- It's been five years since we covered the complete story of Warcraft. Since that time we've had the warcraft chronicles to clean up some of the lore. Comics, short stories, audio drama's, youtube videos and brand new expansions in the form of Warlord of Draenor, Legion and Battle for Azeroth. All in all, plenty of new things to be added. Plenty of reason to honor your many requests and make an updated version... I really hope you'll enjoy the video!

My wife just started playing wow but felt so lost with all the lore. I was at a loss thinking "how the heck am I going to explain WoW lore to her?it's so much" then I remembered, 'duh, this isn't my problem, let Nobbel deal with it' she loves your videos and says you have a great narrator voice. For the hours of entertainment you have given me, and the hours you will give her, thank you for your hard work.
I'm literally here for the same reason. Wife started playing haha

@chansey Having the benefit of knowing how the game plays already myself, I would watch the lore if you find it interesting.
The current state of WoW has you leveling incredibly fast. The amount of lore you'll experience while leveling naturally is drops in a bucket that could fill a pool before the game literally forces you into current content ie Dragonflight.
If you are making a fresh account, 0% of played, it's going to start your new characters off in what is Battle for Azeroth content. Once you reach I believe lvl 60 an NPC named Chromie will allow you timewalk on new characters. Timewalking makes the expansion of your choosing match your characters lvl so you can experience which ever one you want while lvling up before hitting 60. At 60 it forces you into Dragonflight.
I don't know 100% if this still works but you used to be able to do the class trial function which essentially let's you test drive a character at lvl 60. And doing this would trigger the system to think you reached lvl 60 on a character and allow you use chromie time to pick which expansion you want to play regardless of being brand new!

It’s a shame really…the current xpac retcons almost all of this as “the jailer did it”….dark times we live in for the lore of this game…

I just wanted to let you know that for a very long time now my entire family and I have made sure to watch every single one of your videos in hopes to get a better understanding of Warcraft lore. The way that you describe all of the events in Warcraft's history is really clear and always helps us out when we want to know something specific about the lore.
It's usually so hard to dig through all of the databases that are available to find the specific little bits, and so our first resort is always your videos. So thanks for working hard all these years and making all of WoW lore more reachable for everyone!

@@Anxiou5Panda I agree. Must be amazing. Over the years I left WoW (day one of WoD) now I'm back with a sub to it, so i can play up to the end of legion then I'm skipping BFA end game and buying the gameS NEW XPAC shadowlands in a couple weeks instead.
Anyway, I no longer have ANYONE who plays thos around me. My new account still has no B.net friends or any friends at all. The game has become so much less social. It's so sad tbh

As a new player this just makes the game feel EVEN more awesome. The lore is so deep and amazing no other game could come close to rivaling it ! thanks Nobbel ! truly awesome !

this is one of the best videos ever made, great for us newer wow people, i doubt you'll read this but i want you to know i spent 8 hours watching cinematics and trailers to try to understand some and in 5 minutes you had explained more then they ever did. this video is so well put together so concise and so dumbed down for entry level but not treating the audience like they are dumb. very impressed super excited to listen to this series . thanks a ton !

Warcraft lore can't compete with GoT lore. I mean I love WoW but lets be real here.
@Clent Burkins doesn't matter how mich lore there is, what matters is how good the story can be. And GoT still had a lot of mystery to it's lore unlike WoW.

OWL are you high? Wow lore is 10x better than GoT lore. The main lore of GoT is essentially just the human lore of eastern kingdoms. Wow has much more and in a deeper detail than GoT. Not even a close comparison

This was a blast to watch. I literally have played Warcraft since the very first RTS (Warcraft: Orcs & Humans) and still play WoW today. I remember some of those ancient story lines!
For some reason in my mind‘s eye when I listen to him talk I picture him smiling like Zapp Brannigan and posing occasionally in heroic ways. It just adds to the majesty of the video. Great work!

Ive played every single warcraft game and thought I knew it all. You definitely schooled me a bit. I love warcrafts lore and characters. Arthas, Thrall, Illidan, Sylvannas, Varian, Uther, Bloodhoof and Saurfang...so many great stories and i barely scratched the surface.
Really really well done. I've been playing WOW since wrath and never understood the full story. This is exactly what I've been looking for.

As a person that has gotten into WoW in the last few months I can say that if you intention is to go into the game and immerse yourself in the story from the beginning, then as of now, you've already failed. Personally i think azeroth will come to life, she is the most powerfull out there. And cleanse the void or at least something like it.
honestly SAME, i'm a big lore nerd in the games and stuff that i like and the lore surrounding the origin of the universe is always my favorite part.
Since Warlords of Draenor opened up the possibility to visit alternate timelines, maybe we'll be able to see both a corrupted Azeroth, and a pure Azeroth.

wow Nobble87 I love how you retell the story and add pictures to it, I actually thought that the WoW lore was a bit simpler, but there is so much content there that you can hardly get enough of it. I actually intended to listen to it as an audio book while working or while gaming, but my English is so bad that I can hardly keep up. I even have to reduce the speed to 0.85 so that I can follow everything perfectly
New player to WoW here. Ive been feeling very lost being dropped into Dragonflight and this definitely helps being able to understand generally what has happened before campaigns I can play. Thank you so much for all the work you do and have done to preserve this.

Love realizing just how many expansions have been essentially "Old God plan to escape 1.0, 2.0, 3.0 (revised)"
Love how Nobbel can fully explain everything and it's all in depth, then there's just why sylvanas the evil is warchief and he's just "i unno, no one knows, loa I guess"
Well now it makes sense....Jailer whispering to Vol jin in his ear before his death to make Sylvannas warchief so she can do his will. And the funny thing is she did evil things with the goal of herself grasping freedom, while also being a sclave to the jailer XD the irony, right?
Thank god people have made these kind of videos. I recently started playing WoW MOP with a couple friends and had never touched the franchise before. But now I'm kind've in love with the world and want to learn more about it.

You know, I've been playing WoW for years, tho, now that I'm an adult (19) I've really started to get into the story side of things instead of just the random quests I pick up. So, I started playing Dragonflight, but I was seriously lost on what the hell they were talking about at times. Now that I've watched this video, I can genuinely say, other than Shadowlands (which I've paused Dragonflight to play) I am 100% up to date. Thanks so much.
On top of all that, it's this intrinsic lore and history, as much as the gameplay, that is the reason that World of Warcraft has been able to reign as the #1 MMORPG for almost 20 years now. I love this game, and I'm always happy when new players join our widespread, but happy, community. Keep up the good work Nobbel.
I just started playing WoW because of WoW classic and even bought retail because of it. So this was a great catcher-upper!
But man, I sorta get now why the internet went insane about how brutal Sylvanas was. But from what I gather, she's still playing her character right. Her only "Side" is truly hers. Not the Hordes, HERS. I can't wait to see how everything unfolds.
