But yeah Broxigar is great. For anyone else reading this, the books are great. Read them too.
Amazing Job, you consolidated the complete history/lore of the major events that shaped the realm of Azeroth, as players entering the universe in Classic WoW.
Funny how more elaborate these series get as they go on. I still remember when the story was just "Choose Peach Skins or Green Skins--both are functionally the same with only cosmetic differences"... but well, as you get more entries in any series--the events get more elaborate.
@@murlocaggrob2192 Yeah... Warcraft II was well above and beyond Warcraft. Which is why a lot of people were all, "just skip the first one--it isn't anything compared to the second one"
*Note* that the Warcraft Chronicles series revamped part of the original lore, and Classic takes place prior to these changes. For instance, back then it was cannon that troggs and dwarves were related (as per the quest in Uldaman), though not as of Chronicles. Undeath could be cured as well (as per the Corrupted Ashbringer event), which was later retconned. In other words, the lore found in the Chronicles series does not always coincide with Classic. However, much Chronicles still rings true. It's a good time to remember that at this point in time in the lore-development, Pandaren are more cannon than humanity's vrykul ancestry. That's not to say that one cannot play Classic with the Chronicles lore - in fact it might enhance the experience for some - but it is something to be kept in mind when interacting with some of the more obscure NPCs or reading some of the then cannon lore.
Glad somebody pointed this out. The later retcons were quite extensive (BC alone managed to retcon the entire franchise to revolve around space goats, retroactively). Classic WoW's actual lore, in terms of what is present in the game and in the quests, is really just... Warcraft 3. That was the point of the game - it was the world left in the aftermath of Warcraft 3.
It's funny how Warcraft and later Starcraft were originally licensed GamesWorkshop Warhammer/40k games, but late into development they canceled the licensing rights because they had some strange aversion to video games. Boy did that decision bite them in the ass.
Yeah, apparently Warcraft was originally planned to be a Warhammer game, but Blizz quickly scrapped that idea since they didn’t want to deal with the legal shit and just made their own IP.
A couple corrections 1. The orcs never called their home planet Draenor, it was naturally the Draenei who named it. 2. When Ner’Zhul was turned into the Lich King, his body had been disintegrated and his soul was encased into the empty set of armor, so he never actually sat upon the Frozen Throne, until Arthas put on the Helm of Domination and they merged.
That's honestly my favorite thing about Warcraft. It began because Blizzard wanted to make a Warhammer Fantasy RTS and Games Workshop said no, so they made their own *basically kinda* Warhammer Fantasy, and then just started throwing everything else ever into it. There's nothing new under the sun, and Blizzard homogenizes every conceivable trope and cliche into one digestible, fun, fairly deep slurry.
Thank you for this vid man, everyone says Nobbel is the best wow-lore guy on youtube but i find his videos to dish out way too much information way too fast which makes it harder to understand. This was clear, well-paced and skipped a lot of less necessary information so thanks! :)
The classic must have its own expansion with unused content added such as Ashbringer sword quest in Outlands. Related to Lich King and to the Scourge. Also The Emerald Dream, entirely scrapped zone would tell more about ancestors of naga and night elves and their all already existing forms.
Video: "The Pantheon of Titans that had previously helped out Azeroth also had a former member of their group that had gone rogu-" Me: "Chaos Insurgency.! Video: "Sargeras." Me: "I was close..."
Why is thrall green if the frostwolves didnt drink the blood? I know blizz Kinda retconned orcs to have Brown skin.. But they have to have given an explanation to this while doing so right?
I was curious about this as well, so i looked it up and I guess the Frostwolves may not have drank Mannoroth's blood, but still fought in the war on the Draenai, where many Shamans were turned to warlocks slowly tainting the orcs with fel energy even before Gul'Dan's pact.
I only played WoW briefly during the start of Legion and I am currently invested in FFXIV, but WoW lore is nonetheless really interesting and I always enjoy listening to it.
Here's hoping this video will spur more people to vote for Warcraft for the next exploring series when the next strawpoll comes out. The lore really is fantastic.
THANKS FOR ALWAYS POSTING VIDEOS WHEN IM TRYING TO GO TO BED, YOU MONSTER Seriously, though, great work as always, I would love to see more coverage of the WC universe
I still think that Warcraft 3's Human campaign is the best campaign in RTS history, at least the ones I've played. Everything from the story to the levels are so memorable and well designed.
There's always confusion about the first race on azeroth. According to the long quest dialog at the end of Uldaman in WoW, the Makers (Titans) first created the Earthen, which are stoneform dwarf-like beings, to shape the world. They were the first sentient beings created. An "unknown event" cause the Earthen to degenerate into two species, each retaining certain characteristics of the Earthen. One species retained the stone like body and brute strength of the Earthen, but suffered major degeneration in intellect. This species is known as Troggs. The other species retained the strength and intelligence of the Earthen, but lost the hardened stone characteristic. This species are what became known as dwarves.

