. Give it a read :D
Archdruid's Charm does it all. (in Commander)
3 mana instant speed creature tutor for Green is amazing.
3 mana instant speed nonbasic land ramp is busted.
3 mana bite isn't as impressive, but it's creature removal.
3 mana exile artifact or enchantment is sweet.
Every 1-2 color Green deck wants this
I’m gonna put it in my 3 color decks too because this is too good. Mana bases these days are almost perfect so it’s not that hard to do, especially with all the treasure stuff that’s in commander
Last time I was this early Richard was pricking Crim up from school
It seems like the Gruul clan will worship anything thats big and stompy enough, Illharg the Raze Boar was also a god.
When your clan is built on power and aggression, it makes sense
Here's a funny thing about Delney; he synergizes with 90% of Esper Midrange.
Anzrag as a commander is super scary. It hits you 3 times in the face and you're out. If you block it, you're even more sad and it's eventually gonna hit face anyway cause they're gonna have protection for it.
Richard being the voice of reason. Those tapped lands could be mythic for all I care. Just because wotc wants all two color lands to be rare or better doesn't make them playable.
Pads out the rare slot, makes you have to buy more packs to get the chase cards
Curse of the Stashed Skeleton is only ok in most decks but really damn good in certain decks. I plan on shoving it in Ashnod, Flesh Mechanist for sure. That curve is NUTS.
That's what I'm talking about, imagine using diabolic intent in the token tutoring a card and then tutoring another card on your next turn.
Case seems like a more fun and interesting battle to me. Or a callback to that quest/ascension cycle from the original Zendikar.
I think its better than diabolic tutor cause you can split up the mana cost plus a bonus skelly
41 yards is nothing for most kickers these days, is kicker power creep a problem in today's NFL?
"Everything is a twist on another mechanic in this set"
Agreed Seth I just wish they were fun mechanics to begin with 😅
The surveil lands... i think those might end up really handy.
Hi hi :D Congrats on the new sponsosrs! I did not expect the shopify one lol. It makes me happy seen the youtubers I like grow more
Urgent Necropsy (and far be it from me to comment in Modern) does hit Urzas Saga, the Construct Token, Hammer, Sigardas Aid, the creature holding the hammer, it kills Scales, Ozolith, Ravager, it kills one Rhino for free, etc.
Not sure if you'll have the Grave setup or mana to make some of those targets relevant, but targeting tokens for free and easily popping 1 mv stuff seems interesting. Probably not playable still
Unyielding Gatekeeper is a 3/2 for 2 that has kicker 3 exile a nonland card give them a 2/2... yeah that's pretty good. Gonna be in a ton of white commander decks
Exactly! 🎉❤
Don’t forget it can flicker your stuff either as protection or etb value too! Card does it all!
Crim bringing morph* to commander clash sounds interesting. I'd enjoy the mindgames of that.
Mistake: survail lands will not be in the rare slot, but only in the "mana fix" slot.
I take this opportunity to ask an important question: due to the proliferation of "activate only as a sorcery" and "once each turn" which are often hidden in these very long huge text boxes (and not always in the same location), wouldn't it be better for wotc to add symbols for these 2 limitations so we could easily adopt them on abilities?
I'm advocating for more symbols for years now. Sure, it's another hurdle to entry for beginners, but some more symbols would go a long way.
@@Nathanael_Forlorn let me guess, you guys play other card games.
has this been an issue?
I like the Veil lands. Gonna add 'em to my Esper Knights deck, since it has a reanimator theme.
35:55 wish these lands said something like if a card was put into a graveyard this land enters untapped
Alongside the Kaldheim gods being killable, I think its important to remember that Anzrag is exactly like Ilharg the Razeboar: it's a symbol of destruction and anarchy worshipped by the Gruul as a God, therefore it is a God. I think this nitpicking with Gods may have been solved if they introduced it earlier than t
Theros: Avatar is a creature type for great manifestations of a plane's power, but they include Progenitus which is worshipped as a God.
My only issue with the Case subtype is that its so specific to this set. It should have been something more setting agnostic, like "Mystery." I like the designs, it'll be unfortunate if we dont see them again because "Case" doesnt fit thematically.
The surveil lands are cool except for the fact they take up a rare slot. Should have just been uncommons.
