I’m 44 and in the best shape of my life. Most muscle I’ve ever had and strongest. Been lifting since I was 12 years old with sand weights in my parents basement.
Good for you, that's more typical and you're doing great, keep working hard and making gains. I don't know who says you can't gain muscle after 35, that's just silly and pretty much everyone knows that. I mean you can gain muscle at almost any age, it just slows down as you get old, meaning mid 50's and 60s, but you can still make some progress. I mean as long as you haven't maxed yourself out you can always build some muscle and make some gains.
Lol same cement ones.
You always been consistent / taken any years off from discipline?
@@hieloz never took time off but was not too consistent in my early thirties when my first son was born. Although I’ve been training my whole life I never achieved my full genetic potential so once I kicked it up a notch by about 36, the gains have continued. 100% natural with OTC supplements
Well its time for u to move out buddy
I’m 71 and still training and gaining muscle. Your never to old. It’s all in your head. If your not lifting or exercising your just lazy or using excuses not to be in good shape. Blame yourself. Btw… I went from 175 at around 55 to 200 at 71 years old and 17” arms. It is possible! No gear !!!!!
💯
💪
it's scientifically proven that people reach their athletic prime in their 20s, lol, it's not in our head.
@@troy1436 he didn't say he was in his prime?? He said your lazy to not lift and stay in shape. And it's a fact you can continue to get gains though they may be less gains than when your in your 20's and especially your 30's. Being lazy is definitely in your head.
💪 absolutely stay positive and motivated. ✌️
40 here. Dicked around for years with my training. Got serious the last 2 years. Easily the best shape I've ever been in. Definitely doable. I think I will be significantly stronger at 45.
Sure you will continue to get bigger and stronger if you work hard. 35 is really silly, that's pretty close to your prime and I was at my best at that age and into my 40s as well. I mean you can build muscle at any age as long as you're not maxed out. I had higher testosterone levels at 39 than my 20s and my doctor wasn't surprised at all, he said it's normal considering the shape I was in. Keep up the good work man. Just work hard and keep your diet on my point, and you'll continue to make gains, they won't just stop completely.
I'm 51 and now at my strongest ever and getting stronger. Not as fit as I was at 16 because I'm 20kg heavier but stronger - oh yes !
You can still gain a lot of strength from 40--45 and even 45--50. I'm still getting results in my 50s, so...
thats great but doesn't change the fact that humans hit their athletic prime between 20 and 30. you just never put in the work in your early years.
@@troy1436 probably true yes
You can gain muscle at any age. Just takes consistency and discipline. Ya. I'm in way better shape than I was at 40... Fit over 50!
Nice I love to here this . I at am in my best shape at 37 plan to be better by 40 myself and so on . Keep it going buddy .
Yessir! The best advice I can give is do not get injured! That can ruin your gains for months!
Makes me so happy to hear, I am 18 and fell in live with the gym about 3 years ago and I want to keep going and keep improving for life, I don’t want to grow old and out of shape
YESSIR! You can do it! Just be smart about it! I'm over 50, workout everyday, all natural, can eat 4K calories a day and not gain weight, Ya! Learned a lot over the years from guys like Mike!
@@BMO_Creative no reason to go heavy for muscle gains unless strength is the goal. For muscle 8 to 10 rep ranges were shown to build more muscle than the heavy sets doing 3 to 5 reps. So unless strength is a goal you can keep the weight in a range That you hit failure at 8 to 10 reps and still build muscle with less chance of injury.
It's never too late. On my 46th bday I made a decision to change my life. I'm now 47, 6' 2" 235lbs and down to about 18% BF. I put a solid 10lbs of muscle this past year. I'm not done, my goal is another 10-15lbs of muscle and getting BF down to low teens.
Mike, your content is a breathe of fresh air. I cannot state how much I admire how positive you are. I'm struggling right now in many ways and can't express how much your content helps me.
Dude he's the biggest poser in the bodybuilding community. He constantly denies taking steroids even though 100% he's on them. He's a weirdo.
