At 7:14, its not an alarm system but a Gilbarco Tank Monitor 3, as the closeup at 7:18 suggests. It would monitor the underground fuel tanks for water, flow issues, etc and would monitor the gas and diesel fuel tanks in one unit. It would also monitor levels of fuel for resupply ordering (I think ).
+adamthewoo I think I recognize this location. I was there ironically one time with my 2013 Chevrolet and U Haul trailer in the back. That 990 pound U Haul trailer and when loaded it was 1500 pounds with 156 pound tongue weight. My car is only rated for 1000 pounds towing with 100 pound tongue weight. I revised it to 3500 pounds and 200 pound tongue weight. My car can tow with that 217 CID Cadillac V-6. LOL! Actually, I was moving my stuff from Chino Hills, California to Bellevue, Washington where I am at currently too. I think that place you showed is that Halloran Springs Road or something like that. Or it could be Halloran Summit. I have no idea. I know it's along that I-15 towards Las Vegas. I sometimes go to Washington State via Nevada, Idaho, and Montana. Cut across that Idaho too. Simple!
The gate was to use the bathrooms, so you pay there and when you entered that house, you should've checked those bottles and check the expiration date to get an idea from how long ago this was
According to Wikipedia: "Halloran Springs is an unincorporated community in the Mojave Desert. It is located on I-15 between Baker, California and Las Vegas, Nevada, approximately 15 miles (24 km) northeast of Baker. The stretch of road near Halloran Springs has been the sight of numerous accidents over the years, especially on Sunday and early Monday morning, as tourists returning to Southern California from weekends in Las Vegas often fall asleep at the wheel on this stretch of highway."
Hey Adam, I was curious, do you ever meet people living/squatting in the places you visit? What's your protocol for dealing with them, and do any of them get mad at you for coming through their area? Thanks for all you do and all the places you take us. :)
I will be honest, I fell asleep watching videos and woke up to Adamthewoo exploring something. Now I am binge watching all of the videos. This is some really interesting stuff and I appreciate the effort in it!
Thanks for exploring all these places along interstate 15. I have wondered about these places the numerous times I've driven past and you've calmed my curiosities.
@adamthewoo one of my old buddies was wondering if you'd do the railroad trial in cloudcroft. The one part trail is still there above the 82 highway tunnel.
Thank you for posting this Adam, I stopped in that same gas station long time ago when I was a 20 something in the 80's, Im originally from the Vegas area and I must of traveled on the I-15 countless times through the Mojave Desert on down to the LA area. We stopped in places like Baker and the Calico Ghost town a few times and not to mention I spent a sun burnt weekend one time at what used to be Lake Dolores. Thank you for reliving my travels to and from on the I-15 in the Great Mojave.......I now live in Southern Utah which is not too far from there.
How do you keep the camera from shaking while you walk. When I've done videos in the past I couldn't use some footage because of how shaky it was. But I use a GoPro so its smaller than most cameras.
Love this stuff man! Abandoned stuff, old signage, Weird Gate, beaten and burned vehicles and graffiti!!! Awesome! Btw Your buddy Carpet Bagger has been bring heat lately as well!
Awesome channel adam!! altho you filmed great abandoned places in the u.s.a have you thought of filming abroad? is there anywhere in the world you would like to film? Also i would like to wish you a MERRY CHRISTMAS and HAPPY NEW YEAR xx
I remember stopping there several times many years ago when my parents dragged us around on vacation in an old Buick station wagon (I was always in the "tailgunner" rear-facing seat--and to this day it's the reason why I can't look people in the eye when I drive without sneering at them). It used to be a Stuckey's Stop. It was one of the last ones in operation out here in the west, if I remember correctly. The coin operated gate was to see a paid attraction, which my parents would never let us see...and now that I'm older I'm glad they didn't waste their money. I'm pretty sure the attraction was to see a "two-headed snake." There would be signs for miles in both directions, and kids would nag their parents for 100 miles to stop (at least we did). My mother would always stop for the cactus jelly, cactus candy, or Pecan log rolls. I remember one had signs advertising to motorists to "Stop and see a Baby Rattler," which of course was a...real plastic babie's rattle. Now that cars don't overhead and break down as much (and better gas mileage), most of these places are long gone.
This is awesome Adam, thanks for sharing it with us. It is so sad to see lost gems like this, go into disrepair. Also, thanks for the gas pump footage, I feel much better knowing exactly how it works.
The alarm system is for the fuel tanks, also monitors how much they have left in the tanks, I'm guessing the scary room would be pay a quarter to use the toilet??
Pretty creepy! You've gotta wonder why people would walk off and abandon a whole, pretty expansive, complex like this. Looks like the vandals have had their share of fun with it.
That place is a trip. Met the owner years ago. Someone lived in that Rv to watch the property. But I'm sure they were tweekers and burned their crap down. After that, the owner just pretty much left it. The other trailers were dumped there and idiots thrash them. The owner wanted to refurbish the restaurant, but permitting it was not worth the cost.
+Larry hoover scraps way down, amigo- mild steel gets you- nada, and so that leaves you too get copper, brass and aluminum, so just have to wait until war economy picks back up, did you know some war year nickles were made of silver?
+corinth1121 But who knows how many wars have come and gone while that place has rusted and decayed? I would have liked to see the labels on some of those packages in the cupboards. They might have clues such as expiration dates or something. I am curious about the history and the location of this site. Does it have a name?
+corinth1121 I'd bet the copper is gone. In another video I saw someone tried to cut through wiring that was still live & that caused the room to catch fire.
Zod McStuffins We had some genius try to steal the wire from inside an electrical substation a few years ago. That put an end to his life of crime and his hopes of becoming an electrical engineer.
You ever noticed when you're traveling through the endless wastes of Nevada that when you see an abandoned train, it kinda looks like it's moving? I'd like to look inside those trains, but it's too fekkin hot to actually get out of the car. There's some nifty ghost town in Utah, if you travel off the paved roads. Cisco is a total wreck, but it's a sizable one. They released a new Tremors movie this year, but Kevin Bacon wasn't in it. How are these palm trees still alive?
If I had to guess that pay turn style was a shower. I know on the east coast a lot of truck stops have shower areas. Also, I am curious when this was abandoned. Due to the digital meters on the pump but the dilapidation I would guess early to mid last decade. Crazy!

