I agree with those who say this song doesn't get the credit it richly deserves, it's from the Close to You album, one of my all-time favorite Carpenter's songs.❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
One of the greatest and most underappreciated Carpenters' songs of them all! I have always loved this magnificently beautiful ballad, "Maybe It's You" from the "Close To You" album by Karen and Richard Carpenter. This ladies and gentlemen and boys and girls is REAL music performed by REAL talent!
Wow, this is a gem. Listening to her voice with headphones, is fantastic ! So, clear, crisp, sensual. And here she was, "early Karen, without the protection of her drums, to hide behind, so she is hiding behind her heavy bangs", shy and afraid to let anyone see her..only her voice. Not good enough Karen ! You, put so much into a song, through your vocal interpretation, and your facial expression plus, body expression. You, my friend are a natural. Someone worth seeing, hearing and knowing. What is it about a song, that makes you tick. Whatever, it is, it is magic. Thank you, for all the songs you gave us. May you are happy in Heaven, taking care of all those babies and children, you never had of your own.. God bless.
She was a musician before she was a singer. She was not "hiding", she was playing her instrument. Was Richard hiding behind his piano? He sang backup. He could have stood behind her and just sang so by your logic, he was hiding. Peggy Lee, Judy Garland, Beyonce were/are singers. That's stood/stand out front.
This song reminds me of family vacations to the coast , such warmth and inspiration of how it feels to be near the ocean with your loved ones, Just listen to these beautiful lyrics written by Richard Carpenter and sung so gracefully by his sister Karen. Wow! What a dynamic dual, it doesn't get any better than this. I thank you both for this lovely song.
@georgesilva1435. John Bettis wrote the lyrics to the song, "Maybe It's You" not Richard Carpenter. Richard Carpenter wrote the music and arranged the song.
Karen parece que saiu de um conto de fadas, só sei que ela existiu pq ela veio no meu país e vi o show dela, se não eu acharia que ela era um personagem inventado e encantava todos com sua voz maravilhosa, tinha uma voz abençoada e única.
This song reminds me of my childhood and sitting with my sisters as we listening to the latest album they purchased at the record store. Karen Carpenter’s voice is so comforting . 💕💕
Her voice is just devastatingly beautiful. The use of minor keys in their early albums was incredibly affective. Ugh, takes me back to the day she passed when I was a teenager. The world was stunned.
How Karen was able to sing so insightfully with such incredible conviction at such a young age is absolutely remarkable! As her brother Richard so aptly noted, she was able to sing way beyond her years! That's why Karen and Judy Garland, in my opinion, are equally the two greatest-ever female singers of popular music!
Maybe it's you Maybe it's me Maybe it's just the constant rhythm of the sea Maybe it's just That I've never been the kind who can pass a lucky penny by Maybe it's wise Maybe it's not Maybe it's you who brought the caring I forgot Isn't it nice To talk about the special way that you smile whenever I'm around? Rising on the shore, the ocean came Walks along the waves of velveteen His only thought was love for me Couldn't we stay Or must you go? Couldn't we stay and watch the splashing rocks we throw? Only a fool would want to leave the paradise that I find whenever you're around Only a fool Isn't it nice To talk about the special way that you smile whenever I'm around? Rising on the shore, the ocean came Walks along the waves of velveteen His only thought was love for me Love for me Couldn't we stay Or must you go? Couldn't we stay and watch the splashing rocks we throw? Only a fool would want to leave the paradise that I find whenever you're around Only a fool Only a fool

I’ve got every album and cd. You know it doesn’t matter what version, remix or remaster. As long as Karen is singing it’s magic.
Karen is still the best. Her angelic voice has withstood the test of time. Rest in peace dear Karen.

Not sure I've heard this before but she could sing the telephone directory and make it sound beautiful.

I'm just curious: Do people take the time to post lyrics on Bruce Springsteen's songs? They'd be needed & truly appreciated 😶
The clarinet solo adds mystic to the enchanting voice of Karen!!! RIP Karen gone too soon!!!
One of her best and she and her brother had many. Karen was the voice and Richard the genius arranger.
Perfection.
Not only robbed in life by liars and family....
Now RUclips and other pirates.
There is eternal judgement...
Rest Peaceful Karen Carpenter ❤
Karen é a dona de uma voz belíssima. Saudade de ouvir suas musicas ❤❤❤❤
What a voice!
It's sublime. This song lifts me out of my chair.
This is the song that was playing when I knew I was in love with my husband oh so many years ago.
Classic song, i got this LP when it came out and was a fan of them to this day.
Karen carpenter parece ter saído de um conto de fadas, com sua voz de anjo que encanta qualquer mortal e vai direto ao coração.