Ed Corney started at 36 years old. He took 13th in the Mr Olympia at age 50.
Wow I didn’t know that. That’s crazy
That's more like it, good for him. That's an incredible story I have to check out since I didn't know about. I can't imagine someone said you can't build muscle after 35, that's just stupid. I was my biggest and strongest at 35 and older. I mean you can build muscle at any age if you're not maxed out although it will slow down as you get real old. Even at 39 my testosterone levels hit 900 which were slightly higher than they ever were in my 20s. My doctor just said they should be high, you workout and are in shape, and that testosterone levels vary a lot. A lot of silly BS information out there.
I started at 35… I’m 37 now.
Idk about Olympia but i think if I do roids I could compete somewhere.
Had a similar revelation at 39 1/2 . Couldn’t be more happier that I started and continued to be consistent with it . A year later . Down 80 pounds and in the best shape of my life . Thanks for the extra motivation Mike to keep killing it .
That which doesn't kill you can only make you stronger.
I agree. I’m 51 and have been working out since 21. I’m rededicating myself to the gym even more. F waiting until January. START TODAY DECEMBER 10. START NOW!!!!
I love Mike Ohearn he's such an inspiration. I just started working out again at 35 and I'm being consistent with strength and longevity at the forefront of my brain. Mike's a legend!!
41yrs old, fucked around in gyms since I was 13. In the last few years Iv finally put it all together. Training, nutrition, lifestyle, good sleep, routine. Never been happier, stronger, leaner or held more been packing on more muscle in my life. Life begins at 40 because you’ve graduated from the bullshit 💪💪💪💪💪
45 years old and feel and look the best I have in 15 years. I’ll tell you the things that have worked for me: intermittent fasting, THC tincture before bed (I sleep like a baby and my HGH levels have skyrocketed), lift in the 4-8 rep range, gluten free diet, and daily meditation (30-60 mins of visualization). I’m rich, jacked, and look 10 years younger than I am. Let’s go!
Mike advices are pure gold and i love every training style he does, i remember i start watching mike videos since i was a beginner 12 years ago, now am 25 years old and i forgot everything about ego lifting, i go as heavy as possible with full range of motions, and i use every advice on each of my training.
Ive been training consistently since i was 20 but once i hit 37 decided to start competing in the men's physique. As a full natty i place well every show taking 1st in my category multiple times. Im almost 43 now still making improvements and looking to take the overall and in the best shape of my life
I'm 38 now and waking up to the fact I can't keep drinking and have bad habits when you reach 40 you kinda have to wake up and make good choices
I have been training/dieting since I was 17/18. Although most of that training and dieting has been suboptimal. I optimised my training and dieting in my early 30's, which is to say a consistent progressive overload training programme and macro balanced diet with sufficient protein with cutting and bulking phases. I'm now 35 and the biggest / strongest I have ever been in my life.
I'm 40 next year, still as fit, strong and big as the previous 15 plus years
Recovery is a little harder, but not much. Just take care of your body and it will take care of you
I train with guys much older than me in martial arts and the gym and they are better than me and im better than many guys much younger
Never too late, no excuses!
In my repeated experiences from 18 to 45, it all fundamentally starts for most out of shape bodies the exact same way at every age. *You have to push your body extremely hard at some point into it, and get the total body machine properly engaged systemically.*
You can lift weights and build great strength and muscle, you can diet and walk to get rid of fat, but if you don't want it to be a constant uphill battle where it seems you never reach the original goal you set to get started, *it is because you never demanded enough of yourself and commanded your body as a single unit to do something incredibly hard, top to bottom, inside and out where after enough times, you literally feel like a new and different person and it seems next to impossible to ever go back.*
And in the end, middle and beginning, this means you are going to have to suffer!
