Kind of forgot to mention a feature that differentiates it from Google Maps.... the map is maintained via crowdsourcing by local volunteers which makes it more accurate than Google Maps at times.
Another feature is that Waze has something called Waze Beacons which is found in several areas that allows for navigation within tunnels.

Before iOS 15 Waze used to announce the favorite name which was a big hit with the kids when I had the favorite named after them and they would hear their name ,that no longer happens since iOS 15
Also sometimes when a direction is announced the radio gets disabled

I get the error, "Something went wrong. Error calculating route."
Yes, I've done the following "fix" actions to no avail:
    - Turned off WiFi
    - Uninstalled/reinstalled both Android Auto and Waze apps
So, I am just going to use a competitor's program that actually works. Thanks anywaze.

As others have said, this only list features, not how to do anything. You need to address a couple of "features": how best to control the volume, which in iOS goes up and down; and how to get rid of the WORK location which takes up precious screen space for those who work from home.

Then tap later and choose the day and time you want to leave. Then tap 'Save'. It'll now be stored in your 'Plan a Drive' section and you should receive an alert at the time you chose to leave. Interesting video, thanks.
I’m curious to know if Waze also sends information to other users even when it is closed. Whenever I open it there always seem to be a lot of users locally, and while I imagine that some of them will be using the app, it seems unlikely that they would ALL be using the app! I should add that I don’t have any problem with the app showing my position; it’s anonymous enough plus it is supposed to be helping other drivers, but it would be nice to know.
I really like the app. It’s easy to use although I have noticed that it often gives different destinations to Apple Maps - I don’t know which is more accurate - so I sometimes use that instead of Waze. But it does seem to me that it eats through your battery very quickly.

    • @HowToDoItTech
      @HowToDoItTech  2 года назад +1

Depending on where you live, the data you're seeing for users could well be true. For instance, there are 140 million active users globally and 30 million in the U.S. alone. When it comes to sharing your data, there will be a section in the Terms of Use that says they can use your data anonymously to run the service, inlcuding potentially sharing your location unless you completely opt-out. I haven't tested Apple Maps, but do notice discrepancies between Waze and Google Maps on occasion.

In my car, my phone connects via wifi and Bluetooth, all is good.
But - when I ask for a destination (like a supermarket in a suburb), I get around ten unwanted options, including churches and MacDonalds that are not in the nominated suburb, and usually, the supermarket in the nominated suburb is NOT on the list!
Even Seaworld was the tenth option when we were going there.
Google maps works fine - but not Waze with AA.
Waze shows the one location on my phone in the lounge room, but in the car with AA, it's a let down.

Nope sorry both Google maps and Waze directional function are very poor and if I were to use these apps without question then my journey would be 10 miles longer each way, 20 miles per work day, 100 miles per week, 4800 miles per year. And of course traffic alerts Re only useful if you actually driving on those roads Waze thinks you are going to use. My car navigation maps allow you to set routes. The route I have chose is perfect, off the beaten track, I can actually enjoy my drive because the is NO traffic. The very aim of this app.

That's a pain. Is the app just not working for you or the functionality broken?

The narrator in this video is mumbling and difficult to hear. He's trying to be cool with his British accent and loosing the audience at the same time.

Sorry to hear you don't like my narration style but thanks for the feedback as it helps.