As always another cool and funny video ! He always makes me laugh !
Halloran Springs exit 259 and 265 on I-15. On Google Sat images, the house with the 3 fuels tanks attached looks to have been occupied on imagery on 3/22/2013. Whatever went down there since with the burned down trailer house and travel home, it looks pretty sketchy. Anyone knows what the turnstile in the main building was for? Guessing charging for bathrooms/showers?
Why didn't you go through the revolving cage and see what was back there although I suspect it was a shower and bathroom area for the truckers. .25 and you could take a shower after being in your truck for 2 or 3 days or weeks in a row. Just wondering!
Awesome vid !! Somewhere in Ohio, i believe near the huge Trader's World flea market there is an old abandoned Ferris wheel up high on a mountain. You should definitely check it out sometime !!
+adamthewoo Thank you for answer my question, I usualy see your videos hours later the upload and thats why I don't know that detail. Now I see it better!
Looks like an old truck stop. All the amenities...Food...Gasoline...Rest and try to stand the desert. Thanks, Mr. Woo. I'd almost forgotten how much I dislike the area. Barren, dry, snakeskin and turquoise country. But, I love your videos and have for a very long time. Say "Hey" to the coyote company for me. See you next time.
The urban decay is so sad and unexpected in such a youthful and vibrant country. These scenes are more akin to war-time. Great area to shoot zombie movie scenes.

Yep. Have one at the Exxon I work at.