*There is still a point where the suffering becomes something strangely different, and truly becomes one of the greatest pleasures the human body, mind and emotions can ever experience.* For me, that was uphill cardio, ridiculous body weight repetition counts, weighing every source of food including a glass of juice, and eventually thriving off the sensation of a barren stomach that was processing both calories and nutrition in a way that was invigorating and returns me to feeling 18 with endless lifetimes ahead of me.
*Beyond that point, just about everything became fun and easy.*
Where my journey went unplanned doesn't matter because deep down inside, my true self never died, was never silenced and never surrendered.
*If life was always easy, it wouldn't be worth living.*
I fuckin love this brother. Very well said I’m 28 now and this just gave me the extra jolt I need to keep persisting forward !
@@MindfulZetta I just went through the ultimate great reset after a major injury to my sciatic nerve recurred 18 months ago. The first was about 17 years ago. This coupled with a bad scapula injury 3 years ago, and the only way my leg is going to heal again is to do everything I said in my post lol.
It isn't impressive just yet, but everyday, I am doing dozens and dozens of ass to the grass bodyweight squats. I have a crazy, full featured home gym instead of a living room, so very soon, I'll be unleashing with all my might as hard as I can until my leg works 100% again. I just took about a month and a half off from the gym to drop a bit more fat through major calorie restrictions, and maybe more importantly, get my head together because I know the bruit force workouts and general exercise it's going to take. *I'll be going until I collapse, literally rile and thrash on the floor a bit, then get up and crank out more reps until I collapse again, then right back up and repeat until I'm seeing white light lol*
Even slightly beat up, I'm 45 and still feel 18.
@@JonDeth goddamn ! Keep grinding man, I appreciate your persistence. I don’t know you but I’m proud of you, honestly. Hopefully you document the journey…
@@MindfulZetta that's a very good idea. I used to take workout journals to track my progress, but fell out of the habit after the shoulder injury and a hospitalization for a blood infection approximately 3 years ago.
I'll start a notebook, photographic and video-graphic documentation of my journey. The leg is a real bitch to get the nerve to recover but I did it before, and can and will do it again.
Mike looks way better than the Rock. Been a fan for years. Mike is just an extraordinary individual. Could listen to him forever. Thank you Mike for your constant inspiration. You inspire me every day. Top guy!
Damn Mike, thats a power speech if i ever heared one. I started last year when i turned 40. Best shape i ever been and keep pushing because it aint enough
I’m 34 now. Back in 2013, I went from weighing 120 to weighing 180lbs. Went through a heartbreak and hit the gym hard. I’m now 34 and decided to get back into it; I’m not going to be old and look brittle. Fuck that
great stuff Gents! Its never too late to start lifting and it should be fun!
When I was child, the playground was my heaven living in New York until I turned 11 and my step-dad took my to a gym. Now that I'm in my 30's and Now the GYM is my playground.
My father recently got into lifting with me about 2 years ago and hes 56 now. Im 34 and lifted years ago but never took it seriously for many reasons which one should! Ive been taking it seriously for almost 4 years so i started when i was 30! Never once did i tell myself im going to go light or im going to take it easy and just stay in somewhat of good shape! When i started my max overhead press was around 110lbs and now i can press 248lbs and still making nice gains! I wanna get to 315! My squat was 280lbs and is now 478! I take it serious outside the gym as well with my nutrition and sleep! My dad has increased his squat by 100lbs at 56! He also doesnt take it quite as serious as i do!
I really appreciate this video, thanks for sharing. It's what I needed to see.
I’m 36 and I’ve put on 15lbs of muscle after going on TRT. Absolutely life changing.
The man has been helped by modern surgical miracles.
I watched this because I started at 37 now I'm running 38 and weight 30 more lbs then last year. Just do it 💪
It's all about putting in the work for muscles
I'm 35 and I am building muscle it's never to late the more people get in shape the better it is for society and the health care system which will reduce the dept of your country simple
I started working out for the first time in my life at 38 (almost 39), I'll be 41 this year and I have put on a TON of muscle and have never looked better.
Thanks mike. Didnt know i needed this so badly until i heard it. Lets go.
