I personally think that Shinji’s screams in the Netflix dub are REALLY good and close to the original. Every time he screamed, cried or yelled, my heart went into my throat.

But in the original you can hear his scream echo in the entry plug, which netflix doesn't have. I love this detail that reminds you just how trapped he now is. The scream sounds more violent like he is screaming for help.

But we can all agree that the Brazilian-Portuguese dub of Shinji’s scream is the greatest.
Gotta say the one good thing the Netflix dub and original sub had is that after it zooms out, shinji is STILL screaming. That touch is completely haunting.

Spanish (Castilian): See Japanese. I do admit, though, that Shinji sounds like a turkey in the Latin American Spanish version.

One thing that I will compliment the Netflix dub is that scream. I might be biased because the only evangelion I’ve seen is the Netflix dub but that scream is horrifying. It just shows pure terror and it being one of the longer screams really hammers in how scared Shinji is during the scene

As someone that watched the sub first, the Netflix dub complete destroys the original dub in most scenes. I think nostalgia has blinded a lot of people.
The sub is still the best when it comes to acting and most importantly consistency though imo.

The japanese has that perfect pitched scream, really personifies the terror.
Nothing beats the original Japanese scream. There’s legitimate anguish in the Satre’s sense of the word in that performance. So glad I watched the sub and not the dub for the first time!