Thumbs up my exploring friend.

+DAVE HARTZOGE If you haven't seen it yet watch the one of the 'Hales Bar Dam'. Its my favorite of his abandoned videos.
Thanks for exploring all these places along interstate 15. I have wondered about these places the numerous times I've driven past and you've calmed my curiosities.
That wasn't a security system. It was a point of sale device for the gasoline.
+DC Fixx ahh ok thanks for the heads up
No problem. Still waiting for you to get back to Texas so we can do the Texas Chainsaw Remake locations ;)
+DC Fixx Yep it sure looked like a P.O.S. device
It actually IS an alarm system for fuel/diesel tanks. Sensors for leaks, etc...went into this panel.
ColtDeltaElite10mm So it wasn't a security system then, right?
Adam! I've been away from my RUclips channel for a while. It's so great to see all these new videos!
Wow, Uncle Rico's van sure is in bad shape.
+Rob.Lo haha it sure is
great video as always. been sad there's not been as many abandoned videos, but all are good. much love from Scotland :)
@adamthewoo
the art @ 8:50 how can i legally cut it out of the building and take it?
You know it's funny, when I first found your channel, I was on vacation in california...

that gate area is for the pay toilets. The more you know
+quiksilvermanblue crazy, never thought of that
Viewed a few of your videos and will watch more. Thank you! I liked your style
Love this stuff man! Abandoned stuff, old signage, Weird Gate, beaten and burned vehicles and graffiti!!! Awesome! Btw Your buddy Carpet Bagger has been bring heat lately as well!

Proper old skool ATW vid, reason I subscribed to this voyage of wonder in the first place, glad I came along for the ride!
9 months ago you hit 100k subscribers. you're almost at 200k! Congrats Mr. Woo!
I remember stopping there several times many years ago when my parents dragged us around on vacation in an old Buick station wagon (I was always in the "tailgunner" rear-facing seat--and to this day it's the reason why I can't look people in the eye when I drive without sneering at them).

Nice job Adam. Hope you had a good christmas

I shall always join you! thanks for all you do Adam.
@adamthewoo when r u coming back to ga I can show u sum interesting abandon areas tv show and movie locations
I wonder how long ago that place was active. SO wrecked! Perhaps a wallmart opened somewhere within a 1000 mile radius
7:40 must had been an adult cinema.
+Mike Rivest Did you notice the extra pipe welded on so you couldn't squeeze through.
Tremors? It's Graboids man! Walter Chang must be spinning in his gra.......graboid stomach.
@8:01 - Bathroom fee and entrance?
Love the places you go! Never stop exploring
you got me at the end there. .lol..but you didn't try to turn on the water in the bathroom. .....bad adam..lol..
I really liked this video! The end literally made me 'laugh out loud.' 😆
Thought I saw your Van at the abandoned water park near Barstow a week ago. Have you been there yet?! Its definitely got woo all over it!
+Tawny Horton I have a year or so ago
If there was suspense music for every time the camera adjusted to the darkness in one of the trailers, that would be one hell of a scary video!
Pretty creepy! You've gotta wonder why people would walk off and abandon a whole, pretty expansive, complex like this. Looks like the vandals have had their share of fun with it.

Funny how an Ad can load but the actual video won't.
Great video, I just subscribed!