I only started working out at 36 and In one year of diet and exercise lost 60 pounds and am literally in better shape than I was in high school. Never too late to start!!!
38 here and still gaining muscle and strength. Broken addiction and malnutrition then got into the gym 4yrs ago and was so weak. Had back pain, with zero muscle to start with. Now, I’m healthy and feel better than my 20s.
Great advice from the two of you.
My kids have been teasing me about turning 41 soon. This popped up in my feed for a reason. Thanks for the video.
The mind is so powerful. You can think yourself into power or you can think yourself into weakness
I love it! 💯 💪🏾
Ive been at it since 40. 47 now and Im hitting PR's on a regular. Im getting total body the strongest Ive ever been.
Remember, Mike is juiced to the gills! Mike also set no world records!
54 here, at my HS weight, 6'3" 187. Working out by moving many steps per day, been using perfect pushups every day for a week now, up to 110 per day and won't take a day off. Been drinking 4 raw eggs/A2 milk, collagen and yogurt shakes daily, will up that to 12 raw eggs. Will hit the gym soon to lift, i have a base now and ready.
Excellent video.
I have been working out since 94 first gym 95_96.
Your amazing mike.
Im 43 and in good shape
He makes you realise you can look amazing at 50 plus hes fzxxking amazing!!!!!!!
Drugs kid
I started really lifting as a young Marine at 18. I stopped at about 28, and then off and on until 33. I’m 34 now and it’s a painful bitch to lift as heavy, but my form is still there. My point is start young. Build mass in your early/mid 20’s. It won’t take nearly as much weight to get that size and strength back, but you need a good diet, and alcohol is your worst enemy after 30.
i started with 37. a year later i am in the best shape of my life :)
55 and still a bad ass Mikey. I’m 51 and still a bad ass Lifting and counting Macros building more muscle. Come on guys let’s get off the couch and start living
I totally agree I turned 40 this year and decided that I wanted to get my ass in to gear and push myself to get bigger and fitter stronger and also watch what am eating and not that I was a big drinker but cut out on drinking alcohol and fizzy juice witch probably hasn't helped my diet over the years.
I love watching your videos and learning new things and want to be in my best shape at 50 60 and beyond plus want to feel good and look good about myself !!!
That’s the key gear
41 and had 12 years away from the gym doing callestenics at home. I went back to the gym 3 months ago doing a 4 day split one on one off and i have gained 16lb lifetime natural. What i see in the gym is people shying away from really heavy lifting. Every other week i start my workout with heavy compounds 6 sets 3-5 reps then hit 10 sets 8-10 for that bodypart. Ive put on a hell of a lot of dense muscle so lift heavy and rest people if your natural or fade away lol.
“How do you lose fat?,” “Dumb question, you start.” That is the best response to that I have ever heard!!!!
41 here. Athlete all my life, several disciplines.
Bodybuilding is the best for me now, since it's the best controlable, injuries are rare.
Was definetly stronger in my 20s.
But building muscle is similar as 15 years ago.
Gained 20ib the last 6 month.
Were it get's a little tricky is legs. You have to be a little flexible with exercises.
But i am pretty happy!!
34 love 💕 never stopping and staying hungry
Had major cancer surgery, went to rehab, lifted light weighs 8 pounders, some months later ,I work out with curling 30lbs dumbells, now heading for 40lbs dumbells, for curling and incline press over head,I'm a few days shy of 64 yrs old ,yes I guess I am building strength and some muscle.
I am a Trsining family Arm WRESTLER. I'm 54. It takes more effort. More knowledge. More discipline. And yes it's a tough one. Baby steps.. Thanks Mike.. northern NY USA here. Mike GET INTO ARMWRESTLING.
Best thing about being over 40 is I don't have to eat so damn much to keep size on. It's great not eating myself to death everyday and still getting results.
