    Your garden is beautiful! I was getting very discouraged because my dahlias were coming up SLOWLY, if at all. I wanted to give up on them. Now, I am going to feed and water still and let them do whatever they will. Whatever I get, I get. When I see your dahlias, I think they are very slow starters. Thank you for letting me the the progress in your garden! Happy Friday! 🌞 🌸🌹🌺🪴🌷

      I'm in zone 9B Northern California & some of my dahlias are only just barely starting to sprout this week vs some have been up for a month & are 2ft tall. Since my dahlias are interplanted amongst everything else in a mixed border I just have to keep small/short cages around them year round to remind me that they are there so I don't accidentally damage the tubers.

      @@mellfraze8112how much water do you give them? I read that they require 60 minutes of slow drip watering every 3 days. That’s an enormous amount of water!!

    • @mellfraze8112
      @mellfraze8112 3 месяца назад +1

      @@sherylchapman4168 they get the same sprinkler water as the rest of my garden, I usually water daily when temperature is over 100F because my garden is heavily planted but otherwise I water every 3-5 days. I keep an eye on the plants that wilt easily & monitor soil moisture, watering early in the morning or late in the evening. With temps in the 80s-90s my garden gets 30-45 minutes of water by sprinkler. I have heavy soil with a thick layer of leaf mulch & wood chips so it holds moisture well.

      @@HelloGarden where to place them on the property. I’ve learned a lot watching your videos on placing multiple plantings within the same container and I feel somewhat confident with that. It’s how to arrange them all together on the property. I’m always moving them trying to figure out the best placement. I’ll add, I have a tandem bike that I had converted to a container by placing baskets on it everywhere. It’s a big piece, takes up a lot of room and is the center of my garden.

    Most daikon radishes are sensitive to day length and will bolt if planted in spring. They are a winter radish and require shorter day lengths and cooler temps to form the roots, so they are best sown mid summer for a fall/winter harvest. Enjoy the flowers now and let them go to seed, and you will have lots of seed to resow later!

I have a country garden so things are looking wild with our rainy May. However, I have beautiful ranunculus blooming that I soaked in early February, grew under lights and planted out in mid March. Oh I’m so sorry. Once scale gets going, it’s really difficult to eradicate. I think it sounds like you’re going to need a multi-pronged approach.