It all looks as empty, as abandoned, and as useless as the inside of my ex husband's head.
Lol
you had a ex..
BendyBus Song Ouch! you really made him that way....?
i enjoy your videos but i gotta say I've been wondering. do you work bro?
That's hilarious. Just before you mentioned Tremors I thought to myself I want to go watch Tremors. lol. Great minds think alike.
Soon the whole country will look like this.
Everywhere you look at that place- ANGRY TEENAGERS. Smash and bash
Jack Burton
Failed promises!
oh Hi
Alex Preciado
Your over here too tough guy? I just want to let you know I may look 19 but I am really 24 and I bench 478 lbs!
Alex Preciado Yea, I am nowhere near that age anymore.
Clinton with fred and fanny may..more like it.
That wasn't a alarm it the tank monitoring system for the gas tanks tells you when the tanks are low on fuel and if there's water in the tanks
Where did that spinning gate lead?
Yeah December in the Mohave desert can be "a little bit chilly" :-0
Season 1 of Top Gear US had a race from LA to Vegas. Tanner Foust actually stops thinking it was an open gas station
Adam,, You are SCREWED up,,,LOL. Nice find, I'll take the old train car, it would make a nice storage shed.
Awesome. You should do the abandoned Big Horn Mine next. It's about two hours from Los Angeles.
The mirror shot! LOL!!!
Why didn't you go through the revolving cage and see what was back there although I suspect it was a shower and bathroom area for the truckers. .25 and you could take a shower after being in your truck for 2 or 3 days or weeks in a row. Just wondering!
I remember that place! Saw it when I drove through Barstow on the way back east.
Should do a "fear and loathing in Las Vegas" locations one, when you said "between Barstow in Las Vegas" made me think of that lol
Awesome vid dude!
Judging by the original gas and food signs I would say the place opened for business in the late 70s or early 80s. It must have had a name.
+watershed44 I'll bet a few people lost there ass on that place. Must have been pretty nice in it's day.
Really cool makes wonder if at Antoine this was busy thanks
"We were outside of Barstow when the drugs tarted to take hold"
Adam next time you go on a zany journey I think you need to ask my mom... :D
7:15 That is a gas tank monitor. They still use those today.
I love the screw joke 😂
Hahahaha!! I love the end part!!!! Scared the crap out of me!!!! Mirrors, I tell ya !!!!
you should check these places out!! Wet willy's water slide also Times beach ,and the closed down Vess soda plant all in Saint Louis Missouri.
I wonder if the turnstile thing was for a restroom or shower room for people lodging?
Awesome vid !! Somewhere in Ohio, i believe near the huge Trader's World flea market there is an old abandoned Ferris wheel up high on a mountain. You should definitely check it out sometime !!
that thing you thought was the alarm is actually the gas pump daily read out so they know how much gas to order and junk..
It's the camara quality lower than usualy or it's my imagination?
+Victor Martín its HD just takes a few minutes to process . Within an hour is good to go, you got in on the immediate upload
+adamthewoo And he did it while resisting the urge to say "First"....... ;-)
+adamthewoo Thank you for answer my question, I usualy see your videos hours later the upload and thats why I don't know that detail. Now I see it better!
I live in Vegas...I think I'll take a ride and check that place out! Cool vid!!
Looks like something straight out of CSI. Wouldn't be surprised if a portions of this abandoned area was used in the show.
If Las Vegas wasn't so enticing, i'd probably stop at one of these places.
Look's like you're having fun in the desert!
Who did you throw the football to?
The urban decay is so sad and unexpected in such a youthful and vibrant country. These scenes are more akin to war-time. Great area to shoot zombie movie scenes.
You seriously scared me at the end. Lol
Adam I love you, but you need a good windscreen for your front mic. I'm going to donate 50.00 so you get a good one!
man you got some hits great keep it up
Who was that female standing there at 3:22??
Fallout Adam Woo style.
Good one. Not as good as the abandoned Target in Atlanta though. That was your best.
awesome video bro!
I live in Yuma I could take you to tons of these abandoned mini towns here in the desert
that's not a security system that's the thing that tells how much fuel is in each one of the tanks
Crazy how that all just sits there rotting. Someone owns that land. Who? That is the question.
+Gina Ziesmer Probably has unpaid property taxes, county thinks it's real valuable, stuck in limbo.
the banks do now.
Ive actually driven past this place a few times on my way to barstow, crazy.
cool place ! thanks for the four
The turnstile gate was probably to make you spend a quarter to use the restroom.