I think it’s important to remember that 3-color decks were casting invoke despair very consistently not long ago! GGG might be easier than you guys think
To be fair, the splashes in that deck were for cards that are generating treasures and digging through your deck, a green red deck runs into much more issues, I’ve tried playing the world tree enchantment in gruul and it is far from consistent in standard.
As the other person said, treasures and card filtering were both huge parts of that deck, including but not limited to the now banned fable of the mirror-breaker which did both. Not saying it can't be done, but I don't think the payoff is anywhere near as worth it in standard as invoke despair was.
Didn't notice charm was any land... might have to try and make a timeless mono green deck using it
I think that 8 power on Anzrag is what's so god-like. It'd be awesome as a 5/4 or even a 6/4 but an 8/4 is outrageous. That's probably the reason it doesn't have protection like many other MTG gods.
23:59 I literally say this alot when I open new packs. Has me laughing at my breakfast table this morning
Oh man The Descendents!
Urgent necropsy is fine. It’s the newest rift on gaze of granite, which was not good enough. But I enjoyed playing it in bug control during it’s std
Congrats on the shopify sponsorship! That is legit!
Hey! Disguise is just kicker!
Hell yeah ..sweet shirt crim...
I mean in commander for archdruid's charm is busted even in multicolor isn't it? You have the yavimaia for fixing and the fetch lands and there is treasures everywhere. Or am I wrong?
Morphs were terrible until the Kadena 2019 Precon came out.
Why, exactly, isn't the Mole God a detective? We're long past the point of anyone working in their creative department that takes the game's settings seriously, so you'd may as well go whole-hog already and turn every old plane into more of a farce than it already is.
OK boomer
There has been no strech of time where MtG was a serious game.
@@avall0nNn1992 See, that's weird, because I remember this stretch from around 1993 - 2022 where creative made at least a token effort to not completely erase the art style and themes of its settings between visits.
At this point, though, we're in agreement - just make the transformers and jurassic park cards canonical.
Question, what happens if you disguise one of the DFC praetors from hand with Vannifar?
Same as manifesting any DFC. It enters in as a colorless 2/2 that is hidden from view. Basically, it has a "third face" that's face down.
Rule 712.15 in the rules.
Plz commander clash where everybody is playing morph decks.
Gross.
Gawd no
I do think a one-of urgent necropsy would be great in an invasion of alara domain deck.
gonna use delney in my boros backup deck to double trigger all my backups
I disagree about Case of the Stashed Skeleton. I think it’s way better than it seems, 2 mana essentially unblockable skeleton where if does happen to die, you get to tutor when you need to. Def unplayable in commander but could be decent in standard
Considering its still relative resilient as an enchantment, so just played as a value tutor it seems fine.
why did the episode name change from Omega Morph and Omega Manifest?
I've been very curious on people's thoughts on Urgent Necropsy (mainly because I want to justify playing it for the art), and I didn't hear one of the main sticking points I was expecting to hear.
Mainly BG or BGx decks emphasize reanimation or have more valuable uses of cards in the graveyard, which makes exiling cards less desirable. Be it some manner of 60-card reanimator (e.g. Living End) or commanders like Muldrotha and Meren, exiling permanents you can replay isn't a great idea. It could be reasonable if you run a lot of high mana-value spells, since those colors can't generally use them in the graveyard besides Delve fodder.
On the other hand, I think a deck that runs high-cost cards like Domain or Crashing Footfalls could have the high mana-costs needed to fuel this. But they just have better, more reliable removal options that cost less mana and always function in any stage they are castable.
The Norse/Kaldheim gods have no protection or recursion.
Ilharg, the other Gruul god, also isn't indestructible. I think Crim is right. It's worshipped by just the Gruul Clans, not necessarily a celestial being of Ravnica. 48:55
Ilharg has the last line of text "when it dies or goes into exile put into its owners deck 3rd from the top"
It wasn't just that God's must have indestructible.
The Kaldhiem Gods didn't have this kind of ability, but had the alt artifact mode. Which is on theme since the Norse gods are not immortal in the mythology either.
Delney will be interesting in prowess/magecraft decks.
Archdruid's charm will show up as a 3-of in Lotus Field at best.
5 mana "unconditional" removal that gives a 2/2 is so bad haha, it can't even block the 2/2 itself.
Tbh all the morph stuff seems stone unplayable to me, if you can skip turn 3 and 4 for a creature that dies to shock, you were already hard winning.
Urgent Necropsy could be ok in a deck that runs those expensive basic land cyclers .
