Fab filter bundle ! And depending on the tracks brainworks plugin alliance .. Btw, thank you for your videos. You most certainly inspire me to get up and keep practicing mixing. Stay safe 🖤🤘🏻
Use that with bass drops or transitions sidechained to bass elements. So your transitions have impact without fighting for low end with the bass. Also useful to get the bass out of the way of the kick very quickly. SUPER creative to use it on reverb though, putting that in my back pocket. Fabfilter Pro-Q 3 has the same feature, to use the sidechain only on specific bands.
Ef Nerva I haven’t used it in a little while, does it force all the bands’ dynamics sections to follow the sidechain? That kind of sucks. Either way, Yeah, if that’s what you’re using the dynamics in the plugin for, it works great. I used to use it for that exact purpose.
It’s SO great to have this song as a reference. It’s relevant and current and has tons of fun layers to unpack. Huge props to whoever cleared the use of this in the video, indispensable!!
If I learn nothing else this week the reverb sidechain will always stay with me - and what's more, perhaps even more importantly, it opens your mind to all sorts of new ideas. Great stuff, thank you for putting this together Warren :)

FNK Therr Maitz, Egor Sesarev, Ivan Dorn, Monatik, Vitya Isaev, M’Dee and etc. Those are examples from modern music not to mention classical composers and composers of 90s and Soviet era.
@@weesonicmoments sure, they aren't bad, but more on "so-so" side, because Russian music scene is almost entirely filled with an artists, who can only mimic to US/UK ones.
that maag eq is magical, when he put the air to 10, i was ready to hear that RINGING air that happens when eq that much with any other eq, but it felt smooth up untill the last digit
You sir and Recording Revolution really helps me a lot about understanding mixing. Thank you always for creating a great content. I still watched your Jack Joseph Puig and Jacquire King interview, it's the best motivational video for me.

Your fav plugins list needs more saturation lol...those compressors are nice though & that Slate rack Im guessing is your "go to" saturation. I wish people could put me on to some great saturation plugins outside of the basic vintage compressor list.
Arutria's 1973 Pre is something that I discovered here recently. I put it on almost every track, the Maag audio EQ4 reminds me a lot of it. It gives such a nice high end clarity and really brings out the articulations of vocals, guitar, drums, what have yopu.
Really nice rundown. Thanks! My most used plugin is actually a freebie, called Frontier. It's an 1176 looking limiter, and I use it on anything I need to really jump out. Kick drums, snares, anything that should be popping, but isn't.
Man, I love that maag EQ! I probably over use it a bit cause I love how it sounds. I like the Sonox Inflateor, Brainworks EQ, and Waves vintage compresors.
Cheers! Very thorough and some great plugins and especially sharing the technique he uses on the waves F6 eq. I never realized the versatility of the decapitator I've been putting off purchasing but I just can't put it off much longer. The pultec is definitely a must own and very tough to keep that plugin off of every track. Btw I can't stand rap but that song had a really cool vibe (I can't believe I'm saying this!).

Hey, great video, thanks! Love your presentation style; you make it easy to understand and hear the differences. Two things: the maag is on sale right now for $30, and there's a free version called luftikus. Also, if you're ready to read a manual, the TDR Nova is maybe a good free alternative to f6.
I watched this video again after a while; I enjoy revisiting instructional videos to see if I've learned anything in the mean time.... Anyway, for those who don't know: analog obsession has a new version of Rare, the eqp-1a emulation (version 6). I haven't compared it to the uad version, but I think it's pretty good, and it has a 4x oversampling option in the update. And it's free. For those getting started, you have: TDR Nova, luftikus, and rare.
Love the side-train trick on the reverb. The Pultec EQ is amazing as well. Its my go to EQ for acoustic guitars. And of course the Decapitator... probably one of the coolest plug ins there is... I use it on vocals, bass, drums, guitars...