A couple corrections
Great stuff. Detailed, but easy to follow.
This was a very informative video. I have been wanting to know a bit of the history of WOW and now I did thanks to you :-)
Damn I knew Warcraft drew inspiration from a lot of classic fantasy but this is like they said F it, just throw EVERYTHING together.
oh it gets even more better. There's a whole valhalla and everything. It's like an everything stew lol
More videos like this !! Loved it learned a lot, want to learn more ! Keep going !
One hell of a promo video. Nice work!
Wait time in que: 27 mins.
Video length: 27 mins.
This is perfect.
Says its 27 but its 2 hours actualy
I still got 36 mins left
Im not a WoW guy but i loved the rts' and am super excited for Reforged. Thanks for the video!
Just impressive production.
This was Really good, knew most, but what a great video !! sad to see that its the only one on wow tho .... !! more Please :D TBC and so on ?
I've actually always wanted to get into the lore of WoW/Warcraft purely from playing Hearthstone so this video was exactly what I needed, thanks man!
Check out Nobbel87
Thank you for this vid man, everyone says Nobbel is the best wow-lore guy on youtube but i find his videos to dish out way too much information way too fast which makes it harder to understand. This was clear, well-paced and skipped a lot of less necessary information so thanks! :)
The classic must have its own expansion with unused content added such as Ashbringer sword quest in Outlands. Related to Lich King and to the Scourge.
Also The Emerald Dream, entirely scrapped zone would tell more about ancestors of naga and night elves and their all already existing forms.
Video: "The Pantheon of Titans that had previously helped out Azeroth also had a former member of their group that had gone rogu-"
Me: "Chaos Insurgency.!
Video: "Sargeras."
Me: "I was close..."
Well in a sense he is powered by chaos like energy
@@KPX01 Kinda, fel is bassicly Chaos energy whilst Arcane is order.
Bit patchy, but overall correct. Good delivery in regards to Classic though too (y).
Where can I get 8:51 as a wallpaper or Desktop Background?
Omg please make more lore videos. You are amazing at it
A must watch. Well played sir.
the humanoid looks cool @10:06
Why is thrall green if the frostwolves didnt drink the blood? I know blizz Kinda retconned orcs to have Brown skin.. But they have to have given an explanation to this while doing so right?
I was curious about this as well, so i looked it up and I guess the Frostwolves may not have drank Mannoroth's blood, but still fought in the war on the Draenai, where many Shamans were turned to warlocks slowly tainting the orcs with fel energy even before Gul'Dan's pact.
for the next project I suggest the Chronicles of Prydain. also....FOR THE HORDE!!! sorry couldn't resist
It begins!!
The way you described this is so much more interesting than the actual game. Well done as usual.
I only played WoW briefly during the start of Legion and I am currently invested in FFXIV, but WoW lore is nonetheless really interesting and I always enjoy listening to it.
Warcraft is so awesome. I've loved it ever since I was a little kid.
Warcraft chronicle was art. Never really liked the games, but i love pretty much everything of this universe.
Here's hoping this video will spur more people to vote for Warcraft for the next exploring series when the next strawpoll comes out. The lore really is fantastic.
Dam now i wanna play it again
Havnt in years
A series would have been more comprehensive but ty for making this
Nobbel does comprehensive WoW videos and his videos cover almost any topic of WoW lore.
also would have been more accurate, but people like nobble already have those if people want more indepth lore info
@@Georelic35 ik that, been subbed to him since his rexxar vid. It's alright for other people to join in on lore.
That was great man thank you!
THANKS FOR ALWAYS POSTING VIDEOS WHEN IM TRYING TO GO TO BED, YOU MONSTER
Seriously, though, great work as always, I would love to see more coverage of the WC universe
Really great video man!! Make more!
Holy shite this has been a long time coming
I think it would be really cool if he did a video about the Mother's Horse Eyes "Mythos" since its kinda inspired by Lovecraft but has it's own lore.
Wow this is amazing!, keep them coming.
Hey man appreciate it, just started playing this, blind experience too
subbed, perfect intro video
I still think that Warcraft 3's Human campaign is the best campaign in RTS history, at least the ones I've played. Everything from the story to the levels are so memorable and well designed.
It's not bad. But Homeworld blew it out of the water, two full years earlier.

God, I was half expecting to hear "helloooo everyone" at the start of this video 😂
I'm hyped as hell for Classic
Great video. Enjoyed it alot. Thanks!
Cant find that lordaeron picture