I am 64 and still lifting. I also work seven days a week. I go to the gym early in the morning. I competed as a power lifter for 20 years. I have changed the way I train. I use dumbbells or smith machine. I do back squats and partial deadlifts. For now I do not use equipment. I still enjoy working out but I will never do single reps for now
This is a Lifestyle
Once you in
You die with it 💪
46 here, benching 100kg (2 x 50kg) dumbells x 7 reps. Aiming for 10 by summer. If anything, the older you get, the more you need to train!
Wow
That was a AMAZING SPEECH...
Thank you! I need a kick in the a$$ y’all are an inspiration! 🙏
Mike ohearn, I miss the days of you doing the FB live so we could do a q&a. That was really
Cool man.
Totally true - got a lot more serious in 2017 at around 47 years old and went from 210lb to 250lb and significantly stronger than when I was 23@ 190lb.
Not too old, too tired.
Just turned 35 in August, this Video is Motivation for me.
Mike is the ultimate training partner.
I’ll be 36 in two weeks and by switching up my workout routine by bringing in the strength training I’m in better shape and stronger than I was when I was a teen.
I'm over 35 and bigger then i was when i was 25...completely natural
We can always add muscle and strength. However we need to keep our expectations in check. Age,gender, how often you workout, your metabolism,DNA,nutrition, Natural vs UnNatural ,etc play a HUGE role. Im strong, but dont look great. Matter of fact just hit a new PR on my deads last night 495. Im 52. Heck i didnt even have 1500 calories by 4pm when i did my workout. Workingout is crazy and different for everyone.. everyone just keep moving forward. before you know it you'll get your goals.
That's right Mike it's how you think!
54 and workin out every day!
Hey Coach M. My coach you met before Joey Williams in Pacific CA said to me if you think you are old than just stop and go play golf. I am 45 years old and feel like 25. What I have learn is FrC functional Range Conditioning and strength training. I will be best at 50 and will compete in powerlifting looking muscular!!!
I'm 51. 6/1/23 was 215 lb 30 bmi, type 2 diabetic. A1c of 8.3. Nutrition and daily resistance training. 10/20/23 . 185 lbs Reversed my T2D. No longer on meds. A1c 5. All with resistance bands, dumb bells at home. 10k steps. Was utterly in shit shape. If a 35 year drunk (recovered) with a herniated disc on his root nerve, disabled, with cardiovascular disease and type 2 diabeted can do it, anyone can. No excuses. Have to mute the bitch voice in your head and get to grinding. It's a marathon not a sprint. Show up today. Results stack. Gotta get it! Thanks for all your content. Greatly appreciated! I wanted 185 weight get in 200 grams of protein for a surplus to promote muscle growth. What has worked for me. 1 inch gain chest, 2 inches arms. No supplements., creatine, or protein shakes. Just meat, eggs, yogurt. Carbs cycled around workout. Fats come from eggs, bacon.
Crazy :) These guys are out of their minds, if they had any :) Pumping protein and vanity shots :)
LFG! 40 AINT NOTHIN!
I stopped adding muscle around 30 then I just went to mexico and got the mike special in a box now I am jacked all the time.
Go see Jose across the boarder, he is the maker of many muscle men.
I'm 35 the other way round and still progressing!
Yeah, same, at my most muscular and strongest in my late 30s. I think that's pretty normal though if you work hard and have been working hard for a while though. I'm not sure who would say that you can't at 35, that's like close to your prime and it's silly to say. I mean you can really build muscle at any age as you long as you're not maxed out. In fact my testosterone level were over 900 at 39, which is the highest reading I ever got, higher than my 20s, not by a lot but by a little bit. The doctor wasn't surprised either. He just said your levels should be high since you're in shape and workout. He also said testosterone levels vary a lot.
@billj4525 I'm 53 not 35. Perhaps I wrote my post wrong lol. Never got my test levels checked but no issues. I take tongkat ali, fadogia agrestis, fenugreek. I do have a kilo of poultry a day too.
@@everready800 Oh 53, that's even a lot more impressive. Yeah, there's a very good chance your test levels are good, especially considering you're making good gains still. Keep up the good work man, you're doing awesome. Keep working hard and improving.