Thanks! the UAD Pultec is definitely a great plugin for boosting without harshness or mud. I think we need a shootout of different ones as there seems to be dozens of Pultec VSTs.
I completely forgot I even owned Vitamin. I was confused, 'did i own it?' Had to open my DAW up and take a look. And yes, there it was untouched, covered in virtual dust. Time to re-investigate it. The other great way to do the ducking trick you talk about at the start with F6 is a plugin called trackspacer - it side-chains to a source and engages cuts in the frequency spectrum of the side-chain source. As far as Synths If I am Not using Modular lol. I do use the Arturia V collection as that had been on sale for a while. I was an Idiot, Bought the Buchla eisel, and then bought the package that included it. Arturuia uses a modeling tech called TAE ( i believe it stands for true analog emulation) something like that I may have even gotten the letters wrong. But again, they do nail the analogue sound and specifically for the models they represent. I had picked up the King by WA productions and as a Master Multiband Compressor/pusher I was fairly pleased. However for those of you who read until the end, your patience Has Paid off, Sign up to Plug in Alliance Download a Trial of Elysiums MASTER COMPRESSOR ( the hardware is 10,000 straight up and worth every frikkin penny). and the software, isnt THAT FAR OFF the BEST COMPRESSOR SINGLE HANDEDLY I HAVE EVER SEEN. You can boost flatten lower, you name it, you can even add low frequencies gain make up to one side and high frequencie gain make up to left you can control the soft clip, It has Feed forward instead of feed back,,,,, yeah its DOOOOOOPe and it comes with a wicked compressor for the track channels called the Mpressor. You are welcome. Finally hop over to D16 and grab your self a frontier, it is a push pull style Limiter Maximizer that I used for about Two years before using others, however i still use it, barely registers on the cpu, with the MASTER COMPRESSOR I still dont know how it can get the lufs it does, while leaving the decibals put. its some Vodoo fi real. I hope someone gets some insight from this. Bless AMP ROOM anyone. Softube just got fender and Marshalls name. Their Bass AMP called the WORLD TOUR by eden ( I have the Hardware....its identicle) scary. The third Saturator/Distortion I would have to give i do dig the brainworx SSLG series with patended tmt technology, it makes it an actual virtual Console, &2 channels DSP'd for that ass with the classic and MOST widely used SSL ever and SSL was so Impressed they actually worked Hand in Glove with Brainworks to make their Console, yeah its about 350$, however They usually have a once a year 30$ any plugg in. For mastering Obviously Izotopes Ozone Algos are Shizz fi real. So I have Ozone, RX7, Stutter edit1 amazing plugg in for like builds risers sweeps., and just randomization/Probabillity.
Spent years being frustrated with Waves... Glad the pricing is a little better, but haven't needed to pull the trigger. I got too much good stuff in my DAW! +10 points for maag EQ though
My favorites are Waves (All of them). I also love SoundToys Echoboy and a really old plugin called Timeworks 4080L Reverb. BTW, I hate plugins and prefer to use outboard equipment when possible.
I use them all, except the Decapitator, but in place I use a Vertigo VSM-3, which was also analog hardware. The decapitator is on sale right now, maybe I buy that one as well.
Warren you look so different in this video, also probably this first video see you didn't say "hope you doing marvellously well" , but still good content
Decapitator isn't a high-quality saturator. It has no oversampling and there are tons of aliasing artifacts. Take a high pitch sine wave and pitch bend it and watch the aliasing fold back below 20khz. Try the same with IK multimedia neve emulations, UAD channels strips/pres, Kazrog True Iron, Kush Audio transformer emulations, Black Rooster VPR-73, Fabfilter Saturn, etc. Much better, way less aliasing artifacts.
I have wanted that EQ4 for YEEEEARS, but I never seem to catch it on sale! 😖😫😩 I've yet to see anything else that gets up into that 40k psychoacoustic/perception frequency range, and it's... frustrating lol/smh On the bright side, I *LOVE* that the sample track for this video is this good! lol Always nice when the music itself makes you actually want to listen to music, analytically and otherwise 😉😄

Finally hop over to D16 and grab your self a frontier, it is a push pull style Limiter Maximizer that I used for about Two years before using others, however i still use it, barely registers on the cpu,
with the MASTER COMPRESSOR I still dont know how it can get the lufs it does, while leaving the decibals put. its some Vodoo fi real. I hope someone gets some insight from this. Bless
AMP ROOM anyone. Softube just got fender and Marshalls name. Their Bass AMP called the WORLD TOUR by eden ( I have the Hardware....its identicle) scary.
The third Saturator/Distortion I would have to give
i do dig the brainworx SSLG series with patended tmt technology, it makes it an actual virtual Console, &2 channels DSP'd for that ass with the classic and MOST widely used SSL ever and SSL was so Impressed they actually worked Hand in Glove with Brainworks to make their Console, yeah its about 350$, however They usually have a once a year 30$ any plugg in. For mastering Obviously Izotopes Ozone Algos are Shizz fi real. So I have Ozone, RX7, Stutter edit1 amazing plugg in for like builds risers sweeps., and just randomization/Probabillity.
I love the Pultec. I boost at 12k and cut 10k until it's has some nice air on a vocal.
Great tip! Agreed
Shout out to Method Man. Sick, sick BARS!
Passing on this
Beauty Memory Locations ♥

That soundtoy is a go to
Thanks for the insight and practical applications here, Ariel. But thanks most for turning me on to Cash Rules. Holy 5hi*!
NICE!
Thanks ever so much Roy!!
Spent years being frustrated with Waves...
Glad the pricing is a little better, but haven't needed to pull the trigger. I got too much good stuff in my DAW!
+10 points for maag EQ though
I stopped using Waves because of how hard the licensing is. Every time I swap from wireless to a hardwired ethernet, all my plugins stop working smh
@@MaybeLoveHate you can get a static license, I'm pretty sure....
Brilliant 👍🏾
My favorites are Waves (All of them). I also love SoundToys Echoboy and a really old plugin called Timeworks 4080L Reverb. BTW, I hate plugins and prefer to use outboard equipment when possible.
well done bro
Thanks ever so much
I use them all, except the Decapitator, but in place I use a Vertigo VSM-3, which was also analog hardware. The decapitator is on sale right now, maybe I buy that one as well.
GREAT POST!! THANKS!! What do you think about those ATC SCM25 loudspeakers you use there?
Whoa surprise Method Man Verse! One of my favorite rappers.
Are those horns the Snarky Puppy horns? Sounds much like it, love that arrangement!
Esos plugins son excelentes! Yo también los uso! That's plugins are amazing! I use all of this too!
tu usas el f6?
@@NIP28 tú que usas bro
Love the trick on the reverb!
Warren you look so different in this video, also probably this first video see you didn't say "hope you doing marvellously well" , but still good content
nice reverb trick
uffff tips que valen oro
Waves is sick
CLA VOCALSSSS!!!!
😖😫😩 I've yet to see anything else that gets up into that 40k psychoacoustic/perception frequency range, and it's... frustrating lol/smh
On the bright side, I *LOVE* that the sample track for this video is this good! lol Always nice when the music itself makes you actually want to listen to music, analytically and otherwise 😉😄