Last set: None of the Seth prediction about Ixalan cards affecting standard came true
Seth: "Aaaaanyway, these cards are all super busted, you can build whole deck around them, this will see tonne of play, there is noooo way this wont be a good, isnt this just straight up better XYZ"
Seth is like those sport commentators who are super hyped about every drafted player and their predictions never works and those guys just warm bench for two years
Never played a constructed format with morphs. Hoping they are better than they look because even with ward 2, all of the disguise cards so far look so unplayable.
Have you played with foretell before? Its kinda like that, were keeping information + bluffing has value by itself, if you also think about the flexibility you get by including more 3 drops(effectively) in your deck it has its advantages. That said there is a tax to all this and only time will tell if it is worth it. Effectively, the more cards with hidden information are useable the better hiding information otself is.
@@Shimatzu95 Bluffing has value in limited, but in standard you can figure out what they morph based on their colors so the Bluffing part isn't really valuable. At most 2 of these morph cards will be playable. My main problem is the body is terrible. Every playable creature just stonewalls the morph side, so you have to flip them which just makes them inefficient creatures. At least foretell puts the card in a zone that can't be interacted with protecting it from discard.
Hope I'm wrong though, since morph is super fun, but is there a single playable morph card in any format? What were the good morphs in the past? Den Protector?
@@Metroid23456 while i never played 60 card constructed in a competetive manner, i know both from expirence in casual kitchentable magic and hearsay that the original morphs were good for their time and verry interesting to play both with and against.
I don’t think any of the disguise cards are good enough for this standard. Maybe if they had rotation but with the way things are? No way.
the new dual lands are staples for 2 color decks, maybes in 3 color.
I think case of the skeleton closet should be read as a 2/1 menace with when this dies draw demonic tutor
draw Demonic Tutor during end step*
Hey, at least the bills made it this year. My bengals were 🗑
5 min into the episode and I’m screaming fight back Seth!!!
Big, red, and green: God
Big, red, green and blue: Oh god
The gods of Ravnica are primordial spirits that are largely suppressed by the Guilds, but are powerful, primordial beings with close ties to the plane's pre-urban history. On Ravnica, a god seems to be just a powerful being of that nature, but don't have any especial protection.
Similarly, the gods of Kaldheim rely on Tyrite (in the form of the Cosmos Elixir) to become immortal, but are otherwise simply powerful, ageless beings.
Similarly, in an interview with Shivam, one of the main designers of Caverns of Ixalan emphasized that Aclazotz is an impostor god, which is why he has the Bat typing, while the other gods are more formless and primal, representing more traditional mesoamerican and South American concepts of deities.
This is one of the interesting things about Magic, IMO, that every plane treats its creature types differently, and in interesting ways.
a god can be any entity that is worshiped as such.
You forgot wargate can tutor any land directly into play untapped for 3 mana ! I play it in a ramp slot and just see it as upside that it can tutor any permanent into play
God is relevant to the plane it inhabits. Not all were immortal and is heavily tied into what plane it is designed for.
Kaldheim didn’t have the immortal clause as they were based on Norse figures who could very much “die”.
Ixalan’s ancient gods “died” but since the natural world is important to the culture of the land, the gods are recycled back into the land to one day be brought back. Very Mesoamerican.
You can take a look at each god cycle and see “what does being a god mean” on each plane with the answer varying based on lore, culture, or setting it’s based on.
What’s “collect evidence”? By reading Urgent Necropsy, I don’t understand it.
Muldrotha would like the cash of the stashed skeleton
The mole is a God because it is worshipped like on by the Gruul.
Vannifar, while born an elf, has always been an elf ooze since before her first depiction in the story, having adapted herself before becoming relevant.
Im in WI, Packers also lost from a missed FG. No Super Bowl means more MTG time
Cases are almost basically Classes from D&D.
Hmm. Archmage, Archdruid, Archbishop(white), Archlich(black), Archfiend for red or Archwizard?
How about archpriest(white), archwarlock(black) and archshaman(red)
@@Shimatzu95 Archpriest I've seen used in other stuff but I've never seen Archwarlock or Archshaman before.
@@gnomersy1087 i'm just pretty sure they will go with the "job-like" creature types so archfiend is unlikely and archlich is debateable.
