I really don't like the Lane keep in this Mazda.. in my opinion it drifts out of the lane terriblely... My wife has the 2022 Hyundai Tucson and I can drive it hands free until the car tells me to put my hands back on the wheel..it follows the curve perfectly!
So I was also trying to figure out the steering assist in my CX5 and I think it only works in speeds below 60km/h despite the manual saying that it should works from 0 to 145 km/h driving forward. When it works, it's great, but apparently it has this limitation. I will dig more to see what I find out
Appreciate your input! I am pretty sure I was able to use it at speeds over 60 km/h previously and it worked most of the time, but for some reason it failed to engage properly during this POV drive. Let me know if you find out more!
Yeah, I've heard Mazda still doesn't have highway lane keep tech like Hyundai/Kia or Honda. Really, I just need it to work for 5 or 10 seconds at a time so that I can clean my glasses or grab a snack. I'm looking at a CX-90 or Pilot.
I struggle to remember any of these things so I don’t rely on them or often engage them. I find it safer to drive as if it had none of these things. I do like how BRAKE appears in red on the windscreen if you’re about to run up the butt of the car in front, that’s helped me a few times by giving me a bit of extra warning time.
I agree, the active lane centering assists (especially Mazda's) is very situational. The Emergency Brake warnings you have described are amazing though. Can't lie, saved my butt once or twice!
You're welcome! Generally I would say that in the compact SUV segment Hyundai / Kia have the most advanced system on the market for the time being. But others are catching up fast!
I'm so upset with Mazda when it comes to lane centering assist!! Because I had a 2020 Toyota Corolla. One of my favorite features was continuous lane centering.. THE MAZDA SELECT VERSION 2023 MODEL ONLY HAS LANE ASSIST NOT CONSTANT LANE CENTERING LIKE IS STANDARD ON ALL BASIC TOYOTA COROLLAS!! Mazda wants you to buy the turbo version like the one you are using that cost a hell of a lot more money THEY DROPPED THE BALL ON THIS ONE I ALMOST DIDN'T BUY THE MAZDA BECAUSE OF THIS!! The Lane centering or lane continuous centering lane centering assist whatever you want to call it is unbelievable for long trips!! You just have to touch the wheel and it keeps you right in the center which is great for fatigue I love it so much. Also basic Toyota Corollas have better digital screens with more information. And they also have a touch screen.. I know Mazda wants to be safe and everything but come on no touch screen in 2023 you got to be kidding me.. Also all Corollas have something called eco mode a green light that goes on and off and you can have a digital display of your speedometer rather than the analog look.. Little things like That Mazda needs to get on the ball The car itself or the CX-5 BLOWS AWAY THE COROLLA IN SO MANY OTHER WAYS!! Performance, quietness, handling, room, cargo, power But man that lane centering assist is awesome on the corolla's work so good drove 8 hours and it made it so easy!! Very mad at Mazda about that!! They should basically update their Mazda CX-5 software so lane centering assist starts to work.. I don't think you need a new system cuz it's got the camera and everything it's probably a software thing.. because the lane assist does throw you back into the lane a little bit very sloppy but works.. so the technology is right there they should update the software to be standard on all CX-5s!!
The good thing is that the new CX-90 has a full lane centering assist! So expect that system to spread to Mazda's other models with their new refreshes 👍🏻
Which one's were the best? Can you order them in descending order? I tried toyota safety sense 2.0 and it was really good. I bought mazda cx30 recently and I don't have enough courage to test it.
I haven't tried Toyota's system yet, but I would rank the semi-autonomous systems I have tested like this: 1: Hyundai / Kia 2: Ford 3: Honda 4: Nissan 5: Mazda Mazda's system isn't bad, but the limitations it has just render it unavailable most of the time
@@GCCarsCA We have a 2020 Palisade, and the "lane follow assist," system works mostly flawlessly. In tighter corners on the interstate, it doesn't always feel like it will hold the lane, especially at increased speeds, but I always intervene at that point, before I find out for sure. It should also be said, ours is an SEL model, and not equipped with the highway driving assist system. That system will actually adjust the speed in accordance with GPS recognized speed limits, possibly eliminating the issue I mentioned above. It is a VERY impressive system.
i've noticed that a 2024 cx50's MRCC's breaking triggers Progressive's driving status app with lots of "hard breaking" instances in slower stopNgo traffic . Does anyone else notice this?
My 2017 Pilot is useless for lane assist and it flashes BRAKE BRAKE when driving on a two lane road when a car is coming the other way randomly when driving.
It's difficult to put together a list, as I've tested over 125 different vehicles. But I can generally group a top 3 by manufacturer: 1: Hyundai / Kia / Genesis 2: Honda 3: Ford Note that this excludes autonomous tech like GM's Super Cruise and Ford's Blue Cruise.
I'm looking at your instrument cluster and can't tell if the lane "keeping" assist is active. other cars like Acura and Audi has it (i know cause i have both of them). if it's White, then the system is "on", but not "active". if it's Green, then the system is "on" and "active". if it's red/orange, then it's "out of lane". but it appears to me that the mazda is more in line with "lane assist" but not "keeping", or more than "lane departure assist". if it's so, then i am disappointed.
For the lane centering try to spot the little steering wheel symbol in the center gauge. If it's white it is on but isn't active, when it turns green it actively centers the car in the lane. Mazda's gauges aren't the most intuitive for it's driving assists, but after a while one gets used to it.
am I right to say that lane centering comes only on a signature trim and not available on turbo ? I bought myself a turbo 2 weeks ago, now I regret a bit I didn't know I won't get lane centering. In your video it looks like it's not working in many conditions, do you think I've missed a lot ? I thought signature only gives 360 camera and parking sensors, I thought it's wasn't worth 2250$ more.
It seems like the Signature trim in the US is the only one to include the lane centering. But I don't think that you are missing out on too much. It usually works better than in this video, but it's quite on the level of some competitors. You can be happy with your Turbo!
@@GCCarsCA Interesting, since most reviewers have said the same thing, except completely opposite. Reason being, the CX-5 has a multi-link rear suspension, where both the CX-30 and 3 have only a torsion beam rear. The multi-link tends to provide grip on less than perfect roadway surfaces, unlike the torsion beam which does not handle undulating road surfaces as well. They also say the previous gen Mazda 3, with a multi-link handled better. 🤷♂️
Ich schreibe das mal auf deutsch 😂. In unserem Mazda ist es auch so, dass ab 50 oder 60 das Lane-Centering nicht mehr funktioniert. Das ist wohl so geregelt.

Works only up to 45 miles for traffic assistance not autonomous
Let me know if you get anymore information because I have the same problem
I think it needs a car in front to lock on to. Only then will the lane keep assist work properly.

hey thank you for the video! what would be the best non-expensive car with good adaptive cruise control and good auto steering ?
Hyundai's and Kia's are generally really good in terms of their semi-autonomous features even at lower prices.

Toyota & Honda are better in lane assist/lane centering?
I can't speak for Toyota, but Honda usually has a pretty good system that is let's you use it more often than the Mazda system does.

It's nice to have in traffic, but with the 40mph limitation it's not something you can use all the time.
Coming from a 2020 Toyota Corolla, Mazda's Cx5 LKAS isn't nearly as good. I've only had it for a few days and it seems like it doesn't work at all.
I haven't tested a Toyota yet, but I can't wait to see that for myself. I appreciate your input!
hi, when you said handdling wise this one isn't as good as other mazda have had. What exactly of that mazda you were talking about?
I've previously tested a CX-30 and a Mazda3, both of which felt a little more settled when cornering at the limit.
