Musical GENIUS here with great ability as an organist! Praise to his wife, too, as his registrar. Always a pleasure to hear Gert!
Bij toeval Gert gevonden. Wat een enthousiasme. Gert is een gezegend mens. God zegene hem en Marjolein. Zijn spel is heerlijk. En dat is hard nodig in deze moeilijke tijd.
AT 9:53 when Gert hits the high beam button with his foot to activate the high beams, we just KNEW that it was going to get serious! :-P All jokes aside though, this young man is a musical genius and never ceases to amaze with his renditions and unbelievable musical talent. Great work as always Gert!
Dag Gert. Al meer dan 40 jaar bespeel ik het orgel. Zo'n virtuoos als jij zal ik nooit worden maar de liefde voor het orgel en de muziek delen we. Ik werd vandaag 62 jaar. Jij ook nog gefeliciteerd met je verjaardag. Groeten van Henk Samplonius uit Appingedam

Absolutely Magnificent !
Excellent! The emotion, the style in Gert's playing is rarely found today. There are many organists and recitalists who just perfectly play the music, but when Gert plays he lights up the world with beauty, excellence and art. You are the best, a light to inspire all organists. I can't find enough words of praise, My Favorite organist musician!
Once again the young maestro excels in his great feel and interpretation of this great music, the touch, the tone, he's simply lost in the music.
Toccata (vanaf 10.03) is alom bekend en geweldig vertolkt door deze jonge organist met veel toekomst. Prachtig, prachtig!!

Gert van Hoef is 22 today, June 17th 2016 ! For eight years now and for our greatest pleasure, he has regularly given us his finest organ recitals, each new one more captivating than the last. Over the years we have seen his talent flourish, and so "Super Gert" has gradually become "Maestro Gert"... / Nous vous souhaitons un joyeux anniversaire, cher Gert ! / Happy birthday dear Gert ! Happy birthday to you ! / Gefeliciteerd met uw verjaardag, beste Gert !
Maybe at last my fear Gert would swallow a popular ‘easy’ repertiore (threatened by many of his early performances) and become the Liberace of the organ can be put to rest at last?

I was so happy to find this. My mother played this at our wedding, 55 years ago. I walked down the aisle to the Prière.

This is amazing. I am used to hearing this piece on huge Cavaille-Colls with thunderous pedal bombardes. This little twenty stop organ with just the one pedal reed loses nothing in comparison. There'[s magic in that registration.
Magnifique interprétation de cette oeuvre majeure pour l'orgue. Le mouvement lent (Prière à Notre-Dame) est admirablement exécuté, les mains de Gert effleurent à peine les touches des claviers... Et la toccata finale est éblouissante : tout y est, les nuances alliées au choix ingénieux des registrations comme l'équilibre judicieux entre les claviers manuels et le pédalier... Une fois de plus, Gert van Hoef nous comble de joie, cette joie qu'il partage à la console, celle à la fois d'exercer sa passion et de nous la communiquer. Une fois encore, un grand merci ! Cette Suite Gothique , je l'écoure souvent, et la dernière fois, il y a 2h, par Michel Chapuis à Dôle ; une performance, si l'on connait les limites de cet instrument magnifique, mais aussi le talent de Michel Chapuis pour se passer des "accessoires" modernes qu'on ne trouve pas sur cet orgue.Je continuerai à vous écouter... !

@@Nooticus Well yes...Sorry...You think I would know better since I spent a couple summers in the Netherlands. But the American education system generally synonymizes the two (at least when I was in 9th grade geography), old habits die hard. Gert is still amazing wherever he is playing!

Hoi Gert! Ik kan geen noot lezen en nooit veel orgel gehoord, maar je hebt me helemaal om! Ook mooi om te zien zoals je opgaat in de muziek! Ga zo door!

In the third movement - the serenade - do not discard the thick, almost "sickening" reedy stop you use in previous renditions. It is a delightful stop for this sad overly sentimental but beautiful gush. Superb famous last movement. You are doing well holding the tempo together with this roller. I like the gradual increase in volume to maximum organ. You are truly gifted.
Serenade? It's a *Prayer* to Our Lady, for crying out loud!

Door een technisch probleem met het orgel viel de hele voorbereiding in duigen en kon Gert geen gebruik maken van de vrije combinatie en oplosser. Er zat niets anders op, dan het hele concert handmatig te registreren.
Hoewel geen eenvoudige klus, werd het toch nog een geslaagde avond!

+Alan Windeknecht Because of a technical problem with the organ, they had to do the registrations manually instead of using preprogrammed ones. It wasn't easy, but it was a succesful evening!

This organ might not be able to mess with the big French ones, but you definitely managed to get that "Boellmann sound" out of it... Very adequate registration -- interesting to hear that a missing swell division is not a real problem for that piece.

Gert!!! Well done. Very good. Nice tempo, clear registration. The organ is interesting. Electric action or electro-pneumatic? Tilt-Tablet console seems unusual. More postings would be appreciated you your world wide fan club. WOnderful performance of a profound and delicate piece.

Bravo! My wife and I had the Introduction to the Suite Gothique as our wedding recessional. Sadly, the organist ruined it by playing it far too fast (we almost ran out of the church!) - your tempo was just perfect. It was 47 years ago though and I suppose nobody did Boellman in those days.

*Van Hoef encountered technical issues* with the combination action on the J. de Koff en Zoon organ (built 1954 at Utrecht), which forced manual registration for the entire program.

Not really, actually. We always depend on an organization to invite us. This hasn't happened for Canada yet.

Great performance! Equal to another organist XAVER VARNUS 's at the dedication of a new organ at Budapest, I think.
If you mean the Palace of Arts organ, that one is 11 years old at the moment ;-) But Xaver Varnus is one of the best indeed, a though competitor :-) Although he should have skipped the brass instruments in his recording.
Bravissimo.Menuet etwas langsamer wie vor 4 Jahren, dafür Toccata atemberaubend schnell. Da hält kein Orchester mit....... Danke für das Aufschalten.
Boëllmann has of course written the Suite Gothique for organ. But imagine, that an orchestra wants to play this piece. No way! Therefore my comment :-))
