4:13 slightly is an understatement
You can definitely hear the difference. This has to be one of THE BEST demonstrations on RUclips on the subject
It’s for sure subtle and clean. Very SSL.
@@SoundcastStudios I dunno. Heard the differences clearly on my phones.
The only two that sounded remotely similar was the one with the input driven and the one with the harmonics added (for obvious reason).
The mix became brighter and mids more forward with the plugin added compared to the original mix
I can tell. The bass is more dense..especially with theTHD
The SSL 9000 J was considered a super analog console. Which in plain English means that it's supposed to sound transparent with a low noise floor. It's magic is really in the processing. Start compressing and EQing and you'll hear why it's superior to the older SSL versions. This is the why plugin defaults to no THD. It's supposed to have a clean sound.
Very interesting. I had no idea about that. Thanks for that extra bit of info
You're welcome. Like your video showed there is a little bit of console distortion and low noise which shows even without processing it is still slightly affecting the sound. In my opinion, in a nice way. ☺️
I very much agree!
I can feel the difference more than I can hear it, but the low end is where the money is for me. Thanks for the review
this is a very interesting outlook on it. Think it's because it's taming the high end so the low end can use up more space?
The characteristics are definitely there. Just placing it on a single instrument track imparts a sound I can only describe as open sophistication. Very cool.
i personally don't notice it that much on a single track but definitely notice it when added to a few tracks
I can very clearly hear the differences in each of the mixes, if you want to see what that plugin is doing, also to see what those different channel numbers mean you can open the bx Console in software called PluginDoctor and there you can see easily the eq curves, noise amount, saturation (it's mostly odd harmonic but has bit more even harmonics than 4000E or G for example).
This is incredibly helpful, thanks
No way dude!! Life changer!!
The difference is clear between the mixes even through my iPhone on RUclips. Plugin sounds really nice.
It does add a nice bit of saturation
You need to mix the individual tracks and tweak them to suit the instrument .. that will make a huge difference
That’s literally not the point of the video…
To me it's a night/day difference. I think of it like neutral vs "studio quality." It adds a little more dimension & quality to the vocals especially.
You did a great job making this A/B video, thank you!
Hi, why does the mix is in full mono? Because of the video export? That would have been interesting to hear the differences on a stereo mix.
It wasn’t really a mix that’s why. I just set levels and that was it.
I mostly wanted to hear the sound of the plugin and probably should have done some panning
any difference there might be will be smashed out by conversion to mp3. I think it's a workflow tool more than a 'sound' thing.
if it sounds good to you while mixing though, it's good motivation.
Interesting.
definitely adds a little something something
Did you use the TMT??
Yes
I love this plugin but I hate the White Noise it adds and when you use it in a lot of channels it's crazy noticable and not pleasant.
Lower the V Gain, that is what's adding the noise.
@@SoundcastStudios Thanks!!! I don't know why I didn't think of that LOL
why are you using the mono version of the plug in
Most tracks are in mono
Not the way to compare a channel strip
what would be your suggestion?
Huh??. The channelstrip enabled in default mode changes the sound.
If 99% of the people don't have a real console to compare it to then how will they know if it sounds just like the ssl or or just plain 🐍 🛢
Well my video was more to show if the plugin has a sound and wether or not you like what it’s doing to the tracks.
Wether or not it sounds like the real console is irrelevant in this case.
I just care if it sounds good.
@@SoundcastStudios
I understand that.