Y’all sleepin on the sus skelly. That card seems nuts
Pride of hull dorsnt get doubled because of the plus 1 in its ability. Im pretty sure thats why tjey put the plus one there tbh
Thalia brick walls this set until it leaves standard. Long Goodbye kills the Raffine deck as well as morph
Is Illharg still the God the Gruul worship or did he die in the events of War of the Spark? That might explain why Anzrag is a God because the Gruul need something to worship. Still doesn't explain why a Mole God is in a detective murder mystery set though lmao
The mole did it 🤫
Golgari got a lot of good spells but where do they fit
Does Delney even work with spirited companion? ETB effects aren’t triggered abilities.
...Yes they are? Who told you otherwise?
@@GlaceonBM they are? Huh. I think it just never came up in a game for me. I've had that distinction in my head at least the past decade, not sure where I even came up with it.
I loved seth...I can longer respect him knowing he's a bills fan now...

Go Lions!!!
Man if this video shows up for anyone who doesn’t know what Magic is or who you guys are, that thumbnail gives a very different vibe.
I believe you can assemble an infinite combo with Anzrag where a fog effect plays the role of an actual combo piece. Like have some kind of tap-to-ping creature, pay 8 for Anzrags ability + Fog and run him in an enemy blocker for ever. Not a very good Combo but still... could be the next step in the Fog-Meta :D
Yes, bills did bills things
Part 2 please
It's just sad how indestructible is pretty much meaningless now. I feel like they need a new keyword to make something survive exile.
"When this card is put into the graveyard or exile from play, return it into play tapped at end of turn". Something like that. It would still be weaker than hexproof but way better than indestructible.
more powercreep is not a good answer to powercreep.
What’s Cloak? And why don’t the cards explain it? Is a a subtype like equipment?
I'm shocked the crew is this high on the set for 60 card. For commander, sure there's a bunch of cool cards. For 60 card though... they might need to bring the Homelands rule back for this set. My hyperbolic joke aside, there are some good 60 card cards like lightning helix, but the set seems extremely low power compared to the current state of Standard. If rotation had happened normally I would have more hope for this set. The new interaction sells ( a lot around 2 mana) are the big redeeming features of the set.
Whats the homelands rule?
@@donb7519 Homelands was a wildly underpowered and poorly received set to the point competitive players weren't playing any cards from the set. Because of this, Wizards made a rule for the Pro Tour where players HAD to have at least 5 cards from every set in their deck, to force people to play at least 5 Homelands cards. Most just put 5 in the sideboard and basically had functionally 10 card sideboards. I don't think this set is anywhere near that back, and quite frankly the interaction suite this set is bringing is outstanding. But I am very very low on the power level of the rest of then set.
sure, everyhing is for commander this days.
with the cancelation of the rotation (why was it done again?) the impact of this set will be, for now, almost zero. still some cards to try and that might shake things a bit.
delney is CoCo´s new best friend in older formats.
The morph removal spell is Turbo cope
Graveyard Tresspasser isn’t that popular anymore and this being instant speed solves the problem of the manlands that 5c control has
Today on Commander Clash, we learn that GODS CAN DIE.
Dude I was wondering what happened to the podcast. Took me months to find your new channel
I wonder if by the time we come back around to Ravinca for the 5th visit, we’ll get one more Gruul wild god and this one’s a mono green bird
Like they took the piss by making Illharg, the Boar God Mono red in WotS but now with Anzrag being a thing, we can actually round out the colors and have god to for Air, land/wild and underground (and then if you really wanna push it, a simic/Temur copycat abomination god for the sea even tho there’s hardly any actual large bodies of water on Ravinca)
I know this is not the right place for it, but please Richard check with your Physician, you have something in your neck.
Imagine Delney with ragavan.
Archdruid's Charm is a charm with 5 modes

Milo, who bonded with Lukka in Strixhaven?
2023: they put ward 2 on just about anything now
2024: cloak & disguise
I'd say the Anzrag's godhood comes into play with the theoretical "unlimited" combat steps. If you give it first strike with one of the many one mana red spells, or splash some white for indestructible buffs, it will likely board wipe your opponent(s).
"god has no meaning any more" xD
Not a fan of the disguise mechanic as i think it’s gimmicky . Still a few of the cards seem useful like the elephant 🐘
I think the lair lands are underrated, they are basically untapped tri lands with the downside of bouncing a land back to hand.
Untapped tri-lands at the cost of permanently setting you back 1 mana is not worthwhile.