@billj4525 Thanks man! 🙏😊 One thing I have noticed as the years have gone by is I have more muscle tightness and need foam rolling and sports massage. They do say our muscles get less supple as we age.
Im mikes age. I started lifting again about 1 year ago. I am getting my size and strength back!!!! I
Good old Mike !
I will soon be 55, I did go on TRT at 53 but still going stronger than ever and many that know me through the years say I've never aged but I live very differently than them.
I'm turning 35 next month.
Can't wait to jack this frivolous training shit in & become a pack of lard.
I’m growing new muscle fibers and making current muscle bigger & stronger past the age of 50
I remember when it was only 146 subs of us and now closing in on 800k and 1 mill in 2024 easily will be acoomolished
Uncle mike is here🎉❤
Over 50 here, been lifting since I was 20...still slowly getting stronger and still filling in weak points.
Thanks to Mike's videos can learn so much on strength training mobility different techniques and strategies. I'm 50 best shape of my life but still striving this growing old is nonsense we have age reversal, scientifically proven. For me problem was recovery which was unacceptable. Now all gone. I'm on new biotech X39, X49. Heck the glutathione patch itself is 300% absorption rate. Robbie Robinson needs to know about it. He does glutathione intravenous that dissipates after a few hours and nowhere near same absorption.
I'm 33 and at my strongest. Felt like I had no natural test in my 20s compared to now.
33 aint nothing man that is young
I’ve been on trt and put a stone on! I’m 48. You can do it guys
turned 40 last year and still getting stronger
About to be 45 still making gains , still getting stronger still putting on muscle and size. Anybody that's over 40 and says you can't make anymore gains is just pazy
Big Mike keep the pump brother
Mike I have the same shirt zap gave it to me when I trained her. Mike I’m 58 I’m still training classic pro natty Champion 100% natural 6 foot 222 shredded Tony Zen Thai Chi master Hollywood New York actor Fitness and MMA trainer
I feel a LOT of people are overlooking the power of information on fitness. When I was 20 the only advice I had to get ‘big’ was bench press a lot and drink Megamass 4000 like 5 times a day. Big shocker, all I did was get fat and develop shoulder problems. 😂. Now there’s SO much information out there on diet and fitness and technique (admittedly not all good) it’s unbelievable. At almost 50 I’m in the best shape of my life, and I attribute it to moving past the old mantras of ‘no pain no gain’ that probably broke more people than built them.
At age 40 I decided to go as hard as I could and get into athletic shape. I’m 5’7 and was 198 pounds, fat af. I turn 41 in about 4 months, weigh 140 pounds, sitting at 11% body fat. Now working on building muscle.
Yeah, you can get in shape at 40. But not just in shape, you can get into athletic shape at 40. If you’re serious about it.
I'm turning 40 on Valentine's day and I'm only getting stronger and bigger.
Life long natural 53 years old. Started at 12 and never stopped. Heart mind, body soul, nothing off the shelf!!!
fake natty, bozo.
Way to go. That's awesome
Lookin awesome man.
@gbaby91 Thank you brother 🌄🙏
It’s funny cause after 30 I feel you just start to learn how to REALLY train your body and not destroy your body
Lol 35 that's prime time baby, I'm 35 , some of best shape and strength of my life !!!
I'm 40 years old and I still gain strength I'm gaining muscles, with no complement at all no protein powder nor amino acids and guess what I live in the third world underdeveloped country when I had 15 years old I weighted 127 Kgs now I'm 112 Kgs but most Leaner and in good shape it's about how smart u are in every move you make from eating to working out and specially having a good sleep at night and get rid of some bad habits like drinking alcohol
43 and going for it
HEY, ur awesome, guys
I'm 60 and hitting it like when I was 20. Age is just a number. I weigh 225 and can still run a 5:3 40.
😮 dam! Goals
38 and in better shape now than i did in my 20s
